"Perfect Fit"
I came to Ottawa for an out patient surgical event and had a friend meet me there to add a 3 day vacation to the trip. This center was perfect. Two rooms gave us both privacy and allowed me to recover in peace and quiet without inconveniencing my friend. Having our own kitchen made meals, snacks and unlimited tea and coffee possible by bringing our own supplies and dishes with us. Mall and fast food places within walking distance and bigger malls just a short drive away. Looking forward to another stay in the future

"Cheap but OK place to stay near Ottawa city center"
It is suite with TWO bedrooms and ONE bed in each room! Description says: "room with two double beds" which is not correct. Beds are too small for two adults. WiFi is NOT working at all. However there is wired connection if you can use it. Filthy carpets and chairs. Beside this, the suite is pretty clean and comfortable. Kitchenette with fridge, microwave and sink but not other stuff at all. Location is not easy to find. However, area is nice and quiet. Yes it is college dorm but it is OK to stay if you are not picky.

"Not a hotel, be prepared for college kids crowds"
This property is not a hotel. It is a converted dorm ("residence") that is used as a hotel during summer months, meaning they rent out the rooms on daily basis. Prepare to see single entrance, single elevator bank with only 2 elevators, 1 of which was not working. There were probably a hundred rooms on each floor. Imagine all of them trying to get out or get in through that one elevator. Imagine how long you would haul your luggage if your room is on the other end of the floor. Imagine the noise (past 11 pm) if your room was close to the elevator, like ours was. Imagine the kind of noise if the floor is filled with college kids, like it was in our case. The doors to the rooms were spring loaded, so they slam shut by themselves -- compensates for lack of cannon firing at the changing of the guards? but extremely undesirable at night. They try very hard to create hotel appearance. There are towels and toiletries, but no tea or coffee, not even a coffee maker. The price was right and there were brochures to local attractions in the lobby. Staff was responsive to maintenance requests. Our air conditioning unit was not working when we arrived, and it was 37 Celsius outside, 26 inside. We had to sweat it out until it was replaced the following day; seems like they could've checked it beforehand. They offered to move us, but the other room was shabby and at the very end of the winding corridor, so we refused. Overall, I would probably stay at a motel instead.

"It's a dorm"
like others have said, the R&CC is a college dorm utilized as a hotel during the off-season. That is to say, your room will be in the condition of a vacated and lightly furnished dorm room; at worst the walls might be a little dinged up and you might find a prior student's hair band hidden under the desk. If you're expecting posh digs or top-of-the-line service, why are you looking at this place? There's $500/night hotels that are right up your alley. If you're looking for a nice cheap place to rest your head for a few nights in walking distance to a shopping plaza and about 15 minutes from downtown, here it is.

"College Dorms but Oh So Nice!!"
These are college dorms that are used as hotel rooms to help the university make money over the summer. The suites were awesome. Very clean, private bathroom and kitchenette per suite. But it should be noted that you are indeed on a college campus. We drove all over trying to find a Residence and Conference Center and had to make an international call on a cell phone to get proper directions. Let it be known that the rooms themselves and the staff were amazing for the price!

"Nice dormitory."
Enjoyed staying there with two large rooms and a kitchen, but the WiFi was really slow. Also, the address wasn't very specific and it is difficult to find. The parking is not close to the entrance. Also it is noisy too when people walk and talk in its hallway. The water of shower head is weak.

"Won't come back next time!"
If you have activities at Nepean(Ottawa west) Sportsplex centre, this is the closest hotel that is open to the public in the summer. It's a 3 minute drIve (with no traffic), but during rush hour on weekdays it will take much longer. The price for a suite with 2 double beds in 2 separated rooms is really attractive. They have a full kitchen on each floor. There is a shopping mall across the street which has Loblows, Tim Hortons and McDonald's. However, the residence only has wired Internet but not wifi. Sometimes you maybe able to get the wifi signal but it's unstable. It's better to bring a laptop. I also bring my own bed sheets and pillow cases since the beds are fairly dirty. The service wasn't good during my stay. The people at the front desk and the cleaning crew were not friendly at all.

"back to college days"
My husband and I enjoyed staying at the Residence and Conference Centre West in Ottawa. It let us relive our college days except it was much quieter! The rooms are simple but comfortable. The beds are a little smaller than regular size but are comfortable. Every thing was thoroughly clean. It was wonderful having 2 bedrooms and a kitchen area with table, refrig and microwave and counter space. There were not dishes provided or paper towels so people staying here might want to bring paper plates and paper towels and plastic ware. The staff were polite and helpfull, transferring us to a handicapped accessible room when I brought it to their attention that the the walk to the room was more than I could handle. We definitely would recommend this to others who don't need a lavish atmosphere, just the basic.

A great value and close to amenities such as a grocery store, bank and restaurants. A value for a place to sleep, but not comfortable for hanging out. Bring kitchen supplies - cups, plates, plastic ware, etc as nothing is supplied. College student staff friendly and helpful in person but didn't answer phone messages left. About 15 minutes by car to Parliament Hill. Quiet at night! If you need a place to sleep this is well worth the price!

