"Enjoyed my stay"Reviewed by Dianne B of "Hawaii" on Apr 8, 2012
At first we were put in a small cramped room with no window. A quick call to the desk changed that to a much more spacious and comfortable room. We had to stay in HCMC longer that we thought and they accomodated us with an extra night and bumped us up to a suite at no extra charge. The breakfast here was suprisingly good, much better than I expected. At least there were eggs, fried potatoes and fresh fruit. The fruit in VN is wonderful, so ripe, better than I can get in the super markets back home in Hawaii. The hotel staff was super helpful, and always took care of any issues immediately and at their expense of time or effort. Most gracious. I am going back in a few weeks and this is where I am staying again. Ben Thran Market is only about 3 blocks away and everything is easy to get to. This is a small 3 star hotel that behaves like a 4 star. My fiance who lives in HCMC would not allow me to go walking outside by myself so I didn't see as much of the city as I wanted but next time I will go on tours and that should satisfy the protective Papa Bear. LOL.
"Just fine"Reviewed by Michael H of "San Francisco, CA" on Apr 6, 2012
It has all the amenities that you would expect of a hotel in this class, and it has a much nicer fitness room than you tend to see in Asian hotels. Breakfast buffet was well stocked with Western dishes, some Japanese-type dishes, but no local dishes (which was a disappointment, but I suppose travelers eating at a hotel buffet are not typically very adventurous). It's quite close to the Dong Khoi shopping/tourist area, although you have to walk through a somewhat sketchy set of side streets to get there. Typically Vietnamese, I guess, but not always sidewalks and lots of parked motorbikes to push through. That said, they can get reliable taxis at the hotel and they're never very expensive within the city. The lobby bar has a nice atmosphere to it; it is overpriced, but it's a hotel with a higher level of service, so this is expected. All in all, a comfortable place to stay.

