"Nice, cheap hotel. Location is a bit sketchy.."
This was an OK room for the price. The only complaint was that the walls are thin and our room constantly smelled like cigarette smoke. At night, if we turned off the bathroom fan, the bathroom would smell of heavy cigarette smoke! Yuck! The location of the hotel is also a bit odd, in a very ethnic neighborhood and the people looked sketchy! But other […] than that, if you're looking for a cheap room, this is it! "An alright Hotel"
The location is not the most welcoming. Allot of shady characters in his part of town. We did feel safe inside the hotel. You have to go through three doors to get to your room. The lady that primarily works there was very nice and let us keep the keys to access the building for the toilet and let us keep our bags in a storage room so we could do some […] more sight seeing before our evening train. There is an underground just a half block away so if your planning on using the subway it's a perfect location. The hotel is very hard to find. We spent 20 minutes looking for it. It is in the middle of one of the city blocks. Look for number 55 there will be two huge double wooden doors. You have to be buzzed in. Check in is on the first floor up the stairs to your right. Good luck. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This B&B was a bit hard to find upon first arriving, however its within walking distance of the Colosseum and a block from the subway. The staff was very helpful and gave us a map outlining where everything was and the best way to get there. The only downside to the hotel was that surround neighborhood...there wasn't a lot to do or restaurants we were […] able to locate, however, you can't beat the ease of travel from the location. "This is not a Hotel"
When we arrived we were faced with a locked door at street level and no response to ringing the bell. There were no instructions as to how one could contact the "hotel". Once inside the building we were faced with another locked door and when kind neighbours phoned the number given by Hotels. Com we could hear it ringing in the unattended set of 6 rooms. […] This was very frustrating to weary travellers. Eventually an upstairs B&B managed to phone the owners and once Veronica came and let us in we found it very clean and she was very helpful. It was centrally situated but there were not a lot of places to go to for breakfast.Veronica's own restuarant fairly nearby was excellent and very popular. The rooms were made up daily, but the absence of any reception desk or available phone would have been a crisis if any emergency arose. It was in fact a set of 6 clean rooms that were let and not a hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel Meraviglia Rome"
Pros - good location. Near train station termini and next to a metro stop. - the staff were really nice. Showed us popular destinations and how to get there. And we're just genuinely nice. - the room itself was clean and had a nice bathroom. - pretty inexpensive for Rome. Cons - could not find the place! It is not really a hotel. It's rooms on the […] first floor of an office building and not displayed as a hotel. The only indication that it is a hotel outside is a sign that says 'inn'. We had to call the hotel so they could come down and find us. - there is no 24 hour reception. - the surrounding area was rough looking. - air-conditioning did not work and made the stay awful as it was ridiculously hot. - very very noisy due to busy outside street. And broken ac added to it cause we had to leave a Window open. If not we would have melted. It was so loud we barely slept. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A good budget vacation"
Hotel Meraviglia is cheap but the property is in good repair and the rooms are cleaned daily. We had trouble getting in when we arrived late at night (22.15). No one was there to greet us but as soon as we rang the hotel's phone number (I'd recommend taking this with you as it's not on display anywhere) someone was with us in 3 minutes. The building […] is easy to find if you look for the address, but difficult to find if you look for a sign! The sign for the hotel is small and the building itself is part of a terraced row of shops and apartment buildings. We walked past the hotel as the outside of the building looks like an apartment block. The room we had was a decent size bedroom with an en suite bathroom at the front of the hotel. The shower was really powerful and everything was cleaned on a daily basis. The area got a bit noisy a couple of nights as there's a bar in the square outside, but it depends how light a sleeper you are. Meraviglia is no 5* hotel and there are no dining area but it's a great place to stay if you're just looking for a room from which to explore the city. It's pretty much on top of the metro station and it's only one stop from the termini (or 20mins walking distance). We had a really nice time there and would go back again but if you're expecting the Ritz you'll be disappointed. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Simple, Cheap but did the trick."
