Cannot beat the accomodations for the price. Good location for my needs with clean rooms and quiet surroundings but that may be because most students were away. Continental breakfast good but not extravagant; coffee, juice, small muffins, apples and oranges. I will return if I'm in the area again.

It is important to understand that this is a college residence facility. We didn't know that when we made the reservation. Problems: This was a one night stop over for us. It is not entirely convenient in terms of location - quite a bit off the 401, and even further off the ETR, and it is not easy to find. There is a small kitchenette included, and two bedrooms, in each suite. The tiny refrigerator was an unexpected pleasure for us, as we needed to refrigerate some food following a longer than expected drive. Student residences are a great deal during the summer if you are looking for a clean place to sleep for the night. They are not "destinations" or full service hotels but at a fraction of the price of a hotel the UOIT facility was good value. One issue however: the rooms are in the new residences at the back of the campus and the exterior shots used […] on Hotels.com are of the old residences near Simcoe street in the front of the campus (and which are closed for the summer) which is misleading. The hotel was a straightforward drive away from shops, gas station etc. Hotel car park access was a little too far from the main entrance, but parking was ample. The front doors were slow and difficult - automatic sliding doors would probably work better and faster for guests having a lot of luggage, or who are wheelchair-bound. Upstairs corridors and […] carpeting were in need of a good cleaning and sprucing up. Carpet on the very long walkway from front desk to elevator would help to silence the noisy rattle of the luggage cart wheels on the tiled flooring. The room was very clean and well presented. Plenty of fresh towels, and a nicely- sanitized bathroom. The loan of an iron and mini ironing board from the front desk worked well for me. The continental breakfast menu was somewhat sparse - just a fruit, a wrapped muffin and a hot beverage. On another morning, hungry guests were unable to find the breakfast venue, as there was no sign anywhere to let guests know that breakfast been moved to another location outside the main building. However, the front desk and breakfast staff were friendly and polite. It was also very nice to find 24-hour coffee available in the elevator lobby - just wished the empty hot water pump could be refilled for the tea-lovers! We enjoyed our stay. There were many soccer teams in residence and I was concerned about possible noise, but it is a large building and in the area we stayed everything was quiet. If I am in the area, I would definitely stay there again.

Being in town for a wedding meant that we were busy all throughout our stay. The R&C centre's purpose was just to have a place to rest our heads between our action packed days, and it served that purpose quite well. Certainly, this is not a luxury hotel and only the barest of amenities were provided, but it was perfect for our intent and at a very […] reasonable price. The rooms were well maintained, clean, and the neighbourhood was quiet. The staff was friendly and unafraid to help us whenever we needed it; whether it was for scissors, directions, or recommendations, they were also on the ball. Some might complain about the continental breakfast, but I didn't find it bad. There was an unlimited supply of juice, coffee, cereal, muffins, toast, and fruit. One can purchase the option to add "hot food" to your breakfast for a small price, in case the aforementioned goods don't do it for you. The only odd thing about the R&C centre is that the surrounding streets are poorly labeled, if they're labeled at all. Commencement drive does not have a street sign and Simcoe was not labeled when approaching from Conlin. Having a GPS was handy, but it was obvious when we were in the campus region so it wouldn't have been to hard in any case. I would recommend this for people on a budget, who aren't looking for anything fancy. As part of the university/Durham college, it has to maintain high standards of cleanliness and good service, but still supplies everything one would expect from a hotel. I wouldn't honeymoon there, but I'd definitely go back in the future. Read more

Good points are cost, cleanliness and the fact that each unit has two separate bedrooms - so you can close the door to your room and have added sound-proofing & privacy. If you close your bedroom door and want to add the extra soundproofing of wearing earplugs - noise levels are not an issue. You can go to way more expensive hotel and still be disturbed […] by noisy neighbours - so I don't see this as a factor.
