      The location and view from the rooms at this hotel is simply fantastic. Terrific value. The staff is also excellent--very helpful and friendly. I would note, however, that the A/C in at least our room, was somewhat sub-optimal and once activated on our arrival, it took the better part of the night to bring the room to a comfortable temperature. I would recommend asking the hotel staff to turn it on in advance of your arrival, if you plan to be remaining in the room immediately upon check-in. Other than that small point, absolutely no complaints.

      Fine location for a night's stay before/after a flight. About 30 minutes by car from the Iraklion (Heraklion) airport, but better value than most other hotels that are closer to the airport. Clean, comfortable rooms (though note that air conditioning may cost extra; for us it was 5 euros). Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Free wi-fi was very, very slow and didn't well work in our room, so we had to go to the pool or the reception to use it dependably. The village just a few minutes walk west of the hotel has many charming restaurants and shops, with a vastly more relaxed and attractive atmosphere than the beach area.

      Beautiful 5-star hotel with spectacular setting overlooking Spinalonga Island, friendly, helpful and attentive staff, two large swimming pools (freshwater pool at the hotel and saltwater pool near the beach), rocky but nevertheless pleasant beach. My wife and I ate in all three restaurants and liked them all, but Flame was our favorite. It costs about three times as much to eat at the hotel, compared to one of the Tavernas or restaurants in Plaka or Elounda, but food and service was better at the hotel, in my opinion. Fitness center is available 24 hours a day with room key. We were there in May, and there were very few guests, no other Americans.

    A short guide to Agios Nikolaos Town

    A cheerful 19th-century fishing village turned holiday resort, Ayios Nikolaos overlooks Mirabello Gulf. It centres on a small, deep lake, ringed by tavernas and cafes, and connected to the sea by a narrow inlet, traversed by a bridge. Its big, modern, mid-range hotels are popular with package tours. Taxi-boats run from the harbour to beaches along the coast. Excursions include jeep safari trips to the Lasithi Plateau, dotted with windmills.

    Room allocated was not the same as the one in the pictures. It was considerably worse. The hotel is quite old and it shows in the rooms. Price was too high, for a 4 star hotel much more were expected

    Our booked room was a de luxe room but had two hotel air conditioning units on the roof. These kept us awake and at our request we were transferred to a different one which was much better. It was not possible to lock the balcony door on the second room although the room did contain a safe to keep our valuables. The art of laying tiles to enable water […] to drain away was not apparent at this hotel - puddles of water in the bathrooms and balconies (the latter from the air conditioning units, the former due to the shower screen being incorrectly installed). The remaining facilities were fine, particularly the main pool. Read more

    Det var en stor skuffelse å komme til et SÅ ekstremt gammelt og usselt hotellrom på et ellers flott hotell. Mørkt, uten utsikt,og med fuktskader på sengegavlen. Har aldri opplevd maken!! svarte så absolutt ikke til forventningene i det hele tatt. Fatter ikke at de kan være bekjent av dette her !!! da vi klaget på dette fikk vi tilbud om andre rom til […] samme pris med en helt anen standard ! så hvorfor skulle de plasserre oss der i utgangspunktet? Tydeligvis prøvde de med det dårligste først for oss. Når sant skal sies fikk vi et fint opphold til slutt, da vi valgte å betale en liten sum for å komme på et flott luxus rom. Men sitter likevel igjen med en flau følelse av å ha blitt forsøkt lurt. Read more
