The hotel was horrible. They had construction going on on the floor above and despite of calling them over 5 times in a span of 3 hours, they didn't stop the drilling. The room was dirty and was not cleaned properly. There was a Qtip lying on the floor. The centralized AC of the hotel is not good and I fell sick because of it

first impression of the hotel at the ground floor is very good. the rooms in the first 4 floors stink like cigarette smoke. The Savavera is not the best hotel I have ever stayed in, but I feel "at home" there and will stay there again. Best are the friendliness and help of the staff, and the swimming pool. The only difficulty I had was with the computers not working well. The room was fine and the house cleaners very helpful. All and all a pleaseant place to stay.

For people visiting the US embassy for their visa needs this is a convenient location. The breakfast provided in the morning was very good. The room was clean but a little outdated. For some reason the internet connectivity wasnt that great. Overall a decent stay for a business trip.

From the entrance at the front door to requests for laundry or toilet paper, attendants were quick to the delivery. I am used to Western Civilization or tourist islands or European tourists surroundings. […] Chennai is not like that. But once you enter inside, you wouldn't know that. Rooms I stayed in or was shown either needed renovation or repair. Afew I refused to stay and had to ask for alternate which were barely passable. This hotel is fairly close to the consulate- 40 rupees away. We got a non- smoking room that smelt of smoke with an ash tray and matches which i found funny. We wanted an extra bed for the third person but only got a mattress which i was later told was the norm. The restroom builds up water quickly and smells but i later learnt that was normal. The hotel lobby is very nice, comfortable. well lit. The prices for food is quite high. internet did not work for 3 out of the 5 days. the rooms area comfortable, but the hallways are dark and carpeting is old and smells. for the price the hotel accomodations, are acceptable.

My parents and relatives stayed here and they were very happy about the hotel service and maintenance. The staffs are very good and friendly. They too keep the food items in the refrigerator and they are chargeable. Based on my parents comments, I will stay here next time.

Most people traveling in India should know/realize that 3 or 4 stars here are not the same as 3 or 4 stars in Western Standards. I was expecting the slow service. Rooftop restaurant was excellent. I book this hotel for my business trip in Chennai, my first time ever in India. Front desk staff was very nice, even so quite busy. My room was nice, comfortable. It was clean but you could tell it is a little old and in need of some upkeep, refurbishing. Free breakfast buffet was good and very busy in the morning with plenty of choice. They had a nice […] pool, even so very few people used it. I felt quite safe, always important for a woman traveling alone. Location was great, 10mn by auto taxi (rickshaw) from the beach and about 40mn to Trade center where I visited a trade fair. Neighborhood was safe. I used the small travel agent office located in the hotel (they are independent from the hotel) to book a driver for a full day side trip to Tirupati which was an amazing experience. Upon checking out there was some mixed up as an expensive dinner and plenty of drinks were charge to my room, but after insisting that it was not mine they took it out of my bill without too much trouble. If I go back to Chennai, will I book the same hotel? YES! Most definitively. Would I recommend this hotel? YES! Read more

Very conviniently located and well maintained, except that the room we got wasnt that good. And alternate room wasnt available. The restaurant prices are comparatively high for the restaurant and the quality. But it was good. The A/c Did not function to the expected state in our room and although the technical personnel came immediately upon the reciept […] of the complaint, they could not do much. (Maybe the weather of chennai to blame?) had to make do with a pedestal fan to keep us cool out there. The house keeping staff was very prompt but not so prompt for clearing the plates. Had to keep the plates outside the room eventually. This makes the hotel look cheap. My room was exactly below the roof top restaurant and there was work going on which kept disturbing us in the afternoon on the day of our arrival (especially i had driven down from bangalore) . It had to be taken up to the management to stop the noise. Overall i was very happy though. For the price i got from Hotels.com website and other factors which makes me to like the hotel. Very friendly staff and making their best to keep you happy attitude. Some problems like the one above did exist. The food was great although we did not taste all the restaurants in the hotel. Will surely stay in this hotel again but not sure if its on the rack rate. The hotel should be downgraded to 3 star category too. Read more

The Savera, though in need a refit sooner than later (which is coming), is spot on for value for money (except Club 146), matched with the location with quick access to Marina Beach, Central station, Cricket Stadium, restaurants and shopping of R K Salai, and just 30mins by road to the airport. The biggest downside is the rooftop restaurant not opening […] until 7pm. It's a perfect location for afternoon and sunset beverages yet you're not 'allowed' to be there until it's open. Could not get restful night's sleep because of noise from neighbouring rooms. There was a door to an adjoining room which allowed noise to travel through well beyond midnight.. On the other side there was a constant stream of noisy visitors one night which continued until 1.30 am. The door bell for this room sounded in our room every time it was rung […] and that was dozen of times. In the end I had to get up and ask them to be quiet.
