Overwhelmingly good experience in virtually every regard. I was surprised to be charged for a morning newspaper, which is usually gratis in hotels, but this was the only flyspeck on the extremely friendly, comfortable, quiet, and pretty impeccable service and room.

I had read the reviews and saw all 5 stars from the prior reviewers. I would definitely agree! We requested to not be near the elevator when we checked in. They upgraded us to the Gold Coast Suite!

The hotel staff was very friendly, helpful & courteous. If the room was lacking something, the staff was willing to provide it or get it for you. The location is fantastic -- close to great restaurants & only a couple blocks from Michigan Avenue in the Gold Coast.

This was my first stay, but I liked it more than the Ritz Carlton and the W Hotel. The rooms are beautiful, very large and well laid out, super clean, with big bathrooms. Stayed at the Elysian for a special anniversary weekend. It was everything billed and more. The only property that I would compare it to is the Four Seasons. The room was spacious, well appointed, and immaculate. The location was ideal and close to other Chicago Gold Coast hot spots, the Magnificent Mile, Lincoln Park and others. The service was simply […] outstanding. The concierge was helpful and well informed. They arranged flowers, confirmed reservations, and made useful suggestions. Significantly, it is a "no tip" hotel, and they hold to that standard. On more than one occasion, tips were refused before we learned of the status. Remember, it's not cheap. Was here for business but will definitely be bringing my husband back here for a fun weekend next time we are in Chicago. My travel schedule had me there at noon and they even let me check in 3 hours early, no hassle at all. Excellent service.

Stayed at the Elysian hotel for 2 days during the week. Very nice hotel. Overall service great. The only criticism we have is no iron & board in room- had to call. No coffee maker in room either. Had to go to the lobby to get coffee. Room service, frankly was way too expensive for just coffee and tea in the morning. We understand that most of the clientele […] at this hotel would probably not have any issues calling for pressnig service or paying for the coffee or tea thru room service. My wife and I travel to Chicago often. I am originally from there, and love to spend time there each year. We have stayed an multiple hotels, and the Elysian was the best experience we have ever had....ever! Not only in Chicago, but in any city. Staff was incredible! They remembered our names, were overboard willing to help accommodate any requests, […] the house car even brought us to a reservation for dinner that they set for us. The rooms are unbelievably comfortable....and the door bell on the rooms was super nice as were were there with some other friends. Room service food was better than anywhere I have gone. The Spa is unbelievable. Work out room off the hook. Views were great! One other thing was that this past weekend was Lalapaloza. Several of the bands were staying at the Hotel at the same time we were there. They never treated my wife and I, or our party, any differently, with all the commotion. This was impressive to me as my wife and I own a multi-million dollar restaurant business and never felt like our stay, business or experience was any less than their high profile guests. Access to shopping district, fantastic restaurants, and Michigan Ave. was within a block. EVERYONE should stay here at some time. I NEVER write up a review as I am too busy...but I had to this time. Had a wonderful stay for 3 nights. Arrived early and staff took bags and called me on my cell phone when room was ready. It was my wife and I 15 yr anniversary and the women who checked us in left us a personal note in our room with a small treat to enjoy. Hotel is located a few blocks from train station and walking distance to everything. Room was spacious and well-appointed with amenities. The staff left a card at the nightstand with weather forecast for next few days which was a nice personal touch I have never seen before at a hotel I stayed at. We both used gym facilities, equipment was clean and newer, only downfall is not alot of space to lift free weights. Took a free Pilates class and the instructor made the class very personal and tailored to our physical ability. Overall a wonderful stay and highly recommend. Read more

The Elysian Hotel in Chicago has completely set a new standard of convenience, atmosphere, and elegance. Wanted to take my boyfriend to Chicago for his birthday, unfortunately, it was the same week as the Food & Restaurant Show...all hotels booked except for $45 motels or very expensive rooms. Found the Elysian by accident...booked it and we are now in LOVE with it. What service! Worth every penny. We never wanted to leave the room. Plenty of "nice touches" […] from the umbrellas available when it was pouring rain to the Lexus ride to the restaurant or train station. One detrimental aspect was the attitude of the bartender in the dining area, who was impolite and sour, and also the receptionist, who not only let us wait until 3:30pm to check in while outside was raining torrentially, but gave us a room with a view of another building's wall. Receptionists should consult customers' preferences in regards to views of the surrounding areas. We had such a terrible weather and a nice view at least, would have made it perfect!
