see all hotels in San Francisco"Spring Break in SF at the Motel Capri"
The Motel Capri is what every review said. Basic. It's very cute, old school motel on the outside with a retro blue green color and red tiles. Parking is a huge plus! There are several parking spots and parking was free. Some hotels I looked up charge up to 35 dollars a day for the priviledge of having such coveted space in a cramped city. It was great […] for me because I drove to SF and left my car there all week out in the open and it was totally fine. There is even some covered parking if you feel that is more secure. The staff was curt. Not very polite but not rude at all. Just okay. Maybe it's because they don't speak great english? I checked in at night and no one was at the front desk. I think I rang a bell and a guy came out from watching tv in the back room. I stayed in a room with the King size bed. The bed was great! Comfortable and big and clean. I didn't have any bed bug problems that several other hotel reviews said. The room itself was small, with the bed, small table two chairs, tv, closet and tiny bathroom. There wasn't a fridge and microwave in my room. I don't know if you have to pay extra or ask in advance or something. I was kinda expecting a fridge and microwave but did fine for a week without it. A little disappointed because the pictures of the king size room showed them in the room. Oh well. The bathrooms need updating. It's just a toilet, pedestal sink and a shower. Granted there isn't room for a bathrub but how are women supposed to put their bathroom supplies anywhere with hardly and counter space? I had a hard time straightening my hair but it's not a deal breaker. They were renovating a room down the hall from us while we were there so maybe they are getting some renovations done. They also put up some metal wall art which sounds nice but I got my hair caught on it when I stood too close to the wall. The location of the hotel was great though. A little to the west of all the crowded tourist streets but not too far from the sites. I took th Read more
"Motel Capri is quiet & clean"
Large room. Large, clean, nicely tiled bathroom. Large flatscreen TV. Comfortable bed. Very quiet. A smart place to stay if you are annoyed by Union Square & downtown noise at night / early AM. Close to multiple bus lines. Short hop to most important sites. Remember your bus transfer and the day is cheap. Marina district nearby! Great food nearby. Short […] walk to the bay. Friendly staff. They should, however, grow up and be able to break a $5 for bus change like a normal motel. Read more
"Needs renovation and very LOUD"
I had to stay someplace for a week while I started a new job. The location was great, and the price was competitive for the area. My room had a large hole in the carpet, right in the center of the room, and both occasional chairs had rips where the stuffing was spilling out. The bed itself was OK, and the bathroom was clean, but the set-up and fixtures […] are all antiquated and need improvements. I didn't mind the shower, but I'm only 5'2- and it suited me fine, but I think anyone 5'4 or taller would need to bend or squat just to be beneath the nozzle. Then, from around 10p-1am each night I could hear everyone on the streets, as well as other patrons of the hotel-- you can hear the rooms above and below; from conversations to every time a toilet would flush. Additionally, each morning, there were kids running up and down the halls, skateboards and the like. It felt like I was staying at a youth hostel; not a motel. I needed to book a 2nd week for work and opted for someplace else. It's just too old and needs too many renovations to be considered a "deal" on any level. Read more
"Great Location, Reasonable Price"
The rate was good due to the location. It's an old motel with eclectic, partial updating. Some of the accommodations in the room we stayed in were new(ish) and appeared to be well maintained (like the bathroom tile and TV), but other things look like they haven't been replaced or maintained since the place originally opened (carpets - deplorable -, […] shower, and drapes). The wall behind the TV looks like no attempt has been made to cover over the previous holes from previous TV mounting efforts. Also, there was a picture frame hanging on the wall with no picture in it. If this is some kind of avant-garde, artsy thing, I don't get it. The beds were quite comfortable - a major accomplishment for us as my wife's back does not usually take well to foreign beds - and the room was quiet, especially considering it was on a corner and next to the elevator. Didn't get to stay here. They said they accepted the booking thinking their renovations would be completed. Instead they sent me around to their other place Presidio Inn which was an absolute hole and I only stayed in the room for 1 minute before the stench and flies drove me out. Stayed at alternate hotel. Under no circumstances get diverted from Capri […] to their other hotel, the Presidio Inn. Read more
"Great place to stay"
Close to the Wharf and Lombard St. We had a car and never had a problem parking. The neighborhood is good (I wondered if it was a bit sketchy at first, but you quickly realize that everyone that lives in the area is a yuppy). Hotel is old and the carpet was kinda gross, but everything worked, there was a big HDTV with tons of channels, and the room […] was cheap and in a convenient place. Read more
"Website pictures are deceiving..."
