I booked this hotel for my mother and her brothers for a short family get together while visiting their sister in Jax Beach. They all said it was clean and nice--esp loved the breakfast, could not believe it had so much variety of diff foods and they said it was delicious! Only dissatisfied thing is that when I made the reservation, they said the room had two doubles and a sofa bed, but found out when they checked in the hotel had no such thing--so kind of squished with 3 grown people in one room. But overall they enjoyed the trip and would stay there again.

Really nice hotel. My only complaint is that the non-smoking rooms smell like smoke.

"Its Cheap."
The staff was excellent. I arrived very late, they left a note and the key was waiting in the room. The motel is right on the beach, but most rooms do not have ocean views. Its a great deal for the winter discount rate. I dont think I'd pay the full summer season rate.
"Beachside Hotel---ok for the price"
My husband and I stayed for 3 nights at the Beachside. It is just okay. Not horrible. Not wonderful. For the price, I would say it's a fair value. It was very quiet but we were there in the dead of winter, so it's not a busy time for them. The room needed some sprucing: the walls needed paint and the bathroom was kind of yucky, but it seemed fairly […] clean. The thing that surprised me was the fact that no one was in the lobby when we arrived around 10 pm and they left our name and room # on a note on the lobby door---and left the room unlocked with the keys inside. That was a little sketchy I thought but okay, I can understand. What was really bad was the next night when we got to the hotel, the room had been cleaned, but the door was left unlocked again---and all our belongings were in the room!!! Not cool. The location is great though, in the residential part of Fernandina with a few other hotels around and lots of pretty beach houses. You can see the ocean from the rooms if you look, but it's a side view. The beds were comfy and clean, but the pillows were kind of flat. The Beachside Motel was fine. The office staff was pleasant and helpful with local knowledge. They even supplied us with old towels in the morning to wipe our motorcycles down with. A staff this nice always makes the stay worthwhile.
"Beachside Motel Fernandina Beach - close to beach"
I got what I wanted out of my stay at the Beachside - I wanted to be close to the beach. Although our room was a little dusty, had weak wireless internet signal, had a stove but no microwave or hair dryer I still enjoyed my stay. The reviews I had read were right on that this isn't the Ritz but is so close to the beach it was worth the money.

"good value"
If they removed the carpet, it'd be perfect. The location is good, the pool is great, and the customer service was excellent. I had to call in to work right at checkout time, they let me use one of the freshly cleaned rooms to make my call. No charge, no hassle--they really went out of their way to help me out. "Outstanding Value and Very Pleasant"
It's not the Ritz or Marriott Marquis but a very pleasant , impeccably maintained beach motel ideal for those like me who want an adequate place to stay while they visit a beach they love. It's located on the beach midway down Amelia Island on A1A in a quiet neighborhood of condominiums and traditional beach cottages. Room was clean, fresh, and well […] maintained. So was the swimming pool and deck. You have a shower coming in from the beach to get all sand off before going back to your room which was also a plus for me. All in all, it's an ideal place for a personal or family retreat, and kids will love it. Direct ocean views are possible from the kitchenette rooms on the end of the building . Side views are possible from the chairs on deck outside of all other rooms. GREAT VALUE for what it offers. Extremely attentive and courteous staff. Also, to me, the best food on the island is right across the highway at the Surfside Restaurant and Tavern. Read more