"Lots of things wrong"
I stayed with my family and had 3 separate rooms. Room 1 had no working ac. Room 2 was so cramped that it can cause claustrophobia. Room 3 had a bathtub that leaked regardless of what you try doing. And when you ask for towels, they bring you pillows over and over again. Few employees actually speak English for such a busy hotel. Breakfast area is barely […] air conditioned and we weren't even there in Ho chi Minh during its hottest months. However, we got upgraded to the nicer suites and it's a world of difference. The suites are comfortable and great. So if you go just make sure to shell out a few extra bucks to get the nicer rooms. Read more
"close to all must-see sights, great value!"
When I booked this hotel, I didn't expect a whole lot from this hotel because it was so cheap. But after staying there for the entirety of my trip, I have to say that it was the best value for my buck. The hotel is conveniently located in District 1 right next to Binh Thanh Market. It's location makes it convenient to walk to all the tourist sites such […] as he War Museum and the Reunification center. The service was great and I would defiitely stay there the next time I go. Friendly staff, good location not far from shopping and tourist sites. Breackfast buffet was excellent. The room A/C took a while to cool things down. I would say here again.
"Great Spa Place Too"
Very convenient location to night market shopping, street vendors, 24hour mini marts. Their breakfast buffet was good. Hotel had a special where they were giving 40%off their spa packages. AMAZING spa. After the discount, for USD50 each, friend and I got an hour massage, an hour facial, 30min foot massage, and 30mins to use their sauna, jacuzzi, and […] steam room. Very clean. "Tan Hai Long - Tiny room but clean, good service"
Room is tiny but clean. Breakfast is included, good variety. Close to Ben Thanh Price may be higher than surrounding 3* hotels.
"Super convenient"
The staff was great, as was the restaurant. The location couldn't be more convenient. I booked two tours through the hotel staff, and both were fun and inexpensive. My only minor complaint is that if you stay in the A wing (front of the hotel) you can definitely hear the traffic. I popped in some ear plugs and slept just fine, but if that is an issue […] for you definitely request a room in the B wing. I upgraded from a Deluxe room to a Suite after the first night, and the suite was definitely worth the extra money if you are traveling w someone else. Read more
"Great location, great service"
As is typical with Vietnamese, the service here is excellent. The hotel is clean and respectable. The breakfast is simply OK, but at this price point, I doubt you're seeking culinary perfection. The location is spectacular. Many fun attractions are within easy walking distance, or there is ALWAYS a taxi parked right outside.
"Excellent 3 Star Hotel"
Originally booked a VIP suite which was in the A side of the hotel (being updated). Room was OK but noisy (9am to about 4pm) due to the renovation of the ajacent rooms. Upon complaining to management they immediately moved us to the B side which was already updated. The manager came to the room with a spa gift certificate in hand and adjusted the price […] since the new room was a little smaller. The manager was very professional and personally greeted me every time he saw me. Breakfast was very good and a few items changed every day but food was always fresh and tasty. Room service was also very good as well as house keeping services. The spa facilities were also very nice and wish I went down sooner because I would have used them more. $20 USD for an hour massage was a great deal compared to other regions of the world. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again! Read more
"Affordable clean hotel in the center of Saigon"
The location of this hotel is very convenient as it is literally right next to the the Ben Tanh market, where many travelers would buy trinkets, clothing, etc. It is also very close to most of the major attractions in Saigon. The hotel was overbooked when I checked in, but they upgraded me to a junior suite, which was very nice. The staff all spoke […] English and all were very courteous and professional. The decor of the hotel is 3-star classy, with a lot of ornate moldings and gold paints. The staircases are also haphazard. TV channels did not all worked. A/C blew just fine, takes a bit to cool, but once it does it stays very cool. Read more
"Nothing to fault"
I booked a junior suite and the in room jacuzzi was awesome. Location of hotel was just steps away from Ben thanh market and extremely convenient after having dinner at the night market. Hotel staff was friendly and allowed me to checkout at 1230 instead of 12pm although there was a tour group that just arrived and waiting for rooms. The only thing […] I didn't like about the room was that the windows aren't tinted and the flats opposite could see through the rooms. I would definitely book tan hai long again if I go back to hcmc! "A true gem"
I was pleasantly surprised how well the hotel was run. The staff was very courteous and all spoke English well and very enthusiastic. Hotel is very convenient to all major shopping and restaurant and other 5 star hotels--across street from Ben Thanh Market walking distance to the Rex hotel, etc...The massage at the Spa was great--very well trained and […] skilled massage therapists. They were very accommodating, I asked for late check out and stayed 1.5 hours past the late check out time and they did not charge me for the full night only half. They are in process of renovating a roof top restaurant and has a penthouse meeting room which can be used as a yoga space. I ended up staying an additional 4 nights! Read more
"Hotel - good location, price, breakfast and spa!"
Clean rooms, good complementary breakfast selection and a very nice spa all for a good price. Ben Thanh Market next to hotel.
"Tan Hai Long Hotel & Spa"
Great value hotel - 4+-stars for 2-3 star price. Breakfast buffet was very good. Spa was pricey and over-rated (when comparing with other HCMC prices, not US prices). Great, convenient location. A bit noisy - windows don't keep out street noise, and doors don't keep out hallway noise (poor seal all around the door). Very helpful with tours, maps, questions, […] etc., and plenty of english-speaking personnel to help. Read more
"New & modern hotel feel"
This was not the original hotel we booked, but when our schedule changed and the original hotel was higher in price, I found this hotel that was less expensive and seemed to have a better rating. We were not disappointed. The location at the market seemed great... a front and back entrance, so depending on where you have walked from, easy entry. The […] hotel is very modern and it was called a grand "re"opening. The room was large, bright, modern feeling. The bathroom had a jacuzzi tub (my sister put clothes in with her and felt like she had a washing machine too!). The people at the desk were very helpful as well as @ the restraurant. They had a bank of computers (6 or so) for guest to use which was very nice. There were really only two neg's. My sister could not get the wifi to work in the room and I didn't think that the food was great for breakfast. It was certainly fine and a lot of it (even a Halal section) but I didn't think it was super tasty. I really felt that we got a newer, fresher hotel for a cheaper price. All in all, very satisfied. No hotel in Vietnam or Cambodia gave lotion or hair conditioner.... if you use, take those with you on your travels. They all give a toothbrush, comb, soap and shampoo. (shower cap and usually q-tips) Read more
"Enjoyed even more than the 5 star Sheraton!"
We stayed at the Sheraton Nha Trang hotel after this...and I must say that I actually enjoyed my stay at Tan Hai Long Hotel much better. Tan Hai not only had better and more personal service, but just they overall experience was great. We took the night bus out of HCMC and we had to check out around noon, but the hotel was very accommodating in holding […] our bags the entire day while we went to the Cu Chi Tunnels. They even let us shower in their spa after our tour, so we could be fresh and clean for the night bus ride to Nha Trang. I never write reviews for anything and I wanted to give them a good rating because it was the least I could do for their above and beyond service. Also, the location couldn't be any better because it is right next to the Ben Thanh Market. Read more