Looked at the pictures of the rooms on the website they look nice they look clean and comfortable. They didn't look bad at all and the reviews didn't sound to bad and the price was good. So I book it. Little did I know the pictures on the web page are lies except for the bathrooms what you see in the pictures is what you get. Green old bathroom with […] a molding shower. The room wasn't anything like the pictures, furniture in the room was extremely dirty, writing on the walls look like someone was walking on the ceiling, mold on the ceiling right by the window. Bed was nice some stains on the pillow the backboard of the bed was borken it wasn't even mounted to the bed. Next time I'll pay a little more and book somewhere else. Read more

"Dated"
This hotel was clean but dated, if you're looking for a swanky hotel this is not your place. Neighborhood was quiet. Close to bars, restaurants and liquor stores.

"capri good location mediocre motel"
excellent location near marina close to union st. free parking with internet.Tired rooms.minor annoying damage.holes in carpet, broken bath fixtures etc.
"Clean room, excellent location & safe area."
The Plus is the location is excellent! 2 blocks from union shops and 1/2 mile from Pier 39 fishermans wharf but not walking distance pretty long blocks. You can catch the 47 transit line that drops you off by the pier but must walk about 5 blocks. Parking was excellent and not a problem. Breakfast was cinnamon rolls and coffee with flavored creamer […] starting at 8am so wake up on time to get your share. The room roomy enough for a family of 5. There were 2 queen size beds that were very comfortable. The 1.5 bathroom had a walk in shower with a seat but the water pressure was low. We liked the big flat screen with cable tv as well. Ok so now the cons, the young Indian guy at the front desk named Gobi could have been more welcoming he minimal eye contact and did not budge a smile. Basically he is not a people person, he did however answer any questions I had so don't be disappointed he just a young guy. I knew the rooms did not have any air conditioning but we did not expect our rooms to get so hot and stuffy during the cold weather but it was so we had to crack open the window. So I probably wouldn't come during the summer to this place. Also since it is a Motel you do here the occasional loud crowds that are walking to and from the local pubs. You can also here your neighbors slamming there doors and people coming and leaving in there cars. The rooms themselves were always very clean but a little out dated besides the t.v. This location has alot of potential to be a 4 star place if they renovated the rooms to look like the outside and the neighborhood. Overall I felt very safe here and the surrounding neighbor hood to walk at night. I would definitely come back again if I had the opportunity. Read more
"Hotel Capri"
The hotel was clean and close to resturants and shops. However, the walls are so thin you can hear your neighbors laughing. I am a hard sleeper so it was no big deal for me, but for my husband and daughter it was not a very restful night because of all the noise. For the price and location overall it was ok.
Could hear neighbors and the neighborhood was a little loud. Other than that had no issues staying in the heart of SF.
"very outdated hotel"
outdated room, would not stay there again. only one electrical outlet available in room and did not work. Had to use bathroom outlet. offered a coffee maker but no coffee pot!

"Really Surprised!!"
Me and my husband went here for our anniversary. Reading the reviews I was hoping I didnt book a roach coach. But the hotel is in a really "ritzy" neighborhood and I felt totally safe. Just a few blocks from the Marina where you find million dollar waterfront properties was amazing. Very convienently located off Lombard, and about 4 minute drive to […] to the Golden gate bridge. I will definitely stay at Motel Capri on my next visit. Read more
If you are looking for the location, then this hotel is for you. Located only two blocks away from marine and only about half a mile from Fisherman's Wharf, it is very convenient to go out at night for dinner and drinks or go shopping during the day. If you are looking for quietness, then don't come to this hotel. Our room was joined with another room […] by door, and we could hear everything what was going on in that room (Skype calls at 3: am o_O). We are young, and did not care much for the noise, but if you do like to get your beauty sleep in, you won't get it here. On the other hand, the room was very clean (even though bath room was outdated), bed was comfortable and it had a nice 42" flat screen. Overall, I would come here and stay here again, because location to me is more important than commodities like fancy bath tub or quieteness. Read more
"Best Bang for your Buck!"
