"Clean hotel 10 mins from Venice's main bus station"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
The rooms were clean and spacious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The included buffet breakfast consisted of eggs, cold meat, cereal and fresh baked croissants. This hotel is great value! It is a 10 minute walk from the Mestre bus/train station, next door to a supermarket and close to kebab/pizza restaurants and some pubs. It is very easy to get into central Venice. There is a bus right across the street that comes every 10 mins and takes about 12 mins to get to the main bus station in Venice. It costs a little over a euro one way and you can get the ticket at the reception (along with vaporetta tickets). Keep in mind though that st.mark's square is about a 35 min walk from Piazalle Roma ( the bus station). Unless you want to lug your bags through the narrow, busy streets and (many) staircases of Venice and pay a fortune for a dump, I would recommend staying in the Mestre area and this hotel was great value for the money.

"Venice May 2012"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
We stayed 1 night only and were very happy with the hotel. Dont forget to get you key from Hotel Luca as the Casa Dolce has no reception. The feeling of the hotel is as you were resident of Venice. We highly recommend it.

"Don't stay here"
I have been to Venice many times and planned a trip with very short notice so finding a room on a Friday night was difficult during this busy season. I was able to find a room at Alla Vita Dorata through Hotels.com. When I arrived I was shocked. It was supposed to be a Bed and Breakfast but it was more like a rooming house. From what I understand, […] according to Venetian law, a Bed and Breakfast is supposed to be in someone's home. This was not the case. Not only is this not someone's home but the front desk is not manned after 7 pm. My room was right in the front hallway and my front window was right next to the front door. My window, by the way, did not have bars on it and windows in Venice are not like the USA. Every residence in Venice located on the first floor has bars on the windows for security because the windows themselves are not secure and the one in my room was also not secure. Anyone could have climbed in my window. The room was as big as a closet and the shower was not separate but simply a drain in the floor in the bathroom. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by a young boy about 14 years old. When I saw the room I didn't want to stay but he could do nothing so he had to call his mother on the telephone [cell phone only because the facility does not have a telephone]. After an argument with this woman, I was told that my credit card would not be charged. If you want to ignore my review, at least be very careful and don't leave anything valuable in your room when you go out. Read more
"Ruhig gelegen, man fühlt sich willkommen"
Alles tipp topp.
