"overall quite good"
hotel was fine, rooms clean, service good, location not the best and restaurant menu very limited. overall satisfied but would probably use the cheadle venue which is better although double the priceGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Okay but dated"
Not up to the usual Village standard as it was quite dated.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was ok, the rooms were fine, our problem was functions! There were party's on in every possible space within the what we thought was a HOTEL, even 3/4 of the bar area was cordoned off, which happened to be the only area serving food, this made it impossible to get a table! Room service was the only option available for our family. It would […] be fair to say party's are more important the quests. We won't be back!!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good Rooms and Excellent Breakfast"
The stay was fine but was very disappointed as when we booked we did this because it looked as though there was a nice restaurant. We went to the hotel but found that the restaurant could not be used and was fully booked which was disappointing. The web site should have stated that the restaurant was fully booked due to Christmas Party on this particular […] night so that we could have found some where else. Other than that was good. "Very poor and not what expected."
Unfortunately I left this hotel very disappointed. The hotel is in need of a desperate makeover. Our room was very dusty and in a general poor state. Around the edge of my 'work chair' was a thick layer of dust (clearly visible) to the point that I didn't want to sit in the chair at all. Also, around the room edge and on plugs.... more clearly visible […] dust. The bed was okay. As we had an early wake up on day one we ordered room service for breakfast, but this never arrived. Apparently someone forgot. The 'free' fast internet was so slow it was unusable. I couldn't get a single page to load. The hotel clearly caters for parties and I couldn't sleep all night due to the constant noise. Dinner was okay, but very expensive for what we got. About £15 for a burger. I have stayed at other Village hotels, but wont now try any that I haven't stayed at before. Very disappointed and unhappy. After a day of work I like to come back to the hotel to relax in comfort. I couldn't do this here. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Nice room & hotel, however service was not good. From getting to our room to find someone in the bed... Not a good start... what else can i sayGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Helpful and friendly staff"
The hotel ticked all the boxes for an overnight stay en-route to a family function. The Leisure facilities were a great boost. Unfortunately our stay was marred by guests in the room next door who kept the whole corridor awake until the early hours of the morning. The staff tried there hardest to address the situation, but with little results. Perhaps […] with hindsight they could have moved the offenders to rooms adjoining the rest of their wedding party. "Quite a find for such a grotty area"
The staff were excellent, particularly in the restaurant where they remembered us from out previous visit. The room was ok, but unfortunately the guests in the next room seemed to be partying all night... A good place to stay if you have dogs with you.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

This was a great getaway and overal we were very satisfied. Had swimming pool with steam room & sauna and gym facility's. Breakfast was included. This was all included in our 2 night stay. Would stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Douglas on reception stole the show!!"
Here we are back again at the village, lovely service from all the staff especially Douglas on reception, he can't do enough for you, he's bubbly and efficient what a wonderful first impression of the hotel he promotes. As there was a wedding on that day Douglas said I'll put you on the quieter side so it doesn't disturb you...and it didn't ,we didn't […] hear a thing. The breakfast was huge with an enormous choice of everything freshly cooked .The room was clean and comfortable. Last time we stayed I left my ear rings which Douglas again returned by post, by the way i love the new uniform everyone looks great. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great leisure facilities, comfortable rooms"
Best thing about this hotel is the leisure facilities - the pool is about 20-25 metres which is almost unheard of for a hotel and the gym is extensive. The health club showers could do with a deep clean though, the cubicle walls and floor tiles have a bit of mildew. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the iron & ironing board and decent hairdryer […] in all rooms are welcome. There's no safe and the bathroom provisions extend to hand soap and shower gel in wall-mounted dispensers, but I always take my own anyway so that's fine. Breakfast is not bad - a bit limited for people with food allergies though they did have some GF bread on request. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very under rated"
Rooms were nice and clean but the location and facilities really impressed me. Free parking, free Wifi, breakfast included (good variety considering I'm a Muslim and can't have some of the food) and the leisure facilities like swimming pool, sauna and steam room makes me say to anyone wanting to be close to city centre as better than ideal. I tried […] booking at other chains like Premier, Travelodge and many more who were double or triple the price without the facilities of this hotel. If I ever need to be in Manchester again, I won't be staying in city centre, it will have to be Village Urban Resort! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great if away and need to use gym"
