"As dependable as a McDonald's."
For a very reasonable cost you get a spacious and clean room in a well kept facility. The Cascades offers the convenience of a train station right outside the door and an Interesting strip mall right around the corner. The only downside is that you have to be willing to put up with a little airport noise.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Convenience and affordable."
Hotel is comfortable and convenient if you need to be by I205, the airport or east side of Portland. Staff was mostly nice, some were gruff/curt on the phone. Pool was nice after a long day. Upholstery could use some spot cleaning, otherwise room quipwas clean and the kitchenette was equipped with simple housewares, more than I expected, actually […] . "Front desk - no help"
Stayed overnight for a shopping trip in Portland. This hotel in conveniently located near great stores. However, I have never experienced such poor front desk service. On one instance, we asked if the sofa bed could be made so that we could use it. We were told to look in the closet and make the beds ourselves. Under the sofa bed was candy and peanuts […] from a previous stay. We went shopping a came back at 10pm and the lot was full. We inquired with the front desk of alternate parking and was told that we could look for parking around, but she wasn't sure if we would be towed. Her attitude was unprofessional and sassy. This was a wonderful experience! The price was amazing for the room and the quality. I had wanted an oven, but the studios did not have them. They moved me to a one bedroom, with no additional cost. The entire time the service was just as wonderful. Feeling very Spoiled!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This is a great hotel. Close to the airport and the MAX train is right out front, so you can get to downtown in about 25min, so it saves from parking and fighting traffic. For being close to the airport it is very quiet, and free breakfast. I always stay at this place when in Portland.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Wonderful customer service"
We arrived a day earlier than expected and the front desk staff quickly found us a room, then allowed us to check in to our previously booked room early the next day. The location is excellent with a Target right next door and shopping close by. We will definitely stay here again and recommend to friends. Thank you for a great stay!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Take MAX train, no need to rent a car in Portland"
Hotel is within steps of MAX train. Cascade Mall is only 5 minute walk. Lots of restaurants close by.Genuine Expedia guest review
I found the hotel suite extremely small and cramped.Genuine Expedia guest review
My husband, daughter and I spent a week at the Residence Inn by Marriot Airport. The location was perfect for taking transit into Portland with a MAX red line stop right outside the hotel. We also did a few day trips with our rental car. Only a half hour from Multnomah Falls and 90 minutes from Seaside. We started off each day with the complimentary […] breakfast buffet. A good selection of hot and cold choices. Monday and Wednesday evenings the staff put on a complimentary happy hour complete with snacks, wine and beer. The outdoor firepit was a lovely touch just outside the hotel lounge. Our room was equally nice with a fully equipped kitchen. You can find a decent grocery section at the Target just next door. Also have to recommend dinner at Farmer Dave's, just a fifteen minute walk or one MAX stop away (Cascade Station). They had great BBQ choices. I would highly recommend the Residence Inn by Marriott Airport. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Worth the extra money"
For stays longer than a week, this hotel is worth the modest fee increase compared to other hotels/motels you might find in package deals. The breakfast is substantial and surpasses "included breakfasts" at other properties. The facilities were modern, clean and very comfortable. Nice fitness room, pool area, patio with fire pit and even a BBQ grill. […] The basketball court was a huge added bonus! The comfort of having a mini-apartment/studio to unwind in when away from home was extremely relaxing. Residence Inn will be my future hotel of choice for stays greater than a couple days. In addition to the above, they even provided a manager's happy hour (food and beverages) which I was unable to take advantage of, but it's another example of the extraordinary value provided. Pay the little bit extra and enjoy an extremely relaxing and comfortable hotel experience. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Genuine Expedia guest review
"I think the suite layout is gorgeous!"
08/25/14 EAZELIFF Flagstaff, Arizona
I have stayed in this type of place elsewhere a few times, but I was really pleased with my overnight stay here. The decor may not be as ritzy or eclectic as say, a Kimpton Hotel, but it is very attractive and comfortable. I have been camping in my tent on most of this road trip, which I certainly like doing, but this was a palace for sure! If I needed to stay here for several days, I would prefer to go buy groceries and make some of my own meals. The only two points I could possibly raise were that there were no towels at the pool early in the morning, and the breakfast, which was otherwise pretty good, had cranberry juice that tasted too diluted. Otherwise, it was fine in every respect. On Saturday night, I was looking for something to do, and decided to go over to the Jazz Festival in downtown Vancouver, and drove over there in less than fifteen minutes. The next morning, my plan was to go to Trinity Cathedral downtown, which was another easy drive. A big plus to this place is that the Light Rail stop is right in front of the hotel, to the airport or other places in the Portland area, which I would certainly have used had my itinerary been a little different.
"Perfect Temporary "Home""

This Residence Inn proved ideal as a base for a recent two-week vacation stay in Portland. Aside from the comfortable, clean, and well-designed studio suite - excellent layout and nicely stocked kitchen area - the location was very convenient both for travel within Portland (the MAX light rail station could not be any closer) and for day car trips outside of the city. The free parking and proximity (within walking distance) to a variety of restaurants and stores - including Target, where I was able to get the groceries I needed - were much appreciated advantages. The building is attractive and well-maintained, quiet (airport noise was minimal) and the staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend this location as an excellent alternative to much more expensive downtown accommodation. Overall, I had a great experience and would certainly recommend this site to others! Will plan to stay here again when visiting Portland in the future.
"Nice place, well-located and friendly"

