Hotel Albert I - Bruges

In a town where everything is close together, this hotel seemed a bit further out. Still very walkable, but there are others which might be more conveninet to the foot-weary. Plus: bus stop is right out the front door of the hotel.

We stayed in this hotel for two nights, and it was really great. On Saturday, there's an open air market right across the street that was really interesting. It's a short walk to the center of town, and only a 10 minute walk to the train station. The staff were extremely helpful. The wireless internet service was quite good. They treat you like family and was very clean and nice. Lovely breakfast and location couldn't be better. You use public parking across street. The hotel has no elevator, so must climb stairs with bags. I would book again!!!!

Within walking distance to the train station and about a 5 minute walk to the Markt. Our room had double windows to keep out the traffic noise (bus station is across the street). Breakfast was wonderful and had a good assortment of things to eat.

Perfect location and easy walk between train station and market square. Four adults (parents and two adult children) stayed in a two-bedroom suite. A little tricky to get the luggage up two flights of a narrow, winding staircase. Continental breakfast was good.

This family run hotel offers excellent service delivered with friendliness. The position of the Hotel, 10mins walk from the train station and 10 mins walk from the main square, is excellent. The room was clean and very comfortable. The buffet breakfast was also more tahn adequate for a days site seeing.

It was mid December, freezing cold, but when we arrived the windows were open and no heating on! Eventually got heating working and it was very efficient, unfortunately when going out the next day they opened all the windows again. Breakfast was ok, not a great deal of choice but all fresh.

This hotel is in a perfect location, parking opposite underground from the bus stops. 10 min walk to the bell tower. The hotel itself was immaculate, the staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was plentiful and authentic, the atmosphere everywhere just as the In Bruges film says is like a fairy tale!!.. Couldn't fault it.

The hotel is on the outskirts of the city, close to the bus terminal. There is a fairly busy road directly outside, but the rooms are quadrupal glazed, with opening windows. The hotel is not moden outside or inside, but is kept very well, with quality furniture throughought. Overall well maintained, with friendly staff. A pleasant, family run hotel with two of the most sincere, friendly and obliging staff that I have ever come across. The room itself was a little on the small side but clean and well equipped with an adequate bathroom. The only dissapointment was the lack of kettle and teapot which did not allow for a quite brew in the evening. It would not suit anyone […] who has walking difficulties as all rooms are upstairs, in our case three flights of a very narrow spiralling staircase, and there is no lift. The location could hardly be better, with the station only ten minutes level walk away and all of the main city centre attractions even closer. Going out a little further try and locate the Hotel Gran Kaffee de Passage restaurant about 700 metres away. After stumbling on this restaurant by chance on our first night we found the food to be so good that we went back every night for a week. Read more

Excellent location, close to Bruges railway station (easy 17 mins walk with case, 1 stop on bus or 5 mins in taxi). Although opposite bus station, no need to worry about noise at night as station appears to close overnight. Room was well maintained and serviced, the decor being in keeping with the Bruges experience we had hoped for. Ample breakfast, very efficiently served in a homely dining room, set us up for the day. Hotel Albert I was within walking distance of the railway station, restaurants and all the major attractions in Bruges. The hotel was very clean and the staff were friendly and very helpful. The rooms aren't huge, but they are pleasant and exceptionally clean. There was plenty of wardrobe space and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was airy […] and light with modern fittings and an excellent shower. The continental breakfast was buffet style with a good choice to please most travellers. Good central location. No wheelchair or in our case pushchair acces to the rooms but the staff were offering help when someone was at the reception. The breakfast was a good quality European breakfast and again the ladies will try and make anything for you. We had three bed room and there was a space for a cot bed as well although we had our own with […] us and we didn't check if they would provide. There was no air conditioning in the room but on our visit there was no need for air con. There was some kind of a smell in the room but I think it was due to the need of updating of the room, nothing terrible though but you would notice if you leave the vindows closed all day. We also had bikes with us and they stored the bikes for us in their small garden. We had the top floor family room, which was okay but quite noisy. There's no way you could sleep with an open window. Also the rooms have no coffee/tea making facilities, i.e. a small jug, which we would have found useful in the evenings. On the plus side the breakfast is good and the hotel is very central.

This is a very charming hotel close to the rail station and opposite the bus station. Within 5 minutes walk of the main part of Bruge. Hotel room was small but was immaculately clean, as was the rest of the hotel. Breakfast was good and enough choice to ensure you didn't leave hungry. Would recommend to others and price was fair for the standard.

Despite the location opposite a busy central bus-station (during the day) the quality of the room and this small hotel was excellent. We had a very comfortable three night stay and were pleased to find a complementary hotel breakfast and underground parking facilities within a short walk.