Village Hotels are great if away on Business a lot and want to use the gym. Wifi and breakfast included as well as all gym and health club access. Full gym and pool, including classes. Not much in surrounding area but Starbucks, restaurant and pub all on site.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Convenient for visiting Manchester"
Really good location, with friendly, helpful staff and great leisure facilities. A slight misunderstanding with the room was quickly resolved. The pool is brilliant and the associated changing facilities spotless - a real joy to use. We both really enjoyed the treatments available at the Spa - fantastically relaxing massage. Also used the Victory Pub […] - great real ale and good food served by jolly and a attentive staff. Breakfast also very good. The whole place was bustling and well used by a range of groups - professionals having meetings and training events, as well as a wedding going on - and we remarked on how good it was to see the hotel bustling with activity without it feeling overrun - clearly well managed. All in all a really relaxing, hassle free stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Never again, pathetic hotel near junk yard"
We arrived at the hotel with a great expectation having heard about Village hotels but it was a big dissappointment. The hotel is near old factories, junk yard location, surrounded by industrial area. The roads to the hotel are bad and scary. The rooms have basic furnishing easily comparable to Travel Lodge. The rooms are very small with hard mattress, […] useless toileteries and rough toilet tissue. The hotel has weired policy of no kids after 5pm in the swimming pool & spa area. Staff is rude, unwelcoming and clueless. Breakfast was rubbish, coffee & tea were nothing better then hot water, very little choice in breakfast and that too the quantiy was missing. There was no croissants even though in room pictures had big pictures of them. Upon asking first the waitress said rudey there is no croissants, when we challenged her she said ok I will get some. Then after 15 min came the worst croissants we have ever tasted, bought from Lidl and kept in the fridge for 3 days. When we asked if they would have a banana for our infant again the rude reply no we don't keep banana. Then after 10 min one of the waitress managed to get one rotten one from the kitchen. We had to ask for hot milk 5 times and wait for 30 min. We can continue with this the whole day and the list of bad things about the hotel will not complete. Avoid at all cost, won't even stay there for free ever after in our life. Waste of time and money and a big mood spoiler. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Comfy, clean and quiet, great breakfast, a bargain"
Check in was very efficent, the young man who dealt with us was very knowledgable and went out of his way to check us in quickly (it was quite late and I think we looked exhausted, which we were)he gave us clear information about where out room was situated and told us about breakfast and asked would we like to book in the restaurant. We did look at […] the munu but couldn't see anything we fancied. En route to our room which was room 6 we heard very loud music from a function room I have to say I was a little concerned about how loud it was but as the corridor fire door closed behind us so was the noise, ah peace and quite. The room was fine with a comfy bed and a great shower, we even had a large table fan as it was very warm that day. Breakfast was great with a constant flow of hot fresh eggs, bacon, sausage plus everything else and more, staff were very efficient. Well done to all the staff. Great stay. The air conditioning plant/central heating and other pipework was directly outside of the bedroom window and these hummed all night, making it difficult to sleep with the window open. "Great Facilities, Shame about the 0 hours sleep."
First impressions, great, nice bar/restaurant, good food, pool etc looked good. Tested the facilities - pool/steam room etc, all very nice. Got room keys, looked ok, nothing super but clean and seemed ok. Got a taxi from reception no problem to Etihad for the concert we were in Manchester for. We arrived back at the hotel at around 12.15 to find that […] there was a late night disco/dj on, had not been made aware of this prior to booking, this went on until 1am, not what we wanted when we wanted to go to sleep!! 1am came & went, great some sleep, no...clunking from rooms above, great! Eventually that stopped too...but then our 'neighbours' came back & decided to have a party in the room next to us at 2.30am, 2.45am and we called reception to complain, receptionist came & asked them to be quiet so they turned the music off....only for them to keep talking/shouting until 4.45am when I called & complained again. So yeah, whole night and maybe 1 hr sleep in total, not what I needed to drive back to Newcastle. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A Party Hotel"
If its a party venue you are looking for, this is the place. Not a hotel to stay at if you are looking for a good nights sleep. Hen and stag parties results in noise in corridors and rooms for most of the night. Hotel staff do nothing even though we asked prior to arrival and at check in for a quiet room away from lifts etc. Public areas were not too […] bad for upkeep although we did see doors that with holes in and curtains ripped. "Great weekend however felt very let down"
