Fabulous Chalet Inn - Gatlinburg

This was a nice wintertime getaway. Close to Ober Gatlinburg ski resort and Smoky Mountain National Park. Hotel is old but clean and convenient to downtown Gatlinburg and hiking trails.

We have stayed at this hotel at various times. Each year that we would go back it was worse than the time before. The view is beautiful, but the lodging was not. We will not be going back there.

The only problem that we had was the booking was not correct, but the lady in registration made sure that we were put in a nice room and made sure they cleaned it right then. Staff was very nice.

Wonderful location, right off River Road. Reasonable rates for right in town. The hotel is not brand new, so not all rooms are in perfect condition, but work is being done and the staff are very helpful, allowing you to change to another room if available. Couldn't sleep for the roaring of in room AC which did not cool the room. Hotel staff were knocking at the door at 8:00 am to clean the room.

Our stay was absolutely wonderful. Great room with wonderful view of a running creek out our back door. Updated room. The attendant was very nice and stayed around due to traffic we were running a little bit behind, but glad we called ahead to notify them we were going to be late or once we got there we wouldn't have been able to check in due to they […] have no attendant at the office at all times. The one dissapointing thing was that we couldn't just walk to office to get snacks, no ice in the ice bin and no breakfast because they don't constitute making breakfast during their off season for only a handful of guest. Either your open and running a business all year around or shut down in the winter time. When a guest pays for what is on the website thats what they expect to get all year around not when it is convient for the business owner. Sell what you sell if your not going to offer certain things certain times of the year change your website to reflect that. Let people know up front what to expect. Read more

This hotel is cheap for a reason. Worth spending an extra 20-40 dollars for an upgrade. Lucky for me, it was only one night. Location could not have been better, which was the primary reason for my choice.

advertising misleading ! I never saw the "lush landscaping" or view . there was a stream but not visable from room 132 where we were., our view was the parking lot.which was full & difficult to find a space on the weekend. This room was very outdated with cracked bathroom tiles, carpet , windows & drapes. The tv remote had no battery cover ,batteries […] were taped in to the remote , which didn't half work. The house keeping service was excellent even though they don't have much to work with . There were roll out windows in the room & bathroom,& it was good to be able to open the window. There was a hole in the wall facing the bed. The room was dark with the old carpet & bed cover. We will not return . The ladies who checked us in were very nice though . Read more

I did like our stay BUT you have to move up and get QUEEN SIZE beds...... It was very quite so we could sleep and I would stay thee again. Rates were good. One more thing you do need new curtain liners, our was totally ripped in half.

The air conditioning system probably dated to when this hotel was one of the true resorts in Gatlinburg. Now, it sounds like an aircraft and the door doesn't really fit the frame of the room anymore. We got to the hotel on Sun @ 3:00 aka check in. and where told the room was was ready. we drove the the top building, went down this really cool hallway out the door, around the building(its a LONG walk but we thought it would be nice and secluded so it was worth it). We get to the room and the door is standing open and it has not been cleaned. We we […] carry EVERYTHING back to the car because the phone will not let you dial the main desk and drive back down there. After 15 minutes we were told it wuld be done in about 30 minutes. So we drove up to ober gatlinburg. Came back round 4:15 went back to the room carried everything in and it was till there door open nothing cleaned...Carried everything back to the car, drove back to the lobby and after 15 more minutes and the man driving up there he came back and said it would be done in 15 minutes...Drove up and waited until it was clean. On first appearance the room was very clean but we did see 2 roaches in the hall. But figures since it is partially outside it wasn't a big deal. We get back to our room that night and there are GIANT spiders everywhere! It;s like every time we look down or look somewhere we see them. But my husband insists its not a big dela and we try to settle in for the night. I reach behind the bedside table to plug my fan in for the night and there are some kind of weird worms in the carpet!!I'm not a bug person so i freak out. Not to mentioned as far as cleanliness they had not cleaned the bathroom the soap has been left from the previous people and they're was hair from someones shaving in the sink. So we decide we are leaving. We got the lobby to let them know and ask for a refund. As I'm sitting in the car my husband is inside I pull the visor down in my car and A ROACH FALLS OUT ONTO MY DASHBOARD!!! Our main goal was to snow ski, and the location of this hotel could not have been better, it was straight across from the tram to ober-gatlinburg. It is older, but clean. We had a King suite, and the mattresses were so uncomfortable. Both beds had a sunken spot in the middle. We also did not get our complimentary breakfast both days.
