Wonderful and inexpensive in every way. Great views and walk to downtown. Just make sure you can find it if you're driving or walking. Kind of hidden between what looks like two churches. Otherwise PERFECT!

Our experience at the Residence was wonderful and I recommend it without reservation. Jan and the other staff really went out of their way to make us feel at home and answer all our questions. They arranged our taxi to and from the train station. They upgraded our room free of charge as my back was acting up and the stairs to the third floor were hurting […] me. The breakfast was ample and excellent, lots of fresh fruit, yoghurt, rolls, eggs, ham, etc and bottomless expresso. The residence is located inside the Strahov church compound, which is a major tourist attraction as it is quite beautiful. To wander the grounds early in the morning and late at nite when the tourists have left is a magical experience. It is located on the hills above Prague and the views of Prague are spectacular. There are also three excellent restaurants within the compound. One is a brew pub with extremely friendly staff and fantastic beer. Another is a good Italian restaurant with a terrace overlooking the city. It is an approximately 20 minute walk to downtown, all downhill and a great scenic walk. The palace/castle and St. Vitus church, which, of course, are must see, are a 10 minute walk, again, all downhill. You can also take the tram into town and back, and it stops right outside the gates of the church compound. We bought a three day mass transit pass and it was well worth it and got us everywhere we wanted to go. Read more

great location and staff, only downside for family with children is no room service beyond 7 pm. no lift, if you have lots of bags be prepared for a good work out. we were there in july 2012, it was hot, rooms are not well prepared for hot climate. despite all that, i really thought the staff help and courtesy made up for all other issues.

The location could not have been better. Away from the bustle and noise of central Old Town, but within the Strahov Monastery complex and within blocks of the Loreto, Petrin Hill, the Royal Place and St. Vitus Catherdral. Easy access to Tram#22 (less than a block) which ran through the center of Old Prague which allowed for easy access to all of the sights that were not within close walking distance. We usually walked down the hill on our way to Old Town Square and the related sights and back up at the end of the day, but two evenings (after especially long days and miles of walking) it was very nice to have the tram to carry our weary bones up the hill. I booked this hotel for 3 adults and one child and was very happy with the quality of the residence monistary as the staff was very friendly and helpful. It has a great view overlooking Prague and is only a 5 min walk downhill to the St Charles bridge. Breakfast was included and buffet style and it was great. Only complaints I had was that one bed was […] a foldout couch that was not very comfortable but was clean. The place is extremely hard to find as it is in a gated courtyard with no signs outside and my GPS tried to get me there via walking trails. The Residence Monastery belongs to a bigger hotel chain (Ave) which operates several hotels in Prague. When we arrived to the Monastery to check in the receptionist informed us that there has been a problem with our room and that they are moving us to another hotel (Bishop's House) which is right near the Charles Bridge in a much more crowded and touristy […] area. When part of why I picked the Monastery is that it is in a much quieter part of town, I was not happy about the move. Between the taxi confusion and issues checking in to the new hotel, it took over 2 hours before we were in our room. We were able to switch back to the Monastery the next day and I am so glad we did! We absolutely loved the hotel and the area. The day receptionist could not apologize enough for the confusion the night before claiming it was an internal issue and upgraded us for our trouble. The Monastery sits on a hill over looking Prague. It is the best view of the city and the castle. It is in a little courtyard area with several restaurants. There is a great one that is built underground in an old cave used by the monks. The food and ambiance was so cool! For us, the location was great. It is a short walk (10-20) to all the major sites. After a long day of walking, coming back up the hill might be a challenge but there is a tram (22) that stops near by and the taxis are really cheap. Because the hotel is inside a major tourist location (Strahovsky Klaster) there are always signs pointing in its direction and it is very visible since it sits on the hill over looking the town. So we never were lost. We didn't spend much time in the room but the bed was comfortable and there was a good amount of space for bags and stuff. The shower had really good water pressure and was nice and hot. Also, there is a secure courtyard where you can park your car, if you have one. I stayed here for 2 nights with my boyfriend in November 2012. The staff were lovely and very helpful (and spoke excellent English). The hotel is in a lovely location in an old Monastery courtyard, next to some stunning buildings and with great views over Prague. It was also very quiet. The castle was only 10mins walk downhill, and Charles Bridge 20-30mins […] walk. The hotel is best for those who are mobile and able-bodied: there are lots of stairs and low ceilings, our bedroom was on two levels (bed on a mezzanine under the rafters) and it's at the top of a quite steep and cobbled hill. The room was very unusual shape becuase it was originally a monastery. This gave the room character. The room was very well equiped, with good supples of tea, coffee etc. We travelled as a family, of 3 adults sharing, which was great. Hotel staff explained everything you needed to know, kept our luggage as we left late in the day, so we could enjoy the last day as well. There was a computer which you could use if you wanted. I loved this place - its off tourist path, in a no car area, overlooking green hills. The monastery is exceptional, large and comfortable rooms, great service, a small garden for chilling out ... all perfect. The only difficulty is finding the place as it is not signposted and so NOT obvious where it is. Google maps also not much help as in reality […] looks much different than a flat map plan. Also, make sure you actually get there by cab or public transport otherwise a long and steep track up the hill. As I said, signposting would help. But once you get there you will not be disappointed. There is no doubt that this hotel is in a unique setting. Our first impression was good, cobbled stoned square leading to the hotel, adjacent church, good brewery/restaurant within walking distance. However, the charm wore off when we realised the ground floor room had no views, as the windows were high up the wall and could only be opened by climbing […] a stepladder left in the room. As the hotel had no air conditioning, we had to do this regularly. The receptionists were friendly and welcoming, but reception was unmanned from at 7pm and through the night, providing us with a phone number for queries etc. Things were made worse by a gurgling fridge and regular plumbing noises from the guests' bathroom activities above us. The Residence Monastery hotel is situated on a hill overlooking the old town of Prague. It is about a 10 minute walk away from the tourist masses of the Charles Bridge and the old town, but barely 5 min from the castle. We rented two rooms; both rooms had two levels with the bedroom upstairs accessible only by a pretty steep iron staircase. Not recommend for anyone who is not sure-footed. The bathroom and (in one case a generously spaced) living area are on the lower level. The other room had only a tiny downstairs room. The furniture is modern, but a bit worn. Definitely not enough wardrobe space, and one of the rooms did not have enough light to read at night. Very good breakfast selection and a beautiful terasse. Very nice front desk staff. Das Hotel befindet sich direkt im Kloster und ist nur 5 Minuten zu Fuß von der Prager Burg entfernt. Auch die Altstadt ist innerhalb von etwa 15 Minuten gut erreichbar--es gibt aber auch eine Straßenbahn. Die Umgebung wirkt nachts sehr ruhig. Im Hotel selbst sind viele schmale Treppen--sogar in unserem Zimmer war der Schlafbereich auf einer zweiten […] Ebene. Für uns kein Problem, aber für für Gäste, die nicht mehr so gut zu Fuß sind, wahrscheinlich nicht ganz geeignet, auch wenn es anscheinend mind. ein Zimmer im Erdgeschoss zu geben scheint. We hebben ons verblijf in Residence Monastery ervaren als fantastisch. De kamer was ruim, origineel qua indeling (twee verdiepingen), voorzien van alle gemakken en heel erg schoon. Lekkere bedden en heerlijk rustig 's nachts, afgezien van de kerkklok die ieder uur slaat. We hadden vanuit ons raam een super uitzicht op de kerk van het kloostercomplex […] en vooral over de stad Praag. De locatie van het hotel was geweldig. Naast het hotel enkele restaurants met terras. Er is een tramhalte vlakbij het hotel, maar wij hebben alles gelopen: op 5 minuten loopafstand van de Praagse burcht en de wijk Kleine Zijde met de mooie straatjes, paleizen en tuinen. Binnen 10 minuten ben je bij de Karelsbrug en het oude centrum. Maar ook op korte afstand van de Petrinheuvel, waar je heerlijk kan wandelen en een mooi uitzicht over de stad hebt. Sehr gutes kleines Hotel direkt über der Prager Burg (5 Minuten Fussweg). Das Personal des Hotels war immer freundlich und erfüllte auch kleine Sonderwünsche. Mit einem Kleinkind fühlten wir sehr gut aufgehoben. Das Zimmer bot eine fantastische Aussicht über Prag (Burg und Karlsbrücke). Das einfache Frühstück war immer frisch und lecker.

