We couldn't have been happier with this hotel. The room had a full kitchen, the hotel offered a wonderful breakfast and free laundry. There was tea service in the room and the metro was very close. I thought the hotel was great!

I booked a room here to attend a conference and was pleasantly surprised by the standard of the place. The room was extrememly spacious and had everything you could want really. There was a large flat screen TV and a really nice shower. The bed was extremely comfortable. I would definitely book this place again if I ever return to Newcastle.

Always stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Newcastle before but they didn't have availability for this trip so went with the Staybridge (as they are also part of the Priority Club group) and will be going there for all future visits! Terrific suite, kitchen I would love to have in my own apartment, good use of space plus complementary breakfast, laundry […] room and gym, and a small shop for any other food items, etc. you might want. They also accept restaurant deliveries for you, and supermarket deliveries which they will even put in your fridge if you are not there. I think they get quite a few people staying with them for extended periods as well as three day stays like mine. The best budget hotel I have ever stayed at anywhere in the world. (At the moment the only other one they have in the UK is in Liverpool.) Read more

I was very happy with this hotel. I stayed for nearly a week to attend a nearby academic conference. The special rate that I booked ahead of time was a bargain, and the value for money was one of the best I have found in the U.K. The hotel was comfortable, rooms were not cramped, and everyone was helpful and courteous. Up until this stay I'd always tried to book in with the Hilton, but I don't think that will be happening anymore! The staybridge is something a bit different, it is very high quality, but gives you options should you decide you don't want to go out at night you have no problem taking something there to cook, or even ordering take-away in. Breakfast […] was good although it's only even bacon OR sausage - never both. There was a good selection of fruit, cereals, and they even have an ample selection of soya milk (something which my wife liked as she's allergic to normal milk). On a weekend I wouldn't leave it late for breakfast as it can get crowded, and the toaster is a bit quirky, but you'll get there eventually. Staff were polite and welcoming and car parking ample. To those who gripe about car parking charges - it's not uncommon in any city these days, and pretty much any major hotel in Newcastle has the same sort of policy. The one very minor gripe is how the rooms are advertised, it's not very clear whether you get a separate bedroom when it's advertised. Generally speaking if you see 'studio suite' there bedroom/sofa is in the same room - and saying they're not particularly small rooms anyway. If you want the separate bedroom then you generally pay the higher rate (apologies for stating the obvious!). I will have no hesitation returning to the staybridge, and just wish there were more of them dotted around the country. Read more

This is a very conveniently situated hotel in Newcastle within walking distance of the Tyne and with great views of the Millenium Bridge. The staff were helpful and friendly. It doesn't pretend to be more than it is - but the entrance and dining area could be re-organised and be better planned to make more of a statement. The bed was lovely and clean […] and fresh and the self-service kitchen well equipped with clean modern utensils. The room was warm but not too hot. Big problems is they were unable to provide twin rooms, only double beds and no extra beds were available. Breakfast could have been improved in quality... the hot food was dried out and the sausages not good quality....and the juices should have been fresh. With a small amount of tinkering this hotel could be much more of a crowed pleaser....but I would stay there again if I was staying in the city without a car. Read more

Hotel made a bad first impression because when I checked in they informed me the type of room I reserved through Expedia did not exist at their location. While an adequate alternate was arranged I was not impressed. Some of the walls were missing baseboard trim and had holes in the wallboard at the base.

Very reasonable rate for what is in effect a small apartment. Full kitchen, good bathroom, sitting area, lots of space. Very well equipped if we had wanted to eat in the room, but also very close to centre of Newcastle and Quayside so plenty of places to eat. This is the second time I've stayed at the Staybridge in Newcastle and I would highly recommend it. It's a great 'hotel', fantastic location in the centre of Newcastle and the quality of the fixtures, fittings and furniture is very good. The rooms have their own kitchen and sofa, a feature I love, even if I don't actually use it that much. The rooms […] have been quiet and are very comfortable. There is also a laundry facility and a small gym room. The only negatives I can think of are that the views from the 3rd floor aren't amazing, especially if you're over looking the parking area.
