"Great hotel with real resort feeling"
This was my first stay at Fridays, although i have been to Boracay several times. I could not have been happier with the choice. Accommodations are mostly in 2-3 room 2-story structures -- designed to look native construction (lots of wood details and decks, thatch roof, etc.), but are fully modern rooms. The rooms are a little spartan compared, say, […] to ShangriLa, but they have all the amenities of a 5-star hotel (mini bar, quality linens, good beds, etc.), and they are well maintained and spotless clean. Nice mix of hotel guests -- a lot of couples from there 30s to their 60s, as well as a number of families on holiday -- and i got the feeling that a number were regular repeat visitors. And this hotel has a real "resort" feel to it -- they have a number of activities, meals, and events sponsored for the hotel guests. Solid kitchen and a nice comfortable bar. And as noted in other reviews, the staff is really good. It is 5-7 minutes by trike and a nice 20 minute beachwalk by foot to "downtown" boracay (D'Mall, and Station 2) from Fridays -- which I appreciated but might not work for those looking to be in the heart of the bars and restaurants. It directly faces the excellent White Beach, w/ great swimming. Finally, they have excellent shuttle service to/from Catlican Airport which, except for tips, seems to be included in the rates. The only downside was the construction next door -- pretty steady racket during during the day. Not sure how long it will go on. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"One of the best in Boracay"
Boracay is just breathtaking. Having a resort that compliments the entire vacation is the icing on the cake. The strength of Friday's is their optimal location at the best strip of sand and surf in the entire island. They have a wonderful staff, comfortable rooms, and one of the best restaurants on the island. It's easy to get spoiled. My only complaint […] is that the bed could be a tad softer, and the pillows a little bit fluffier. These are minor, in that you are guaranteed a very relaxing time regardless if you are in your room or lounging in the beach. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

We have a great time in Friday's Boracay. They keep very clean and tidy the part of the beach in front of the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
checking in was smooth ,rooms were spacious and always clean, breakfast wasn't the greatest, happy hour was always good value, dinner/culture night was overpriced, resort meals were ok except we had a hamburger for lunch and the pat tie was half cooked not good for high end accomodation, room tarrif was a little over priced but for us the quitter location […] was the key and it has a nice clean beach out the front of the resort. "Great service and beautiful beach"
The staff are all very helpful and friendly. The beach in front of resort is always kept clean unlike the beach at station 2 area where seaweed and trash can been seen on the beach. Breakfast is great too, I enjoyed the various breakfasts sets (American, Japanese, Filipino, Korean etc). However, the room needs some refurnishment, it looks tired and […] outdated. Sometimes, ants and mosquitoes can be seen in the room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fabulous stay and amazing staff"
We spent 5 outstanding nights at Friday's and loved every minute of it. Amazing location. Ambience was superb for a very relaxing stay. The style and setting of the accommodation reflected the island of Boracay and pleased not to be in a "cool chic building" which probably better suited to urban locations. Excellent food and all prices reasonable for […] hotel of this quality. Spa treatments also excellent. Hope we can return soon but next time for longer Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Honeymoon Escape"
We loved our stay at FRIDAYS in Boracay! We were transferring from one hotel to the next and FRIDAYS offered to pick us up in their shuttle for free. Once we arrived, we were given shell leis and fruity drinks! Our bags were handled by someone as soon as we got there and we were lead down to the lobby to check in. They lead us to the beach front area […] where we were given beach towels to use while we waited for our room to be ready. BTW, the walk to the lobby involves some stairs but it wasn't a bad walk. I just wouldn't recommend it to someone with knee issues or older folks. My husband and I were on our honeymoon while we were there. Every day, someone came in to clean up our room and the housekeeper would leave cute messages for us written on a leaf and leave us chocolates in the fridge! The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The only downside, but doesn't deserve for the hotel to lose a star, was the construction happening next door. They didn't start until at least around 8AM though, the hammering noise was just a little annoying. Other than that, they had AMAZING service, their restaurant and AMAZING food [breakfast was also included in our package], and the place was very clean and beach front! It was absolute paradise! Their staff was so good to us, that they even served us dinner, even though they were getting ready to close! I could not have asked for better service or a better hotel. Thanks FRIDAYS! We'll be back for sure!