Old building but overall a quiet stay in a nice neighborhood.
Hotel was extremely noisy. Had to find another hotel for the other 2nights I was in town.
"Motel Capri...No pretending"
Reasonable price....basic, clean, and comfortable. Perfect walk around neighborhoods. No pretending it is a silk purse. It is what it is...nice and clean, not perfumed, no bad fake art, straight forward. Could have used a light-blocking curtain. Neighbors doors were loud when they shut. I liked it. Will stay again.
"Motel Capri - A definite recommend!"
In the City for a concert at the Fillmore. Watching the budget, so I shopped around. The Capri is located in the Marina/Cows Hollow area (don't let the Cows Hollow name fool you, it's metropolitan SF). The motel is close enough to everywhere you want to go, but in a quiet scenic part of town. It's not luxury, but the rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. […] A little noisy on Saturday night (someone was having a party) but it quieted down early enough. Comparing the price and the room, Motel Capri will be at the top of my list for my next SF visit. "Hotel Capri-San Francisco"
Good Hotel for the money,in walking distance to Golden Gate bridge 1 1/2-2 hours,Embarcadero and Cable car about 30 minutes. For breakfast go somewhere else.Free parking in front of the hotel. Quiet residential area.Safeway in walking distance.
"SF Capri"
With some minor repairs to the furniture and the kitchenette this would be a great value for the money. The beds were very comfortable. The Bathroom was awesome. TV (Flat Screen) service was good but found it hard to work. The Front desk service was lacking but cordial. The morning breakfast consisted of coffee and a wrapped pastry. Free parking was […] a plus. and the location was close to city transit service. Other than a very few broken items and managements slow response to the problem this was a very very good value. "Great location, nice hotel staff."
I was pleasantly surprised how nice it was considering the price. Beds were nicely done up w/ comforters, and comfortable. The only negative was that it was noisy. Other guests, upstairs, next door, etc. were very noisy. A bit of excess noise from the street also.Other negative, while the coffee was great (I am a coffee snob) the prepackaged sweet rolls […] were awful. Stated that it included a continental breakfast, but no juice or anything else. Front desk staff were very very nice! All in all a great value for the price and would definitely stay there again. Very nice for the price. walls a little thin, but comfortable and convinent location. i'd definitely stay here again!!
"Motel Capri......Convenience"
If you are looking for aesthetics, this is not the place for you. The furniture was old and worn, my door safety chain was broke, and it had few electrical outlets. But on the plus side for me was the price , parking, WiFi that worked, and a very nice 42" HDTV with DishNetwork and HD channels including some HBO. The room was generally clean, and the […] shower was hot (not steaming) and they had soap. shampoo, shower cap, conditioner, etc. The bed was comfortable, and actually had very nice pillows (in terms of comfort) which are hard to find in most motels The location was in a good part of town (two blocks from Lombard), and there were plenty of restaurants in a five to ten block area. In conclusion I would not make this a "romantic" date location (but great for following dates when the bloom is of the rose lol) but for the price, the amenities (parking, WiFi, HD Cable TV etc.) you will be hard pressed to find a better deal in "inner" San Francisco. "Motel Capri in San Francisco"
This hotel has quite a bit of age on it, but the location really is in a reasonable part of town. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The walls are very thin so noise can be an issue. Overall the place is a good value and location.
