This was great place to stay, no screaming sring breakers. This is an adult oriented all inclusive hotel. The food was excenllent, you have to try the rotisserie chicken on the beach!

"HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 2, 2012
Wow! What an amazing time we had staying at the Royal Solaris!! We spent our 19th anniversary at this all inclusive resort for 4 days and never even had the slightest urge to go into town or leave the hotel. Friendly staff checked us in. They were knowledgeable, efficient, and there was no waiting. The Time Share lady who offered us a "quick tour" of the hotel but did not get pushy or upset when we told we just wanted to get to our room and then hit the beach. She asked that we come see her, but we never did and we never got bothered with Time Share talk the rest of the time. The multiple pools looked like lots of fun, but hey...we have a pool at home so we spent every waking minute at the beautiful beaches. The "vendors" walking up and down the beach were not pushy at all and after each one made their 1st pass/effort, they didn't bother us the rest of the day. Benjamin and Kike (pronounced kee-kay), were our beach waiters over the weekend and both of them were absolutely tremendous!! We could not have asked for a better experience. The room was clean, it had a comfortable bed, and plenty of water pressure for our showers. Oh...and pay the little extra to get the beach view room...spectacular views of the sunrise and gorgeous blue waters!!

I loved the hotel and the service is wonderful, however I was really disappointed in the beach. We had to travel to another Palace resort to swim in the ocean and take pictures. But that is my only complaint.

Fabulous Location, Beautiful Garden, Friendly Staff, Decent Rooms, Small Breakfast, Overall Great Value for the price!
"Good location"
I liked the location of the hotel. It has access to the beautiful Playa Norte in Isla Mujeres and it is located within walking distance to the market. Nice and quiet during the night. It is not a very fancy hotel, but it was clean and service was good. I enjoyed my stay and I have no complaints. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying at Isla […] Mujeres. Read more
"Would stay somewhere else"
From reading other reviews on this site, I feel like there may be a drastic difference in room types. My room felt dirty all 3 nights we stayed there. There were fleas and mosquitoes and a stain on my sheets. The water pressure in the shower was awful- I was barely able to wash my hair the whole time we were there. They advertised free wifi but it's […] not in your room but at the bar across from the hotel. And its very slow and hard to connect to. The one good thing about the room was the air conditioner. We asked for string so we could hang stuff from the clothes line hooks on the patio and were told we could get some in town. Nothing ever dried because we were in a ground floor back room (very shady). We could only get new beach towels every third day so we basically always had wet towels at the beach :/ "Continental breakfast" means toast, coffee, and OJ. I guess that's pretty standard but was pretty disappointing. The location is great and the beach is gorgeous. The hotel staff was very nice. There was an awesome dive shop (SeaHawk Divers) right across the way which was very convenient since we were mainly there to dive. I would be interested to know where the photos for the hotel rooms come from because our room looked nothing like that! If I were to come back, I would not stay at this hotel again. I would probably try another hotel in this same location (Na Balam or avalon reef club). Read more
"Simple Hotel with a Great View"
The hotel was simple and provided the basics. It is perfect if you want just the basics and want to get away from the resort type atmosphere. It was nice and quiet in the evenings and the only time I saw other guests was at breakfast. The breakfast was simple with coffee and toast but it was what I expected. The location of the hotel is what you are […] really paying for. It was never a hassle to go back to the hotel if I forgot something or wanted to take a shower after laying out or swimming in the water. The beach is perfect: not too crowded with beautiful water. The walk to Higaldo (where all of the restaurants are) is short and convenient. The hotel met my needs and I would stay there again, especially for the price. Read more

"Hotel Del Mar Island Mujeres"
To start off we stayed in the Cabanias which first of all they had us on the 2nd floor air was broken , toilet was broken so then I asked for a 1st floor as the steps were slippery due to sand, Which the room was so much nicer and a deck off of it with sliding doors , Room was clean, bed was made of platform wood . Had a nice private deck on 1st floor […] with sliding door and could see the ocean if you sat just right. Plenty of hot water to shower but the floor in bathroom always got wet needed a longer shower curtain. But really cant complain room was all done in white and 1 pic on wall so it felt fresh but could use a revamp of a few newer things since I dont think it was a budget saver room tv was small and dont switch off the fridge at the wall as we werent told about that so we had a few problems. We didnt hear neighbors it was nice and quite, Had nice chairs for deck which was nice as we didnt spend a lot of time in our room , Over all we will go back but wish they had a coffee maker we went and bought a small one for the mornings to sit outside on the deck patio. We also were good to the maid and left a few bucks daily they dont make much. Also used the pool was clean and warm. They also have a area by the pool with reading material...books, magizines so I left what I bought at the airport for others as its difficult to find things to read in English. This is our 8th trip to the Island our first to stay at the Del Mar and will be back close to everything to walk to and have a fun vacation we have stayed on the other side of the Island but had to rent a golf cart way to often and it was nice to walk around see the new things, try out the new bakery and have a morning bun and coffee, also the fish and chips new place, and the New York Deli , Also a must one of Vivs Cuban sandwiches and salads with the fried goat cheese always a treat and she moved on Hillargo . We rented golf carts a few days rent the new ones for $50 the 1957 chevys they have a lot more pick up a Read more