"Usually would have been perfect - would love to go back again"
03/12/14 Kristina H Vienna, Austria
Perfect location on the beach, the Fridays has the best beach in Boracay. More quite and less crowded than the other hotels on the island. The suites are perfect, nevertheless there is no view on the beach out of the rooms, only from the terrace or balcony. The service is perfect, super friendly and helpful staff. It´s a little paradise they have there. Unfortunately there is a construction site next to the hotel (they build another hotel next to Fridays), so there is quite a lot of noise. Especially during the day while lying on the beach it got quite uncomfortable. However, the hotel management and staff tried their best to make our stay as comfortable as possible and we were compensated for this. Also the Fridays has some land dispute, so the hotel is at this moment divided in the middle by a big fence (but no construction was going on neither is it planned as we got told). The pool and half of the numbers of rooms were not usable due to this. The hotel management told us, they will solve the problem by the end of march 2014 (???). But in fact this was not really disturbing us, we are not that much pool lovers. We booked a premier room and were upgraded because of the dispute, so we were lucky. But in total we would love to go back to Fridays on our next stay. Highly recommended, when there is no construction site next to the hotel and the issue of the landowners is settled.

We stayed 5 nights at Fridays, despite the location is great as in a less crowdy part, We were very disapointed at our arrival, construction just behind the hotel with some issue between both parties, which means pool could not be used, water of the pool was green & dirty, construction metallic pannel around the hotel, some area of the hotel was closed, construction nose starting early in the morning... this is the only place in Boracay where there were a lot of Mostiquoes and flyes... Room are ok, food are ok but nothing really special, no view on the see. We booked 2 rooms and we had to pay a lot of extra charges for the kids , so compare to other hotels in Boracay, it is not worth it... SPA is next to the restaurant so no privacy and noisy...

Before making reservation i send several emails regarding the room type and i was attended to Jovy Caldejon. I was asking for more information about the room type they have in their property, since i saw there are lots of different room type with no clear information in their website as well as other online website. i have 2 room types in mind, which is superior beach front view and premier beach front view. i then asked jovy to booked one premier room first and then i saw a photo of room and fell in love straight away with that room type but i wasn't sure which room type is that. After sending the room's photo to jovy i was told that the room that i fell in love with is a superior room. i then changed my booking from premier to superior, i told her that i wanted the room as per the photo i sent to her. she then send me a link for payment everything and my reservation for superior is confirmed on 14 January 2014. i asked for early check in too. a few days before my arrival i request for birthday cake or if they have birthday celebration package for my friend and i asked how much for the package (my friend book another room by online travel agent). i was told that they can provide complimentary birthday cake and i told her to confirm my request. I was looking forward for my trip and since i saw most of the review are good, the more i cant wait for my trip. on the day of my arrival i was surprised when the receptionist lady told me that my superior room is not available and i was upgraded to a premier room. i was told that the room i have booked is not available due to management and landlord dispute and they were overbooked. i told them that i wanted the room i have booked, the receptionist lady then told me " we are sorry but we upgraded you for FREE". i was so angry and annoyed because i heard the words of "FREE" its not about the money, i feel offended because of that word! i worked in the hotel before and now i know how that simple word can hurt someone. i feel that as a hoteliers they should let me know in advance if they have dispute going on in their hotel and made me aware with the situation, also im not happy with the choice of word they used. YOU ARE NOT SORRY AND YOU DONT KNOW HOW IT FEELS ! when you have booked something you really want and you expect that you will get that particular room BUT YOU DID NOT GET IT. i was annoyed and angry but i cant do anything. they dont have the room i wanted and will not give me that room, fine i leave it as i send email to Jovy to express my disappointment. after 2days sending that email i did not get any reply! i think they did not care about guest concern. im thankful that they upgraded my friend to a suite room but they did not prepare the birthday cake that i requested. i asked for the cake and the receptionist lady told me that they did not prepare the cake cause they need my arrival time. another disappointment! because i expect they will prepare the cake in the room. i have told them that i will have early check in and indicated my arrival time, even if i didnt they should send me an email and ask me. i do not want any complimentary meal or whatever it is, i dont need your upgrade, i just want you to acknowledge my concern and at least indicate what is happening with your hotel in your webiste and any other website. i want other guest to be made aware of about the situation. at first i wanted to see their reply regarding my concern but i received nothing, so i decided to write this review. if i were asked how was my stay at your place, i would say so so, and i would not recommend anybody to stay at friday,