The hotel itself was what I was expecting for the price. Simple and basic but clean and convenient. We were suprised to have a bar fridge as the other places we had stayed at similar rates did not have a fridge at all. My only complaint was that we had some very unusual didturbances both nights from neighboring rooms. We found it covenient for food, […] shopping and most importantly it was east to find our way to the tourist sites. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very convenient location"
Our room in this hotel is small but clean and warm, which has independent bath room. It has very convenient location. Just two minutes to a medro station entrance and the station is a next one to the termini station, the traffic center of Rome. The owners were friendly and helpful. Considering its low price, I was satisfied to their service and like […] to recommend this hotel. Our room was beside a main street, so it is not suitable to a person very sensitive to the noise and street lights. But it was not serious, which was not a problem to my wife and me. Another shortcoming is that the sign of this hotel is not very obvious, so there is a little difficult to find it at the first time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good budget rooms and location"
07/20/14 AdrianGigi C London, United Kingdom
The hotel is in a very handy location, right near Termini station and less than 15mins to the Colosseum. But it was a little surprising to see that it was in a terrace house above a row of shops- the neighbourhood isn't the nicest, but not unsafe. The reception isn't staffed all the time, so we had to wait about half and hour before we could get let in the building. A part from that, the rooms are actually very nice, really clean and modern and quiet. The staff were helpful enough when we needed them and the location was brilliant, we were able to walk to all the of major attractions or jump on the tube - there is a tube stop on the same street too. Overall we felt that this was a good place to stay, really accessible, good price and clean comfortable rooms.
"Good budget place."

We had 2 nights here in June. The hotel is about a 10/15 minute walk from the Termini station, now I'm a well travelled person and used to staying in all sorts of places, but even I had to admit that I didn't like the area that the hotel was in, and if I was travelling alone or with only women I would feel quite uncomfortable walking around the area. Which was a shame as the Hotel is very sweet. It is on the 1st floor but there is a lift provided. We couldn't get into the main building when we arrived and we buzzed and buzzed but no one answered so I called the hotel and the lady said someone would be there in 15 minutes. True to their word a lovely chap called Domenico came and let us in, he showed us our little room and we settled the bill before our stay, as the hotel is usually unmanned. He was so friendly and helpful, gave us a great map and marked where we should go, he even sang us a song! The room was very small but clean, the bathroom again was compact but had everything we needed, and I couldn't say anything was dirty! A little dated perhaps but the cleanliness was great. Our bed was a little creaky but surprisingly comfortable. We didn't use the maid service, they knocked and offered but we didn't feel we needed it as we only stayed 2 nights, they did change the towels for us though. The metro station is only 2 minutes up the road which is great, although we usually walked everywhere we needed to be. It's a shame about the area as this is a great little hotel, when I next come to Rome I will probably stay in a different area, but I would reccommend this place on the whole!
"Good for budget beds"
05/22/14 Ryan M
My wife and I stayed here during our visit to Rome. I had stayed here once previously and thought it is the best you can get for that price. I still stand by that. The area is not great. It's quite dirty and shabby. There were times I didn't quite feel safe, but I knew that it would be ok. The metro is really close, less than a 2 minute walk. Termini is close too. That's why there are so many vagrants. There is a good little cafe down the block in front of the steps down to the metro and the make some good pastries. The hotel itself is only 6 rooms. When we arrived we were in room 3 which is huge and faces the street. The bed was very comfy. We were moved into room 6 which is across the hall and faces the courtyard and it quiet but the bed sucked! It was very loud and uncomfortable. I never had any issues with other guests making noise, even though I presume the walls are thin because you can hear people come into the hallway. The front desk is usually not manned, which isn't really an issue for me. The beds and towels are cleaned and made each day and the showers and bathrooms work great. There is no safe, which is a bummer but there are good locks on all the doors. The original gelato place is about 200m away and there is a supermarket maybe 400m away. Walks to the colosseum are easy and to get anywhere else the metro works well. If you are looking for luxury and something really nice, this isn't it. If you are just looking for a place to sleep, this is a good bet for the price. I wouldn't suggest single women visiting or even pairs only because of the neighbourhood but I think that it would be safe for most people. Enjoy!
"cute and comfortable"
we stayed for three nights and it was like our home... it was very comfortable, the room was big and very clean. the staff was really friendly, they asked us everyday if there is anything they can do or we need anything. it's very close to the metro station (linea A-P.zza Vittorio Emanule). and you can walk to the colosseo in 15 min. only problem might be the neighbourhood... it's not the best. we didn't feel that safe when we're turning back in the night. but its so close to the metro so we didn't care that much.
