Punthill Davis Avenue - South Yarra

South Yarra/Melbourne is conveniently located by both the tram & train. Small apt was comfortable & had a garden atmosphere. Quiet; being older did not bother us. Air conditioning could have cooled better. We would return.

The building looks a bit old, however, the apartments are refurbished, comfortable, clean and everything is perfect. Close to an area with lots of shops and cafes in South Yarra, not too far from St Kilda. Overall, a very recommendable place to stay.

Our room was suppose to be a non smoking room but it stank of stale cigarettes which permeated our clothes. We have stayed at these apartments on 2 previous occasions but not in room 20. It was really bad. In saying that the manager was very pleasant, situated in a very convenient location, it was clean & we would stay again. Very reasonable rates.

Enjoyed my stay at Punthill Apartments, very convenient, close to Chapel street, railway station and easy access to trams. Parking a large car was a bit of a hassle, narrow laneway entrance. Very quiet location, rooms sizable. Enjoyable stay.

This was the best value for money & location we've ever had in Melbourne. Rated 3&1/2 * due to age of building and basic accom, it was very clean, had all facilities that you would need if not concerned about utter luxury. Though no Cable TV, had a DVD player and plenty of places around where you could buy or rent DVD movies. In a very quiet street […] yet only 1-2 minute's walk to the tram and train, and ability to buy tickets right there. Perfectly located for the walk to Chapel St (only about 3 or 4mins) & right near Toorak Rd, however NO noise came from there. Cafes and restaurants abounded in the area and only about 7 mins walk away is a brand new Woolworths supermarket and new mall complex, incl a BigW.Also very easy walk through back streets to Prahran markets. Access to all the fashion boutiques, Jam Factory, and the many shops that Chapel St is famous for, was utterly easy. All you needed was an umbrella and a coat. The short walk to Chapel St allowed you to get the tram to Bridge Rd and Swan St for the famous bargain shopping, whereas catching the tram, from near the units, up to St Kilda Rd , allowed you to change onto the line to get to St Kilda itself. Being able to get no cost parking behind the units, though tight, was a bonus. While it was definitely not a 4 star establishment it had everything that we needed, so were utterly happy with our stay. The sofa bed, which I tried out one night with my sleeping bag to see how it would be for my back in future, would not be a great option. Perhaps our unit had a poor one for my back, but it would be worth checking with the staff if the unit had one that was okay before booking for a 3rd person in a unit.The queen size bed was very comfortable however. As the units have been obviously updated, all bar the old stove, which worked perfectly fine, it was an excellent place to stay. Ein sehr gemütlíches Hotel in guter, ruhiger Lage - ein guter Ausgangspunkt zum Erkunden der Stadt. Eine Metro- und Strassenbahnhaltestelle ist nicht weit entfernt. Parkplätze für einen PKW der Gäste sind ebenfalls vorhanden.
