A lovely tropical and Thai fusion decor. The staff were extremely friendly and eager to help. The hotel was right on the beach with plenty of seating and mingling areas that were cozy and inviting. At night it had a romantic ambiance with candles and lights. A DJ provided music throughout the day and into the early evening. The restaurant had good food and tropical drinks and was reasonably price. Stores and restaurants were in walking distance. Ocean Park is a lovely and safe environment. Highly recommended!

The property, draped in the tropics of the El Yunque rainforest, consists of 90 family villas in a three-story building, a world-renowned YHI Spa and two 18-hole championship golf courses designed by PGA pro Tom Kite. Discover the turquoise waters of the Atlantic that swallow the sophisticated architecture of these luxurious Villas. Nestled on the northeastern coast of Puerto Rico in the peninsula of Miquillo de Rio Grande in Coco Beach, it is a truly tropical oasis of elegance and fun. Club Melia at Gran Melia Puerto Rico is the perfect destination for a romantic vacation or family vacation. Check-in is at 4pm on the day of arrival. VIP area will be available from 8am-9pm. Please note that rooms are not guaranteed to be available right away at 4pm. There may be times when access to your unit is unavoidably delayed due to cleaning or maintenance issues. Minimum age required at check-in is 21. The front desk is open 24 hours. Housekeeping service 24 hours a day.

The resort is beautiful and would meet the needs of most travelers. I would highly recommend the 1 bedroom Master Suite Condo as it has a kitchen, dining... room, living room, huge bedroom, huge bathroom with 2 toilets, and two large jetted tubs (one in the bathroom & one on the balcony). It is also nice to have a kitchen and refrigerator in case you want to bring in your own snacks, drinks, etc. I would recommend trying to get a lower numbered room (the first two digits of your four digit room number). We moved from room 37xx to 30xx and found the second room to be more convenient, although staying in the first room would have been fine. I wouldn't say that the restaurants are any more expensive than any other nicer restaurant in the mainland US. We enjoyed the secluded location of the hotel, but if you plan to explore beyond the resort you will definitely need a rental car. I believe Avis is onsite, and if you rent through them you can park for free. Getting to the resort from the airport cost us around $65 before tip and took about 45 mins. We were there with a group for the first few days for a wedding, so we found ourselves spending most of our time around the pool bar, which was great. Of course drinks are on the expensive side, but that is to be expected. We stayed around for a few days after our group left, and we really enjoyed exploring the beaches. We definitely enjoyed walking out and swimming around from several areas of the beach. Overall, we had a great stay! by D from Texas on 05/03/13
