when we started our journey to Rome from the train station we were warned about pick pockets, nobody said anything about being scamed by Cabbies! We were scammed. Warning watch out for the cab drivers. First the cab driver had trouble locating our place, once he did we were at the very least shocked at its location. The elevator is only a one or two […] person capacity so we had to bring up our luggage in 3 different runs. The rooms were clean but small and I guess in Romes standards these would be luxury as it is avertised. The TV's didn't work there was no space to put your toiletries in the bathroom, as well as space to put all your clothes. I guess if it is a one night stay it would not matter. My husband and I took an 8 day "second honeymoon" trip to Rome. We LOVED this hotel. I'm not sure what the people who left bad review's were looking for. We wanted a clean, nice, friendly staffed hotel. We didn't want a pent house suite to stay in the entire time, we wanted to be out in the city. The room wasn't smaller than others I have stayed in, […] in the US. The bed was firm and felt so good. The bathroom was, big and everything worked fine. We had a small balcony and was able to leave the door cracked at night for a wonderful cool breeze. The staff was helpful and nice, even with the language barrier, which wasn't that bad. We had breakfast delivered every morning, and on the days we had tours and had to leave before the first available time they deliver they left a basket the night before for us to have for the morning. The elevator is very small, but who cares it worked and we didn't have time to bother with that. The staff is only there from 8-8, but we didn't have any problems as they left keys for every door we may encounter, and phone numbers incase we had any problems, which we didn't. Knowing what I know now, I probably would not have stayed near the vatican. I would have tried to stay more towards the middle of the city (near the Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, etc). MDM Luxury Rooms is a "residence", meaning it's more like a B&B than a standard hotel in terms of service. The furniture in the room was beaten up, and the room was very small. The bathroom was pretty and had a bidet and jets in the tub but had no room to put things. We found the size of the room and the lack of a place to put things in the room in […] general a real inconvenience. The bed was okay, and the room was quiet. Breakfast was juice, coffee/tea, and bread/croissant and/or corn flakes, with a liquid yogurt option. There are nearby shops where you can buy fruit very reasonably. Breakfast was delivered to our room at least 20 minutes late each of the days we were there. The receptionist/concierge is very sweet and generally enlisted someone to follow up when she was unable to do so herself. You have to take a very small elevator up to the second floor - third floor in US terms - so plan on an extra trip if you have more than a little luggage. The location is very close to the Vatican, and there are shops and restaurants in the area - the best thing about the place. Read more

It was my husband and I first time to Italy and we checked many hotels online comparing one to the next. I have to say the photos are just as the hotel is. It is in a great location maybe a 5 min walk to Vatican City. The metro is about 2 mins away (great way to get around) and the neighborhood itself is clean and I walked around even at night alone […] and felt safe. We arrived into Italy at noon and we were greeted and shown to our room. The MDM is located on the second floor of a building. You recieve a key to get in the main door down stairs and another key to get into the second floor where the rooms are located. Yes the rooms are alittle tight for "American" standards however they have high ceilings large windows and honestly we didnt come to Rome to sit in our room. Breakfast is delivered every morning at the time you request. I would absolutely stay here again in a heart beat. Very clean and comfortable at a great price. Only thing I will not recommed is the car service from airport. We paid in advance, and when we arrived to the airport we had to search for rep. only to be talked to rudely and told to sit on the bench we werent leaving for an hr. I asked if we could use the voucher for the ride back to airport instead but was told I had call expedia. Good location, price for that location and 3 star rating was OK. Bed, as many in this class in Europe was hard, but I always bring a 2 X 3 ft thick memory type cushion for the hip/back area, so it was OK. My wife and I really enjoyed the MDM Luxury Rooms Guest House during our recent visit and 2-night stay there in mid-September 2010. On check-in, Claudia was very friendly and helpful. The bathroom was very clean. There's free WiFi in the hotel, although the signal strength is better in the small lobby area than in room 24 where we stayed. The breakfast is tasty and delivered exactly when you request it. The location -- just a 4 or 5 minute walk from the Vatican is wonderful. The only downside was that the elevator was not working during our visit, which meant we had to trudge up the 2 flights of marble stairs each time we returned. But the 2 gentlemen who tidy up the rooms will be happy to help carry your bags if you need help. The Isola d'Pizza restaurant is at the end of the same block as the MDM Luxury rooms, and is a very good meal at a fair price. Check it out. We absolutely would stay here again. If you're looking for a simple room with breakfast, clean and friendly, and close to the Vatican, you'll have a hard time doing better than the MDM. Read more

North of Ottaviano station a few hundred yards is a mini market which sells milk and soft drinks. A little further is a patisserie which sells great croissants etc.. A fantastic Indian cafe in Corso Vittorio Emanuele. Try and visit the Pantheon and Fonte Acqua Paola. This is a great city and MDM Luxury Rooms will help you to enjoy your time whilst you are there.