"Hotel at Ho Chi Minh near Benh Thanh Market"
Hotel room for the superior was smaller than we expected. We booked 3 rooms. But they could only allow 1 room to be extended by 1 hour only. Location is a stone throw from Benh Thanh market and a 5 to 10mins walk to Saigon Square so very convenient for those who plan to do lots of shopping. Buffet spread was reasonable and acceptable. But dining area […] was a little small so when you go for breakfast n during the peak hours you may have difficulty finding a seat for your family. So better to get up early to beat the crowd. Overall, I would still recommend this hotel to fellow travellers. Read more
"Hotel Tan Hai Long in HCMC - great location"
The staff at Tan Hai Long were very helpful and friendly. We came in late at night and our confirmation had not come through due to internet problems. We were accomodated at another hotel the first night and then given an upgraded room at Tan Hai Long for the remainder of our stay.

"Just Great.."
The had a room without any windows for us at check in. I complaint and was ready to leave hotel, then they upgraded us to a much better room (small suite?) Thereafter everything was really nice! Great service, for Vietnam very nice breakfast (eggs anyway you want, fruit, bread, yogurt, many warm things and always two great soups) Room had very nice […] bath, great working airco and LCD TV with several movie channels. A very clean hotel and room! Free internet in lobby and Free Wifi in room. I would go back to stay in same hotel again, surely clean and safe. Read more

"Tan Hai Long HCMC"
This hotel is very convenient for centre of HCMC within walking distance of most attractions. Very easy to get the airport bus no. 152 to Market in centre of town it is just across the road- bus 3000vnd per person plus luggage much cheaper than taxi and very handy for this hotel
"SUPER HOTEL, GREAT PRICE"
I stay at the hotel for a week. I enjoy my stay and would stay when I come back to the city there again. Best deal in the city. You have wi-fi, the rooms and bathroom are kept clean. The staff was friendly and willing to help all your needs. The restaurant on the top floor serve great food and has a must see view. of the city. For the price it is worth […] every penny. I book on line and had no problem with my late night check in. The Ben Thanh Market is only a block away. The sell little of everything from food, cloths, When that market close, there is many more night markets around the corner to with many items for sell. If you want a great deal give a shot. "Tan Hai Long Hotel HCM"
Very central. You are located in the middle of this crazy city which doesn't sleep. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. The views from the restaurant which is located on top floor puts everything into perspective, the park opposite the hotel is always celebrating some event or promotion. The markets are to the left of the hotel where there is […] always something there to entertain the young and old. We had a front room which was noisy but that wasn't a problem for us as it added to the culture of the city. We had been woken up by music coming out of the PA system from the park, only to discover people doing their morning exercises. You could join in from the comfort of your room. "Tan Hai Long Hotel in HCMC - home away from home"
The manager and staff at this hotel made every effort to make our stay pleasant. In fact, we returned there 2 more times during our month-long visit to S.E. Asia and it came to feel like our home away from home. The location near Ben Thanh market is excellent and the top floor restaurant provides a nice view while you breakfast. The rooms are very nice […] but be sure to request one with a window! If we return to Ho Chi Minh City, we would definitely stay there again. Read more

[…] It is located in the heart of the shopping area with the Ben Than market a block away. Loads of fun bargaining and shopping. I plan on returning. Just lovely!! "Bad service, small rooms"
My boyfriend and I had booked the junior suite, which turned out to be the size of a superior room with a couch sqeezed in. Bathroom hadspa which was detatched from the wall so the bathroom […] floor was wet during showering. Breakfast was ok, but dining room was very hot with no air-conditioner. Location was good. It's a great hotel with all the necessities to make our stay comfortable. Staffs were very helpful. It's close to the main street in HCMC Le Loi. Breakfast was great and raw vege as salad didn't make my stomach grumble at all. Wifi was smoooooooth. :) A few points of improvement: - One night my neighbor started taking shower at 3 n the morning and […] we were immediately awaken. The walls in between rooms were too thin. - The massage parlor in tower B offered a relaxing ambiance but the masseur could add a little more force. Excelent location . Very efficient and really friendly staff. The room was very cosy and confortable. Nice atmosphere and breakfeast. The price is also good considering the quality of the hotel and being a 3 stars. I will recommend it to friends.
Good location, friendly staffs.
Clean friendly hotel in great location. Next door to markets and half way between the backpacker district and the more expensive area. Small rooms that don't fit much more than a bed - but ok if your not planning on staying in your hotel much.
"Nice hotel Brilliant location"
Stayed here for 5 nights. Had a room with no view ( you don't go to a country just to stay in your room) but very good air con. Nice spacious room with fair sized bathroom. very strong shower. Excellent location right next to the main market and a moderate 20 minute walk to all the sights worth seeing
