A true 5 star hotel with quality rooms, accomodations, staff and food. We booked 2 rooms for our family of five. While the service was excellent and resort itself was gorgeous, the food is mediocre. The only exception to that comment is breakfast which is fresh and delicious - but expensive. The hotel had a tsunami warning during our stay. The staff handled everything extremely well. Overall the hotel is a great place to stay. Beach is quite, pool is over the top fantastic for relaxing. Location is a bit remote if you are looking to explore the town or get out fro some nightlife, but I don't think that is the intention for this establishment. Food vendors off the beach make up for any missed opportunities in the town.

The JW Marriott looks like a paradise on the photos. Overall it was a slightly above average place to stay. I was not blown away. The facilities are clean, but there are certain areas of rust and mold. The resturants food is ok, but nothing to rave about. Chinese New Year holiday, the hotel was fully booked. The landscape of the hotel is beautifully manicured. The pool zig-zag its way around the hotel which makes it very enjoyable if you are on the first floor cause its just outside your balcony. The beach area is very relaxing and quiet. One thing I recommend is to go there early with your towel(s) […] to reserve your beach chair cause you will be out of luck in finding available chairs after 9am. The staff are very friendly and takes hospitality very seriously. They will make reservation for you at your favorite restaurant and recommend which local activities worth seeing. The one drawback about our stay was the room always has the moldy smell. The housekeeper supplied us with endless scented candle to cover up for the smell. We have to call guest service twice in two days because our television was not working properly (no sound and no image). On our last day of stay, the whole building number four did not have hot water to take shower. We enjoyed the hotel surroundings but our room is something to avoid. Read more

Wonderful scene and amazing beach. Great environment for kids with playroom and activities. The main drawback is the quality of the dining experience which is subpar at best made all the mor difficult as the hotel is 2km from town.

We've just been back for the second time over Xmas and the New Year (2012/13) and weren't disappointed. The serpentine pool is gorgeous, as are the landscaped gardens and the beachfront and frankly we rarely left as it's such a nice place to be. Apart from the hotel restaurants there are some small ones on the beach and also new ones at the front entrance […] (try the pizzas at Antonio's). There are a lot of Scandinavians, also Germans and fewer Italians, French and Brits. Russians come in for their Xmas around Jan 6th and expat Americans come in from Asia. It's a good mix though you do have to get down early with your beach towel. JW Mariott Khao Lak is a fantastic hotel and my wife and I had a great stay. A little far from the airport in Phuket at 1-1/4 hour drive but worth it as the hotel is very secluded and on its own stretch of beach. Hotel is quite large and rooms are very nice; we stayed on second floor and thought it was great. The bottom floor rooms have pool access […] outside their rooms but thought it was a bit weird having people swim by your door so opted for second floor which turned out great as we had an ocean view. Breakfast was excellent with great variety. Did not each at other restaurants as there are a dozen or so locally owned restaurants directly on the breach which were very good and well priced; would recommend trying them all! The hotel staff, services and amenities were very good and we were very pleased with the stay. There were plenty of beach chairs and lots of space around the pool the sit and relax. We did the day tour to the Similan Islands and had a great time, definately recommend. Read more

We have stayed in many hotels in Thailand over the years and this one must rate as one of the best. I could not fault it in any aspect and would certainly return to it. We had a pool access room but would have been fine with one of the rooms on the other floors. Everything was done to make our 11 night stay comfortable and enjoyable. Great place.

Very nice resort, very quiet area, about 60 min away from the airport if you have a good cab driver. Secluded resort, one of the best beaches in that area for sure, excellent layout with longest pool in SE Asia. However, like a lot of the times in SE Asia, rooms have slight moldy smell. Food is not a best seller there, the Thai place is okay but overpriced. […] Different local food alternatives and bars directly on the beach if you walk to the left or right on the hotel's own beach. Not air conditioned, basic seat accomodation but friendly people around with mediocre English abilities. Food on the beach is good and very inexpensive and freshly cooked. If you have time, book a trip to Hong Islands which includes canoeing in the mangroves, stunning landscape, round top moutains coming out of the Phang Nga bay, the whole bay and mountains which includes James Bond Island is protected by the world heritage apparently. The Hotel was amazing!!! The grounds are just gorgeous & the staff are absolutely fantastic. We could not have asked for more. We travelled to Khao Lak and stayed at the Marriott for 9 nights with our 15 month old son. He was treated like a King (as were we) the whole time we were there. There was a porta-cot set up in our room on arrival and the car […] that picked us up from the airport had a baby car seat fitted. By the 2nd day most of the staff knew our son's name and were doting on him day & night. The breakfast was divine. There were cooked foods, a smoothie bar, fresh fuits and breads, omlette's made on request. Each morning the staff would play/look after our boy while we enjoyed a lovely breakfast looking out over the beach. I cannot say enough about how friendly, helpful, accommodating, and just wonderful the staff were. Each day they went out of their way to make sure everything for our stay was just perfect. The facilities at the resort were excellent. There is a supermarket in town were you can get most of the essentials from home you would need including nappies, wipes, snacks, bread, beer etc. The hotel restaurants were great - especially 'Olive'. More expensive than the local ones but worth it for the experience. There are 2 great restaurant/massage places just down the beach from the resort which you have to try at least once while you're there - great food and lovely people. Overall an excellent resort (for familes & couples alike) and we can't wait to return! Read more

Das Frühstücksbuffet ist wirklich sehr sehr gut. Das Personal sehr freundlich. Am Strand ausserhalb des Hotels, gibt es noch ein paar gute Strandrestaurants, sollte man was neues brauchen. Die SPA ist auch sehr schön und die Massagen sehr gut.

Wir (Paar), waren 4 Tage im JW Marriott, hatten ein Superior Zimmer mit Poolblick im Obergeschoß. Das Zimmer war sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet und liebevoll dekoriert, das Badezimmer -ein Traum,(mit wunderbaren Pflegeartikeln). Der Blick über den wunderschönen, gepflegten Garten und Riesen-Poolanlage war traumhaft, vor allem bei einer Indischen Hochzeit […] am Abend. Das Frühstücksbüffet war einfach unbeschreiblich, der Service und die Freundlichkeit im ganzen Hotel ließen keine Wünsche offen. Die meisten Liegestühle am Strand waren leider (wie überall!) schon Frühmorgens mit Handtüchern reserviert. Folgende Mängel dürften deshalb nicht vorkommen: Abgabe von total verfleckten und zum Teil beschädigten Strand- bzw. Pooltürchern Durchgefaulte Holzlatten auf den Gehwegen Herrichten der Zimmer oftmals erst nach 15.00 Uhr teilw. unfreundliches […] Personal, dies vorallem bei den ganz jungen Angestellten Teambesprechungen nach Beginn der Frühstückzeit, deshalb teilweise lange Wartezeiten bis serviert wurde bestellter Hotelbus erschien zur vereinbarten Zeit nicht. Es musste eine eigene Rückfahrt mit Tuk-Taxi in Anspruch genommen werden. Auf unsere Reklamation folgte nicht einmal eine Entschuldigung, im Gegenteil wir mussten uns noch wehren, damit die bereits auf der Hotelrechnung belasteten Kosten korrigiert wurden. Данный отель имеет лучшие бассейны во всём Таиланде! Великолепный пляж! Единственный минус - вокруг кроме парочки пляжных ресторанов ничего нет.
