I was very happy with my stay. The hotel staff were all very friendly and spoke enough English to assist me when needed. The room was very small but very clean and modern to include the bathroom. The hotel restaurant and bar offered a great menu. I rated the location and area low only because there is nothing in the town to do but there is much to do within 20-30 minute drive. if you are looking for remote then you will love it. I would definitely stay here again.

All in all great hotel. Parking was the only issue, however it can be done. Room was wonderful and blew us away for the price. The mini bar was cheap too! Great location on the river and admist the high fuluton shopping zone. About a 15min walk to the more commoner filled locations. I say this because there is not much to do in carlsbad minus spas and a few empty casinos. Shopping is limited to high end stores and the typical tourist "buy my suiveners" shops.

We first saw this hotel when it was abandoned many years ago when we were stationed in Heidelburg. Was thrilled to be able to stay here when it was renovated. Fabulous hotel, incredible food, friendly staff. This is a experience to remember the rest of your life. The town is charming, like stepping back in time a hundred years.

We visited here about 20 years ago. Much better condition now, a grand hotel with a beautiful interior/exterior. Jr. Suite was spacious, great view, nicely appointed bath - but still hotel is just barely 4 star. Def. NOT five! Staff members aren't friendly, don't smile, not gracious, just doing their job. Dining staff need training and supervision-they flounder and don't know how to work efficiently. Breakfast buffet, but not well planned for resupply as items emptied. There are other high rated hotels, next time would try another for comparison - but worth staying here at least once.

Hotel was quaint and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and had lots of choices. Staff was very friendly and attentive to our every need. Other reviews discuss staff not speaking English. I cannot speak to this as we did not attempt to speak to them in English, choosing to try our German and Czech. Hotel was within walking distance of town square, where there were multiple dining choices. I cannot speak to the spa services, as we did not use these services. We will defintely stay here again!!

This hotel was exceptionally clean and the staff were very helpful. Not a luxury hotel but a good value for the money. (The towels though were rough, as if they were air dried, a little time in a dryer would be nice) The only concern, and surprise was that in order to keep our reservation we had to arrive by 7PM. There was no one at the desk after 7PM! […] This was not mentioned and had we not called ahead we would have been unable to stay at this hotel. Nice hotel, if it wasn't for the hotel service. I went there with my best friend and one personel acted very angry as soon as we asked for anything. Refused to help out with information and had an overall bad attitude. The whole stay was definitly destroyed just because we couldn't relax because of her.