I only spent one night here, on the eve of an early flight. I wanted a suite to share with my sister, who was also leaving early the next day. We got a decent rate same day on the Marriott site, compared to other searches I did. They accommodated an early check-in, and I was able to leave my car there to pick up when I returned the next evening. The room was comfortable, tastefully decorated and quiet. The staff themselves were very friendly and helpful. (I do think the hotel was understaffed, but it didn't impact very negatively on the overall experience.) The pool and hot tub were nice. The location is perfect, if you need to get to the airport. The shuttle can take you, or you could get the MAX train right there at Mt. Hood Ave. station, one stop away from PDX. Target is right next door, and open until 11 pm.
"Great for car-free travel"
08/14/14 CalUrsus Oakland, California
This was a good choice for a late-night arrival at PDX, the shuttle arrived promptly even in the wee hours. The night staff hustled to find me non-feather pillows that were missing although I had requested in advance, but this was handled before my suitcase was unpacked. Comfortable suite for longer stays, but overnight was fine too.The breakfast is the usual eggs and waffles; having local coffee was good. Discovering that the MAX train platform is literally 50 feet out the door--priceless. Was able to zip with my bag to my downtown Portland destination the next morning; no cab or rental car hassle.

Stayed here for a night while delivering daughter to airport. Room was clean and comfortable for all 3 of us. Breakfast so-so. Nice stay overall, location is amazing. Nice place to walk. Lots of places to eat within walking distance. 5 min to airport by car or MAX. XYZ at aloft down the street had good beer on tap. Subway for those on a budget.
"Marriott Cascade Station Is Convenient"
08/05/14 jj_and_luigi arizona
We stayed at this hotel and made it our base of operations for travel as far north as Seattle SAFECO Park and as far east as Mt. Rainier National Park, The Gorge, Multnomah Falls and west along the scenic Oregon Coast. The hotel is located right on the MAX line so getting to and from downtown Portland and the airport is a snap - or in this case a VERY short walk across the parking lot. The 205 freeway on ramp is less than one mile. Full breakfast included and a place to prepare a home cooked meal at night left us all day to explore the beautiful Pacific NW. The hotel is located next door to a Target that also has a grocery store. We were also a few doors down from a mall. Free wi-fi. What more could we ask for? We turned in our car a day early and took the MAX to downtown Portland for Chinese and a walk along the river. The hotel shuttle took us back to the airport, but we could have used our day pass to get back to our departing terminal. Very clean, hotel staff great and a king-size bed to boot!
"Nice stay, Good Location, close to airport, some stores and transit station"
08/03/14 holidaysholidays Vancouver, Canada
Just stayed 2 nights from Thur to Sat. Overall a good stay. Hotel is close to airport. Transit station is directly opposite the hotel. Stores (to name a few: Target, Best Buy, Ross, Banana Republic Factory Stores) and eateries (Subway, Chipotle, Wendy's, Famous Dave's BBQ, Panda Express) are all within walking distance from hotel. Ample parking. Buffet Breakfast had a good mix such as scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, sausage, potatoes with sausage, pancakes, do it yourself waffle, oatmeal, bread and muffins, yogurt and some fruit - banana, pineapple. I noticed the bananas ran out during the later part of the breakfast hours on one of mornings. Also there wasn't enough metal cutlery and non disposable cups It was a little odd using a metal fork with a plastic knife (no metal knives available). Similar with cups, there were few cups and mostly disposable form cups which I thought wasn't quite environmental friendly. The room was a good size for studio suite. Most of the drawers in the dressers and bathroom were all ajar when we checked in. Not sure if it is a norm for this hotel to leave most ofl the drawers partly opened, just thought it was strange as I had to push in the drawers as I walked by. Came with kitchen (refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher) and some appliances, but we did not use the kitchen. The studio suite had a king bed and sofa bed. After we pulled out the sofa bed, there was a notice by the frame that said linen was in the closet, but we couldn't find any sheets other than a pillow, so had to phone the front desk to request for linens. While it was already past 10pm, the guy/staff at front desk was very quick to send the linens to our room. Overall a pleasant stay.

When we travel to Portland, we typically stay out in the airport area. First time here. Thought the suite was great, like walking in to a small apartment. Full size refrigerator, microwave, small stove top, kitchen sink and dishwasher. Much more comfortable than a standard hotel room. Light rail train stop, literally right outside the entrance (maybe 100 yards) made getting to an from downtown easy and economical ($5.00 day pass for an adult). Large shopping center with many dining choices also very close to hotel. Breakfast is complimentary, buffet style. Plenty to eat. Our trip was an annual trek we make to Portland to celebrate both mine and my wife's birthday which are both in July. We take in the Portland Architectural Heritage Center's annual historic home tour, as well as other activities that may be happening in the Portland area. Would easily stay there again next time we travel to Portland
"Good choice for airport"

Nice and large suites, well equipped. Close to the airport with free shuttle (about 5-7 min). Very comfortable bed, Complimentary breakfast (buffet style) Next to a small shopping center and just in front of a train station. Nice pool. From my room, I could see planes landing.

By now I'm learning that staying at any Marriott is unpredictable, usually a mix of the good and not so good. Such was the case at this Residence Inn. On the plus side: the indoor pool, the ample breakfast, the convenience to the airport and public transportation, the kitchens in the mini-suites. Minuses included an overall feeling of shabbiness (clean but run down), uncomfortable beds and a dearth of rooms with two beds for two adults.