"Mixed bag"
My first impression of Motel Capri was not good. Pulled up at about 1am to check-in. The lobby was locked, I had to find the buzzer then get buzzed in once someone emerged from the back. It took about 20 minutes for them to find my reservation, but it was eventually figured out. Finally got into the room and my first impression was an un-updated 70's […] roach motel. Decor was clearly not very up-to-date, but there was a 40" flat screen TV and the bathroom was reasonably nice looking. Morning shed a new light on things. A couple furnishings were certainly old, like the ceiling light and the couch, but otherwise things were fairly nice. The bed was comfortable and had very new looking linens. Everything was impeccably clean, much cleaner than I am used to hotel rooms being. So the room turned out to be fairly good, on par with any other motel but much cleaner. Free parking is a huge plus in SF, and there was coffee and danishes in the lobby in the morning even though breakfast is not said to be included. The location is fairly quiet being a block off the main drag, but our door had a 1/2" gap at the bottom, so we heard every noise that did happen to be made. Overall, I would say it is not a nice place to stay, but if your main goal is a clean and cheap place to stay, it is perfect. Read more

This is an old place! The bed was very comfortable and the price of the room is great for San Francisco.Free parking a plus! Good location for walking to waterfront and the GG Bridge. "Capri Motel"
Needs a complete make over, very noisey and hot.
"Motel Capri - close to Fillmore Street"
The motel is just 2 blocks from Fillmore Street with all its shops, restaurants, and wine bars. While the room had not been remodeled as some other reviewers claimed, it was clean and the free parking was a great deal. I would definitely stay there again.
"Capri Hotel-San Francisco"
The only thing decent about this hotel was the bed. There was just enough water pressure to fill a water glass, difficult for showers. Old scruffy furniture. Badly needs updating.
"Motel Capri San Francisco"
We loved the location. Only two blocks from Union St.and all the restaurants and nightlife you could want. 20 walk to Wharf. We extended our stay 2 nights and got a fair rate and the same room. Our Ca. king bed was delightful. Room could use new carpet, but it's an old funky motel. Continental breakfast was sparse, but at least the coffee was hot. We […] would most likely return and request the king room on the 3rd floor. Read more
This place was ok. It's a cheap for San Francisco...the parking wasn't great but it was free. The hotel definitely shows its age. No AC, and the curtains didn't completely close, but that was fixed with a couple of hairpins. The bed was incredibly comfortable. It was a little noisy outside but that was because we had the window open because of the […] lack of AC. No problems with the surrounding neighborhood...you walk around the block and you'll actually see range rovers parked by the sidewalks. Overall, it was worth it for a good night's sleep. Read more
"Thought it would be better"
Good things... I asked to check in a bit early, tho they did not want to accommodate, they did. Thank goodness. The bed was super comfortable! The white grout in the bathroom/shower is WHITE, that means clean. Bad things... Walls were super thin, guy next door was snoring loud, thank goodness for white noise apps. Breakfast was coffee and cheap packaged […] cinnamon rolls. This place looked a lot better on the internet. Read more
"Capri-a good value."
Located in the SF Marina area, it is very quiet and convenient. It was clean, and well kept. Using the Muni MTA and taxis, you can get anywhere in the city in minutes easily and cheaply. "Don't know S.F.? Stay here!"
My Husband and I were looking to celebrate our 5 years marriage with a local getaway and a concert. One of my fav. artists were playing at the 365, so as I am totally unfamiliar with S.F. I went soley by the reviews on Hotels.com and chose the Motel Capri. We were satisfied with the room, it had a very comfy bed, no draft nice clean bathroom, nice bench […] in the shower. We had to go to the front desk for an iron and a blow drier, No room service:/ but overall our stay was nice. The gem of this place is really the Location! We were literally around the corner to some of the best little restaurants and pubs, NO CABS! So although the room was about 60 dollars more than what we would have paid in San Jose for the same amenities, The money we saved on transportation and gas were well worth it. We parked our car for free when we got there and drove it home when we left (that was really great)! If you visit with nice weather like we did, I highly recommend the outdoor seating and awesome breakfast at Perrys just around the corner, and the off the charts delicious soups, MUSHROOMS and bread pudding at the Brazen Head literally across the street for dinner or a late night treat! We will definitely stay at the Motel Capri again. Read more
