"Relaxing and close to the beach"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 1, 2012
Very quiet, at the end of a dead-end road. It almost has it's own private beach, since it's far from the main beach access at Colva. The only complaint is that the staff is a bit distant and not the friendliest. The a/c in the common area was also not working. Overall very relaxing. A ways away from the main town. If you want quiet this is for you.

Casa Severina is located on a tiny side street in Calagunte which is in North Goa. Taxi rides to/from other northern beaches (Anjune, Anven) were Rs ~500. Our room was cute and clean, but the air conditioning would turn off in the middle of the night, waking us up to our own sweat. The front desk was helpful with some things but couldn't manage to point us into the direction of a proper (and open) travel agency to book an overnight train. Luckily by wandering around enough we found one, but it was too late bc the train was full- this led to a minor nightmare. But to make up for eir lack of helpfulness is the bartender Girard(?) who is kind, helpful, and loves to share stories. Next time I go to Goa I wouldn't stay at Calangute Beach, but I would highly recommend Casa Severina as a place to stay for anyone traveling to Calagunte.

Calangute used to be the famous hippie hangout during the 60s and 70s. Calangute Beach, 15 km (nine miles) north of Panaji, is called the “Queen of Beaches” for its unique beauty. Calangute makes an ideal beach site if you want to indulge in watersport activities such as parasailing, waterskiing, and windsurfing. The Kerkar Art Complex and the St. Alex Church are major highlights in this area. At Calangute beach you can spend the day lazing under the sun and enjoy the evenings savoring locally caught and prepared seafood. Several mid-range to value restaurants and cafes offer tasty local and international cuisine. The bars in the vicinity cater to a mixture of tourists and host a wide variety of music.
see all hotels in Alto Porvorim"Rude Manager, great location"
The location of the hotel is great<, 5 min walk to the beach. my husband and i went there for 3 nights and were given 2 double beds, when we requested the manager to move us to a room with a king size bed he was soo rude to us. had the most uncomfortable 3 nights, even the mattress had springs coming out of it!! even when requested a late check out […] they were forcefully charging us late fees at the time of check out. "Ronil beach resort"
The stay was very nice, good rooms and good service inspite of the hotel being fully occupied. Would like to stay there again but would like to suggest that they should introduce Dinner plans also. Also the guests shld be offered a complimentory sight seeing offer if staying more than 2 days etc.
"Good Hotel - Easy access to Baga Beach"
We had a good stay in Ronil. The advantage that this hotel has is that it is 2 minutes walk from Baga and nightlife around the beach. The staff seemed efficient (though the folks at the reception don't particularly make you feel very welcome when you arrive). The breakfast could do with a bit more vareity...nearly same stuff everyday is quite boring. […] The pool and surroundings are clean and well maintained. Would visit again. Read more
"Good option for Baga"
The hotel has a nice pool area and poolside bar and restaurant. Food and drink are very reasonable. The rooms were quite nice. Make sure to ask for a room away from the road, which can be quite noisy due to constant beeping. Location is very good at a short stroll to Baga beach. Also worth visiting Anjuna beach which is a short journey by taxi or boat. […] This beach is a lot quiter so you don't get hassled by the casual vendors who often pester you on Baga beach. Read more
"Ronils at Baga- close happening places in Goa"
The proximity to all the beaches and good hotels is the only positive thing about the hotel. Compared to the rates they charge, the rooms/food or service is not great at all.