We stayed at Friday’s for 6 nights. (16-22 February). In my opinion, Fridays is definitely located in the best part of the beach. It is more quite and less crowded than the other parts of the island. It is perfect for couples. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a premium room and it was definitely worth it. The room is just a few steps from the beach. The room is quite big and the bed is comfortable. The air condition works very well. There is a safe in the room. Wi-Fi also works very well in the resort. Breakfast was included in our room rate. There is a variety of selections. Fresh fruit juices and coffee/tea are also offered for the breakfast. The breakfast is fine; however I can’t say the same things about lunch and dinner. The food is below average. Even though there is an Italian chef, they serve frozen pizza. It makes no sense at all. My husband stayed at Friday’s six years ago. He says that the food used to be perfect back then. He was also very disappointed with the food. Friday's is currently facing a landlord/rent dispute. Police and security guards were at the beach throughout the day and night. We did not face any problems but it was a little bit disturbing to see the planks that were fenced off over half of the resort.

This one star review should be prefaced by saying that there were no issues at all with the cleanliness, service, location, or food at Fridays - all of which were good or better. We stayed at Friday's for a 3 night break starting 21st February. On arrival, a number of men were standing in the pool next to our bungalow erecting a tarpaulin stating "Private Property - No Trespassing". Over half of the resort was fenced off with planks and corrugated iron and patrolled by security guards. Pictures are attached. No mention of this was made at check-in, nor were are enquiries met with anything other than embarrassed shrugs by the staff. We were able to discover in town that evening that Friday's is currently facing a landlord/rent dispute and a court order for repossession has been issued. Some reviews below allude to this. When we returned to the resort in the evenings we were aggressively challenged by a number of security guards demanding to know our room number. Police were in evidence at the beach throughout the entire day. Given that (i) our bungalow was truly excellent (despite being right next to the Philippine equivalent of the 38th parallel), (ii) it was a short break, and (iii) we had prepaid in full - we elected to stick it out. I can't say it was a bad mini-break because it wasn't - Boracay is truly wonderful - but I shudder to think how anyone arriving from a long journey from Europe for an extended holiday/honeymoon is going to feel. Not good. When checking out, we were not offered any kind of explanation or apology other than 'this is a surprise to us as well'. We left an email address to allow for further correspondence from the manager. Three days later we were sent appeal documents recently submitted to the court. To add insult to injury, the documents allege that Fridays has been forced to reduce its room rates by 35%. *We* were charged in full, of course - 300 USD per night!!! My partner had been to Friday's numerous times over the last 14 years. It was my first visit so I am not hamstrung by sentiment. Unless you have a real hankering to experience East Berlin, SE Asia-style, I recommend avoiding this place like the plague. Score breakdown as follows: (1) Cleanliness, service, food, lacation (90%); less (2) Condition of property (-40%) (3) Lack of explanation/apology (-20%) (4) Rubbing salt into the wound by sending official documents that deep discounts were being offered (-20%). Overall score - 10%. One star.
"Boracay = Fridays!"

Firstly, a few things about the White Beach, Boracay. It's like Chaweng Beach in Koh Samui, Thailand, and even better. You're avoiding the noice of the horns of taxis and tuck-tucks and commercial activities that take place on the main road. As for the hotel, it is definitely in the best part of the beach (Boat Station 1). It's among the top hotels in Boracay taking into account how old it is. Other hotels of similar quality are much newer. Hower, this fact does not make Fridays any worse. The staff are very friendly, professional and helpful. They are always ready to please you. The buffet nights three days a week offer the best food we had eaten on Boracay. We stayed for two weeks in a premium room, which was good value for money. Just a few steps from the beach. The hotel had offered us a free airpot transfer, which was extremely helpful as coming from and going to the Caticlan airport is slightly complicated. True, there is some noice coming from the construction site, as a hotel is being built next to Fridays. Definitely, we would love to come back to Fridays, especially when the construction is over.
"Hostile take over/abuse of power by land owner/mayor of the region upsets tranquil eco-hotel Friday's!"