今回は一人で観光のため宿泊しました。スタンダードルームです。部屋からは、プラハの町が一望できました！！場所は、プラハ城の隣または敷地内と行っていいほど近いです。近くにはプラハ城観光客向けのレストランが、３件。夜１０時くらいまで開いていました。３件とも梯子しました。その中の一つのレストランは、お値段も倍以上でしたが、かなり美味しかったです。 バスタブあり。バスルームが床暖房？なのか、とても暖かかった。アメニティ類は全くありません。毎日お湯を張りましたが、お湯の出は問題なし。排水も問題なし。お部屋の暖房快適（口コミでは寒かったと書いてあったのですが、全く問題なくむしろ暑いくらいでした。）ポットあり。コーヒー、紅茶、フルーツティー、緑茶のティーパック（緑茶はへんな海外の味）などたくさんの種類。イン […] ターネットは無料で接続できました。 歩いて１〜２分でトラムの駅がある。ここの駅では切符購入可。 朝食は普通な感じ。プラハ城がオフシーズンのためか、かなりリーズナブルなお値段でこのスペックのお部屋に泊まる事が出来かなり満足です。 次回は春か夏にこちらのホテルに泊まりたいと思います！！ 空港からの送迎をホテルにお願いしました。委託のタクシーで片道１９ユーロです。２４時間利用可能みたいです。帰りの便が早朝でしたので、とても助かりました。 Read more

Værelserne og møbler trænger til en kærlig hånd. Dårlig indelukket lugt på badeværelset. Mug i loft ved bruser. Dør til toilet begyndt at ruste i bunden. Vores to teenagers kede sig på selve hotellet. Vores udsigt fra vores værelse var blokeret af store træer, vi måtte i haven for udsigten men her var den også enestående.

Klart över förväntan. Läget var gudomligt med underbar utsikt över stan. Med spårvagn tog man sig enkelt fram om man inte ville spatsera på de branta gatorna till hotellet.