Arrived for my 40th birthday on Friday 7th June. Met by nice bubbly guy at desk who advised we needed to book for restaurant. This we did. Had meal which was fab however when we went to put bill on our room we were told we couldn't because we hadn't actioned this on check in..... Never asked! Next morning we found out there was a bar we could have had […] dinner in (which we would have preferred but again never mentioned to us). Next morning went for breakfast ( had to guess what time breakfast was as not told )and after we went through the whole stack of plates to find a clean one we then had to wait approx 15 mins and asking 4 members of staff for more beans and bacon. Told reception nothing really Said. My friends then joined us that lunch time and bit told everything the hotel had to offer. "Comfortable stay with good facilities"
Friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast, good swimming pool, plenty of parking and easy access to Manchester city centre via train station which is just across the road. I have stayed in here several times and would recommend it on the friendliness of the staff. This latest time we were allocated a quiet room (which it was) but found that the waste bin had not been emptied from the previous guests(!) When I informed the man on reception he did say it would be dealt with immediately-and by the time we returned from the […] restaurant it had been removed. I also asked why, on each of my visits when BBC1goes to the regional news bit, the scottish news and weather is shown-especially odd when the half of the BBC now has to work less than 10 miles away in Salford. Apparently a technical glitch of some sort but one that has been that way to my knowledge for many months. ITV channel is fine as it picks up the local Granada news exactly as it should. I use this hotel for its convenience and also the price but the best asset is most definitely the consistent friendly attitude of the staff-they make an average hotel memorable Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good hotel for a day out in Central Manchester"
Had a great 1 night stay, room and staff superb had some great food in the pub and breakfast was excellent. after reading the reviews before we went we were a little concerned about our stay. We had stayed at a devere village hotel before so knew they were not a four star but good for the price. The hotel was clean and comfortable and would consider going again.Genuine Expedia guest review
Easy enough to find, being a hotel spa I expected it to be more in the country, not in an industrial/housing estate. Room was ok, we do not like the plastic matteress covers they use, they make you sweat too much, so we have to take those off to get a good nights sleep. There is no residents route to the pool/gym, which is a shame, I feel uneasy walking […] through the recption area in my swimwear. On the sunday, we asked for an extra half hour on checkout, from 11 to 11.30, this was because the breakfast room was very busy and we had to wait for 15 minutes for a table, the recptionest said the cleaners would be in the room to clean at 11am so no, unless we paid £10 for a 2pm checkout, so we rushed our breakfast, which was nice, and scrapped out at 2 minutes past 11. Please note the cleaners were not hammering on our door. We asked if there was anything of interested in the area, no nothing came the reply. We found the birthplace of Man U, and quite a few black history facts locally, shame the staff dont know or are not interested in the area. all in all not a bad place, but we will not be going back Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Took a few attempts to get a room that was acceptable, due to various "housekeeping" problems. Service in Bar for drinks / food couldn`t be faulted. "Dont think Village hotel"
It was ok but if your used to the quality and finish of this chain - forget it. Whilst it did have the usual facilities, the hotel was generally 'a bit tired' and in need of refurbishment. We found our room to be reasonably clean but things like a big dirty hole in the bathroom ceiling was not very nice. "Did The Job"
This Village is looking a little tired now but I cannot fault the staff - really hard working and willing to pull out the stops to help make the saty a good one - e.g. a £1 coin was needed for the locker by the pool - we didn't have one so the member of staff lent us a £1! Little things like that make a big difference. Breakfast was great and all very […] civilised - no big rush and plenty of space between the tables. The only down side was for the bed - some form of waterproof sheet was on top of the mattress (clearly they made some assumptions about me!!) but under the bedsheet - result - a very sweaty and uncomfortable night!! I stayed here for 1 night and to be honest that was enough. There is another De Vere Village hotel down the road which i thought i was booking (which is very good). My room was in the basement and quite a walk from reception, the further you went the grottier it got! I ended up thinking i took a wrong turn down a grim stairwell, but it was actually […] the correct route to my room. Numerous stains on the bathroom walls. I went upto reception to see if i could move rooms, but the receptionist was getting a hard time from another guest so took pity and thought 'its only for 1 night'.The local area is pretty miserible and didn't feel confident about leaving stuff in the car.Oh also my room looked out onto a brick wall where the rubbish bins were.Do yourselves a favour and book at the other De Vere Village down the road.