"Good and cheap place to stay."
06/24/13 Maria_Barb0sa Greystones, Ireland
To start, I stayed in the hotel for 2 nights with more 3 people (mom, dad and brother). The hotel is located about 15 minutes walking to the Colesseo, what is great! Is also 15 minutes walking from the main train station Rome Termini. About the building... it doesn't have the best look from outside. Is an old building with a small elevator (but is in the first floor, so is ok to take the stairs). I think the reception works from 9am to 5pm, Veronica is a very lovely woman. She gave us a very useful map and showed how to reach all the touristic points and indicated a very good restaurant near the hotel. She doesn't have a fluent english but I had no problem with that. I read in other reviews that there was some ''strange people'' in he area, but I actually in the 3 days I stayed there i just saw one homeless woman but she wasn't even asking for money. There is in fact lots of shops around and lots of street sellers. The rooms are of a good size for 4. The bed are ok, but nothing very comfy, just ok. The sheets and towels are clean, the shower is very good as well. There is a tv with lots of channels and a hairdryer in the room. The internet signal is really good, no bother with that. Finally, the place is good. No luxury at all, so you pay what you get you know?
"the best low budget hotel i've stayed"
05/21/13 Evgenia M Kavála, Kavala, Greece
I stayed there for 5 nights with my mother!! The only difference with a hotel is that it doesn't have a 24h reception but every morning Veronica was there to clean up the rooms, change towels and give information about everything we needed... It is very close to the Metro station and in front of a very beautiful park in which you see the everyday life of Italians. The location is as any other area around a train station in the world, friendly immigrants, 3-4 homeless guys, nothing to be afraid of at all. By the park (piazza Vittorio) is a pavilion-cafe which serves amazing cappuccino at just 1.30euro and brioche at 1.00euro (the cheapest found in Rome) I expected it worse when i made the booking and i was happily surprised. (whoever wants the "Plaza", pays for the "Plaza") I would totally stay there again!
"NOT a Hotel"
03/26/13 pfcruz Saint Louis
This is NOT a hotel! This is an office building that they converted some office space on the 1st floor into rooms. There is no concierge, and I had to call the number for someone to come over and open the door of the building for me to enter. The homeless guy who sleeps in front of the door kept me company for the 10 minutes I waited. She checked me in and left for her other job. Gave me the key of the building, the key to the "office space"/hotel and the key to the room and promised someone would come clean it the next morning.
"Good budget hotel"
03/25/13 Geem1985 Leicester, United Kingdom
We had trouble getting into the hotel when we first arrived (it was late at night) and had to phone the hotel to get someone to come and let us in. They arrived in 3 minutes but I'd recommend taking the phone number with you just in case as it's not written down outside of the hotel and you can't get in the front door without a key. We also had a bit of trouble finding the hotel and walked past it without realising. If you find it using the address/google maps then it's exactly where it says it will be but the sign outside is really small and the building itself looks like an apartment block. The room we had was at the front of the hotel and comprised of a bedroom with a double bed and bunk beds, and an en suite bathroom. The shower was amazing and the room was cleaned to a good standard on a daily basis. The bed was very comfortable and there were extra blankets in the wardrobe. The staff were very friendly and spoke good English. They were always there in the morning when we went out and in the afternoon when we returned for a break. The room did get a little noisy at night as there is an outdoor bar by the square but it was only really busy on the Saturday and Sunday nights. The hotel is located pretty much on top of the Vittorio Emanuele metro station and is only one stop/20mins walk from the main station, Termini which was great when we had to walk there to get the bus to the airport at 4.30am. If you are flying to/from Ciampino then I recommend getting the airport shuttle bus. It was only 8euros for a return trip and the bus was waiting there from 4am. The bus did get full though and someone was turned away because there was no space. There's a taxi rank nearby but if you want to guarantee a seat on the bus then you need to get there early as the bus tickets are open return and are not for any specific bus. I would definitely stay at Mereviglia again. If you're expecting a 5* hotel then you'll be disappointed but as a cheap base for exploring Rome it was perfect.

The hotel is situated really close to the Termini station and about 10 min walk to the Colosseum. The room was clean and very pretty and the facilities were very good. You can find it easy from the Vittorio Emanuele metro station and you have a lot of shops in the nearby. Totally recommend it.