My husband and I stayed in Fridays in the early 90's. There were not any cement buildings in the area then just open air bamboo type hotel like Fridays. It was and still is a magical place.the employees are very friendly and do what ever it takes to make your stay a pleasant one. They watch your valuables on the chairs while we frolic in the water. They straighten and arrange our towels and clothes on our chairs. They turn down our beds each night. Fridays has not changed but the greedy local land owners have barricaded some of the resort because of a dispute with the hotel on rent. Which is illegal. So the hotel is fighting it out in court. So the hotel offers clients to stay elsewhere until matters get resolved. Yes Fridays has seen some better days. It is a throw back to the natural made resorts that made you feel you were happily shipwrecked on a beautiful tropical island. Our suite has a jacuzzi tube with a beautiful bathroom with a large and spacious bed room. We get a daily message in our bottle of our room of the daily activities. Yes some the area of the resort could use a bit of an up keep. however, there are not many of the eco-lodges left on this island. The local government has allowed too many cement buildings/hotels crammed amongst each other along the beach. It has turned into a a town like Kuta in Bali or South Beach in Miami. Lots of restaurants and bars line the beach. It is sad to see the change that 20 years has done. Most of the sand is gone. So when there is high tide people are limited where they can walk. It is too bad to see that the local government has not limited the development and kept it more of an eco-tourist place. The land owner has allowed an ugly cement, monstrosity of a hotel to be built right next door to Friday's, blocking the view of a third of the rooms. The local mayor/land owner is horrible and greedy man who thinks they can bully a publicly traded hotel chain like Friday's. I wish them the very best in their fight against local corrupt officials who call themselves public officials.

Located at e top most of white beach. Its less crowded and quieter side of white beach. Perfect beach setting for couples. The room is spacious and the bed is comfortable. You have to expect the room gets a little sandy though all because you are at the beach. Other than that. Fridays is located well for couples to wants a good beachfront location, comfort and privacy.
"Nice hotel, perfect beach"
02/15/14 GlobetrotterBella San Antonio
I could not have asked for better. This resort is located on station 1 with the ocean right outside your doorstep. The beach was beautiful and spacious. Noise was minimal. Yes, the resort is not perfect, but no resort is ever perfect. This is a great place to relax and soak up the sun. Transfers: we paid for transfer from Kalibo. Round trip transfer arranged by the hotel was about $40 round trip for two. This transfer takes about two hours, depending on traffic. Be aware that you will be on a crowded bus for about 90% of the transfer. Caution: on the transfer back it was dark and we were told we were going to be walking knee deep in water once getting off the boat. Men were waiting to carry us off the boat and did a lot of haggling to get each one of them a tip. We weren't expecting this and had ran out of small bills. They didn't stop following us until we came up with more money. Rooms: we were In deluxe room 19. One queen bed and one single. The queen bed has mosquito netting that comes in handy. The beds are very firm. There is a safe, but it's not mounted into the wall. There is a mini fridge. The AC works well. We did have a problem the first night where the AC did not work, but the staff took care of that the next day. The hot water in the shower ran out pretty quickly on our first two days, but once we informed staff, that was fixed as well. They do not provide an iron. They will press your clothing for a fee. Housekeeping will come twice daily for cleaning and then turn down service. The room always smells like flowers! The biggest problem was that you really don't have anywhere to store your clothing. The closet in the bathroom only had a few hangers and looked dingy. Restaurant: Breakfast was included in our room rate. They offer a set breakfast menu with different options to include a Korean, Japanese, Filipino, American, fit and trim, and continental option. We tried all of them and they all had a variety of items. They offer fresh fruit juices with breakfast that are a must. Lunch and dinner items are good, but not excellent. You have a variety of options from pizzas to pasta to salads. Happy hour is the best. From 3-6 you can get 2 for 1 cocktails. The Friday night buffet is an event you must enjoy while you are there. Extras and tips: - Internet is spotty in the rooms. Best place for fast internet is by the bar and beach. - Excursions are cheaper if you go out the beach and ask any of the men walking around. You can always negotiate better prices and the initial price is usually half of what the hotel charges. - go to Jonah's and get a fruit shake. (Located by Willy's rock) - the easiest way to ATM is to walk to station 2 on the beach and once you see the Astoria hotel, walk behind it and take a right. The exchange rates at the hotel are not good. You can find better exchange rates by D'Mall. - you will need a lot of tip money. Denominations of 50, 100 and 200 pesos will do Now go and enjoy what Boracay has to offer!!

We just left resort and had a wonderful time. However people should be aware when we woke up today there were 15 police and an equal number of security guards on the beach. The only explanation that we were given was that they were having a "conversation". Apparently there is some type of land despute. I should note that we never felt threatened in any way. Now with the good things. The staff are an absolute treasure. The best that I ever encountered at a resort. Virtually every single 1 was polite and helpful. The food was good not amazing and the rooms were a little run down but being on the white sands beach was great and you just can't beat it. It was a little annoying that upon checkout they insisted on charging us for bottles of water not used. Considering that we woke up to armed guards, police and half the beach blocked off, you would have thought they would have done some complimentary things for the guests. Overall it was a very positive experience and I would definitely go back to Boracay but might consider a different hotel.