One day before i called and the operator told me if room is available you can check in but after 1 certainly you can check in. we went at 1.30 pm to check in there the receptionists did not allow us to check in saying not before 3.00 pm. i requested allow us to keep our belongings and eat our food we have to go out but not allowing. After explaining abiout telephone conversation and copy of email she checked the room alloted it was ready but she did not inform lastly she agreed for early checkin at 2.00. we went inside room was smelling could not enter. we kept our things and informed about the roo smelling. they said they will fix it. when we returned night 11.00 pm it was not fixed room still smelling. i requested for air freshner they don't have air freshner in stock disgusting. it was a not a roo m to sleep after paying so much and roaming out. we wanted to rest and sleep that is why we booked the hotel not to get smell. i went to the reception and complaint brought the receptionis to my room. he also could not enter. thank God this receptions SHEA in the night shift was good enough and he changed our room from 3057 to 1133 we got a new room this room was not smelling but it was very close to side doors. with lights on throughout the night and people walking no peaceful sleep this is how we spent our 2 nights. Please note this is not an hotel but a school dorm converted to a hotel and you have colleges students all around. Elevators not functioning well and you have to walk a long way to get to the main dormitory and parking is 1/4 mile away. If you want a dorm experience this is the place to go but this is not a hotel and should not be listed on this website as a hotel. If you are looking for a hotel don't choose this.

"This is a dorm - but don't let that stop you"
After reading other reviews, we decided to give this a try. Great price for Ottawa area. This is a college dorm on an active college campus - but that isn't a bad thing. Hard to find but spacious rooms, very clean. Our 2 Doubles were 2 separate bedrooms with double bed and desk in each. Third room had frig, microwave and table/chairs. Bathroom had shower. This is great if you are traveling with children - you can put them to bed and still stay up and talk/read/eat/drink/etc. Having the "kitchen" means you don't have to eat all your meals out, but kitchen doesn't have any supplies - bring your own. Wi-Fi was spotty, even in lobby. There is a convenience store in lobby and a small mall a few blocks away with Tim Hortons, McDonalds, grocery store. Easy 15 minute drive to downtown Ottawa.

"Good value for money, but THIS IS A COLLEGE DORM."
Nice place overall and good value for money but they need to make it clear this is a dormitory converted to hotel during the summer months. I suggest two things to fix: Make it clear this is on the campus of Algonquin College...it's difficult to find otherwise. Also, the new WiFi system doesn't work... need to fix ASAP.

"Excellent low cost option!"
We very much enjoyed the double rooms with 2 TV's plus a kitchen for a moderate amount. Downside, finding the dorm room was difficult. They should state that it is part of the Agonquin college and maybe put up some signs. They were not flexible at all with the check out time. Good location. The college kids that manage this are all very nice. No breakfast. Tim Horton's next door.

"Nice dorm apartment"
It should be noted that this is actually the dorms where students reside during the school year. I got to the area looking for a hotel when I realized I needed to look for the student dormitories. The apartment-like setting is nice since it includes a kitchenette, a fridge, two rooms, a bathroom, wired internet, cable tv, etc. Parking is not included and must be paid for to the school. Otherwise, your car will be towed. The dorm is close to a bus station, a 24 hour grocery store, a shopping center, and some restaurants. Getting downtown from there is very simple and only takes one bus. Be careful about your return time as certain buses don't get there after a certain time. It's best to get a day pass for the bus if you're using the bus. It's well worth it and can take you all over the place. What's even better is that one day pass works for a companion too during the weekend!

"You get what you pay for."
Very difficult to find this place. Look for Algonquin College buildings. The address is the same for numerous college buildings in this area. The name of this place is somewhat misleading. Residence and Conference Centre led me to think business traveller. Make no mistake, this is a college dorm room rented out for the summer. Great for the price but akin to a stay in a hospital room. Very industrial feeling. Not a room you want to linger in but fine for sleeping and storing your stuff. Close enough to highway for 15 minute drive to downtown Ottawa. Free light breakfast - cereals, toast, bagels, coffee, juice. WiFi did not connect for me but I'm sure it could be sorted out if I bothered to ask for help.

The building shares the same address as the rest of the campus apparently so it can be a slight challenge to locate. Asking security for directions resolved that quickly. Room was very spacious and clean. Check-in was very quick and the staff very polite. Both beds were comfortable although one was rather noisy. I also had to toggle the breaker a few times when the ac would stop working. For the price, I would definitely stay there again, hopefully the ac would stay on without assistance.

Its not a queen bed, so if trying to accommodate 2 people on the bed, would be tight. But then, you have two rooms, i.e., 2 beds available if so. For around $75 I paid, the money wasn't spend wrong. "Best deal on our trip"
First of all, let me be clear that this is NOT a hotel--it's the residence halls (i.e. "dorms") of Algonquin College, about 15 minutes southwest of downtown. But it's not the college dorm from your youth: not only is it a brand-new building in excellent shape, residence hall designers these days also understand that today's students value their privacy. Gone are the bunk beds and toilets-down-the-hall; nowadays, students get private bedrooms and a semi-private bathroom. That's how it's set up here: your reservation is actually for a two-bedroom suite with a kitchenette and bathroom shared between the two bedrooms. Each room (remember, you get two rooms per booking--an excellent value!) has a double bed, a work desk, a small TV, a new IP phone, and wired (not wireless) Internet. The kitchenette has a full-size sink/refrigerator/microwave (no cooktop/oven) and a table. The bathroom is large and clean with a shower stall (not tub) that is reasonably large. Sure, the room is Spartan, but what do you really need other than a bed? (Just to be clear, the bed is made up, and towels/shampoo/soap is provided.) Also, some other reviews mentioned a lack of air conditioning--the room definitely DID have a/c. Also, a free light breakfast is available in the lobby with several choices of cereal plus toast, bagels, coffee, and OJ. Best deal in Canada!
