This was a get away weekend during the Whale Festival. I'm a solo traveller and found this to be a wonderful setting. You have to drive to most spots to see in Ucluelet including the beaches and the trails, but that could be said about all locations - and this setting is worth that. The hotel has a great location, wonderfully designed rooms and nice staff. The only thing I really had issues with was the pull-out-sofabed that was horribly uncomfortable. Having asked for a 2-bed-room and then not being able to use it was not a good experience.

Great location. Lots of room. Great view from windows and hot-tub on the deck. Beds and carpeting should be replaced. Friendly, helpful staff. Kayaks and bikes available for no extra charge. Can walk into town to restaurants. We shopped at the Co-op and made meals in our condo. Would stay here again.

We stayed for 5 nights. Beautiful location overlooking the little harbour on one side and the bay on the other. Eagles often flying by our 3rd story window. Great hotel right on the water. We paid for the upgraded water view and were happy that we did. Even with the cool nights we slept with the windows open and the sound of waves rocking us to sleep. The rooms were quite small. Hard to move around. But great lobby/hangout area in hotel. Would highly recommend this hotel.

We arrived late and found there to be no one at the desk to check us in, fortunately they had an emergency number to call and Jim picked up right away and provided us instruction on how to get into our room. Once we checked in with the staff the next morning they were very helpful in recommending local restaurants and local attractions. The property […] is right on the water with a nice walking path around the inlet. Since the rooms overlook the water, we had a great view of bald eagles right from our deck. The rooms are like a small apartment with full kitchen, bath, bedroom, living room with fireplace and dining area. The Waters Edge is a multitude of condo units,some privately owned, company owned and some permanent residences all in the mix. Very nice location and reasonably priced compared to many of the other resorts in the area. Our condo unit faced the inlet view which I favored over the harbor view. We stayed for 2 nights In which time we saw a bear,bald eagle, […] otter and many fishing boats from our picture window. The resort is conveniently located to the Pacific Rim Trail and there are a couple of great restuarants close by. (Offshore was my favorite). Overall, our stay was pleasant, but our fireplace did not work either night and it would have bee lovely to enjoy it w/ a glass of wine in the cool evenings. had a lovely room with a wonderful view of Uculet Bay. Hot tub on patio...fireplace...all worked well. Only thing I could say is that the hot tub could have been hotter but we ran out of hot water. However our son had a bath prior to filling it, so that may have had an impact. Great hotel, nice staff.

While your desk staff was competent and courteous, you have trained them to explain your "rules" in much too much detail...ad infinitum! Our joke was that we thought we'd never make it beyond the desk. Since the two people on staff behaved exactly the same, it must be policy; a very annoying one. We also did not understand the need to charge an additional […] $200.00 which went on my credit card. While it was quickly refunded on check out, I will be further annoyed if I have to pay interest on it. As you already had a cr. card swipe, it seemed superfluous. You are the only accommodation to do that over several years of travel. Now, the good stuff...Staff was helpful and courteous and the unit was comfortable, private , comfortable, well designed and oh so very clean with many extras which we appreciated. Though we used only a few dishes which we washed by hand, there was a dishwasher! I cannot say enough good things about Water's edge resort. Room was great with a kitchen, balcony and private hot tub! Free laundry, Free use of Kayaks. Great location where we watched Bald Eagles fly over the water right outside our window. Low key Ucluelet was pleasant and close to hikes, beach and tide pooling. I would go back in a MINUTE.

We thought we had rented a room, but we had rented a rustically furnished apartment. The location was a little difficult for our GPS to find, as the laneway was changed. Once we found it, we also found peace and serenity in the spiritually comforting surroundings. The view was breath-taking and we didn't really want to leave. We are already making plans […] to return to the Island and the Waters Edge Resort. Sitting on the couch, in front of the fireplace, looking out the windows toward the bay, drinking my morning coffee was rejuvinating beyond words. Check-out time was 11:00; I got off that couch at 11:00 - only because we had to leave. The kitchen was nicer and better equipped than the house we were renting in Surrey. The closet off the bedroom, held 2 cozy terry bathrobes; another unexpected surprise. If they had supplied slippers, they'd have thought of everything. I don't have a digital oven here, in our condo; we had 1 in our rental suite. The simple decorations in the suite served to remind us that simple and natural are under-rated. They decorated using chunky, natural wood and the result was spectacular. We were so impressed that we took photos of the furniture in the rental suite. The Waters Edge is surrounded by nature, on the Island. While carrying in our luggage, we heard grunting noises in the nearby woods. Returning to our truck for a forgotten suitcase, parked right outside our doorway, we saw a lynx. The greenery outside our front windows was awe-inspiring and very grounding. If being surrounded by that much nature didn't inspire you to appreciate nature, nothing would. I am anxiously waiting to hear that it's time to return to The Waters Edge, almost with baited breath. We were very impressed with our stay. Hotel location was great, the suite was very roomy (3 adults stayed) and very clean. The suite included kitchen utensils and cleaning supplies so we could either cook in or eat out. The 2 person tub on the deck with the ocean view was especially wonderful. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Wonderful room. Would stay again. The room was a spacious suite with a great kitchen. Jet bath on the balcony overlooking pretty harbour views was a sweet surprise.
