inexpensive hotel in best location in Budapest
we picked the Burg hotel in Budapest for its' location. The neighborhood, restaurants, on the Buda side, near sites was superb. Bus 16 takes you to Pest, boat docks, etc. where you can also get onto tram 2. the staff was great, fixed a few things in our room, room view was wonderful (room 104). this is an old hotel, with some history, steps to all the rooms, but staff will help with bags if you ask. they will call a taxi for you, too. breakfast always had scrambled eggs, and a variety of other items, breads, fruits, yogurts, spreads , cheese, meats, etc. We had a wonderful time, most Buda sites were within walking distance, (and I use a cane). The price of this hotel, made our stay inexpensive, with more cash to do other things. Money changer across the street, with good rates. I will stay here again, for all of the above reasons.

Nice Stay
Staying up in the Castle village was just as nice as I thought that it would be. The Burg hotel was comfortable with good size rooms. The breakfast included some hot items and it was very nice. You must pay to park but there was always spots available. We ended up our 3 week Budapest vacation with 4 nights at the Burg and it was a great way to spend New Years Eve.

Very pleasant and clean; nice staff
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The room was very clean, though quite outdated. The bed wasn't the most comfortable but it didn't give me any back pain. The desk attendants were very friendly and accommodating - MUCH more so than the previous hotel I had stayed at in another area of Budapest. The neighborhood on Castle Hill was beautiful. The gorgeous Matthias Church is directly across the street and Fishermans Bastion is just beyond it. Also with just a short walk you can see the Parliament building and the beautiful bridges and Buda's Castle. The bus that takes you down into the city center stops just across the street and it's a 10 minute ride. There are a number of restaurants nearby, though I thought they were slightly pricey, but it's easy to get to areas where there are more options. There are also several souvenir shops nearby. There is a mini fridge in the room and a very antiquated blow dryer, but it worked. My only minor complaint is that there was only one electrical outlet for charging my electronic devices, and that was in the bathroom, and the light switch controlled that outlet - I found out the hard way. Otherwise I would have had to unplug the fridge. So it was difficult to keep iPhone, iPad, and backup phone charger all charged. Overall I loved the hotel and would definitely stay there again