Cabanas Maria Del Mar was wonderful. We had a great room, very good service, good location and a very enjoyable stay. Thanks to Hotels.com we also had a great price. Looking forward to returning next year! Thanks to all the staff! Davis and Kay
"Isla Mujeres Vacation"
We spent six nights at the Cabanas Maria Del Mar March 3-10, 2012 and found it to be exactly what we expected. After reading the reviews it seems people expect a little much from this establishment. Our maid service was great, the free breakfast was toast, jam, peanut butter, coffee and juice in a wifi feet in the sand cafe w/caribbean view. It was […] very laid back, getting a coffee refill might take 5 min. Slow down, and enjoy. Our castle room had a king sized bed, tiny color TV, refrigerator, drinking water cooler in the hall. A couple of mornings we walked to the local market, where we had our choice of breakfasts that were large enough to split for 60 pesos ($5). All of the beach side restaurants and bars seem to rent chairs and umbrellas, but at Baalam Resort just up the beach the 120 peso charge ($10 for 2 chairs under a palapa) was waived when I purchased drinks. 3 drinks, oceanside palapa and chairs $8.00 for a margarita, pina colada and one beer. Seems fair to me. All in all a great week on a laid back mexican island. We were treated quite well, and really enjoy Isla ! Read more

"Awesome Stay"
If your looking for a nice hotel on the best beach in Isla Muyeres, this is it. The rooms are very sparcely decorated, but you'll be spending most of your time out doors. The staff was very friendly and took great care of all our needs, including arranging a car to pick us up at the airport. The only issue we had was with the hot water. It just takes […] a long time for it to get hot. We ended up taking luke warm showers, but that was a small issue. You can even rent golf carts right there at the hotes. This was the best way to get around the island. Definately will come back and stay here again! Read more
"Quick Getaway"
I was travelling alone wanted to be close to the beach. breakfast "buffet" is toast and coffee and juice. I was in the new tower room was basic but clean wifi only works in cafe
The bathroom could have been cleaned more properly,
"What we expected"
Hotel was what we expected, have been to the island several times. Buho, the restaurant very poor, don't advise eating there, but so many good choices within 2 or 3 blocks. I don't like having to pay for beach chairs, feel like that should be part of hotel charge. Would we stay here again, probably yes. Just don't expect a Holiday Inn, you have yo enjoy […] the adventure. Our neighbors room did have some mold on the wall by the patio door :( Read more
"Cabanas Maria del Mar, Isla Mujeres"
This hotel is on the north point of Isla Mujeres which means very pretty views but slighty windy beach days. The upside is that this wind seems to keep the mosquitos down. There really is nothing adjacent to the hotel other than the beach and a few beach bars, but it is a very short walk to the main tourist streets. The free breakfast consists of toast […] and weak coffee and the wifi doesn't reach the rooms. These inconveniences are very, very minor when compared to the beach in front which great and not very crowded. Read more

"Cabanas Maria del Mar"
The value of this hotel is its location. Steps from North Beach and an easy walk to the town center. Our room was very basic but clean and quiet. We thoroughly enjoyed this place and would definitely go back!
"the best"
we have been in many hotels in the area and have loved this one the best : relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and beautiful location. We will return.
"Cabanas Maria - location perfect"
If you're not an overfussy american, this place is perfect. Right on the best beach on the island. I could open my door , walk 100 feet and be in the Caribbean ocean. Front desk speaks enough english, but don't ask for anything complicated. They hand you keys and you have to figure out the rest. The housekeepers are great. Place is clean, beds are supportive […] , air-conditioning adequate -- I was happy. There is also an in-room safe. Read more

The room was clean, service friendly. It was better than I expected for the price and in a great location. I highly recommend renting a golf cart for a day and exploring the island!
"Cabañas Maria del mar"
Good location and hotel ok if you are not looking for luxury!!
"Isla Mujeres - Cabanas Maria del Mar"
Excellent location right on North beach, Beautiful garden courtyard, and discounted golf cart rates. I would recommend to friends and go back in a heartbeat. Water is bright blue and you can walk out about 300 yards before the water gets over 5' deep. Good snorkeling in nearby bay - 5 minutes away.
"Cabanas Maria Del Mar"
We had a wonderful time during our 5 days at MARIA DEL MAR. So unlike the reviews, the staff was most friendly and helpful. The hotel is in walking distance to the downtown shopping and restaurant area. The lush tropical grounds and pool are a relaxing, shaded place to relax. The free breakfast is toast, coffee & oj but for free & as reasonable as the […] rooms are, we could easily afford to upgrade our breakfast. Or, walk a few blocks to the grocery store & take some peanut butter with you! The pillows were quite hard but the aircondirioning kept the room quite cool at all times. There is a mini fridge but no microwave or blowdryer in the room so ladies, remember to bring your own blowdryers! Also, champagne is very difficult to find on the island so prepare to drink margueritas or mojitos! We are looking forward to our next stay at Cabanas Maria Del Mar! Read more
"Great Place silly Chair Policy"
Remember Seinfields Soup Naz....., well this great hotel has a very silly beach chair policy. Yep there is a little Chair Naz.... on the beach and and horrible fence that was not there 15 years ago when I stayed. They have nice Cabanas there are new to me and I loveeeeeeeeee the north beach. Be prepared to PAY ASAP, he tried to rangle me to pay for […] my friends and I say NO to the that. So we had a few leg wrestles over that but, I would just try to love him up with kindness and run to him with my $5 but alas he can't smile or be friendly. Why doesn't the hotel just increase their rates by $5 and allow everyone to have a beach chair, without Chair Naz... man. What a concept. I will stay again. Read more
"Cabanas Maria del Mar"
I don't think I can say enuf good things about this hotel..It is absolutely beautiful at its location! Beautiful flowers, plants, shrubs and trees surround you in tropical splendor. I stayed on the 2nd floor of the Tower section. The view from my balcony was superb. I overlooked coconut palms, white sand and the beauty of the scenery with a wonderful […] view of the North Beach. I was greeted every morning with the magnificently beautiful trilling of the birds which there are many at this location. They were the last relaxing thing I heard at the end of the day. The sunsets...what can I say? You will have the best view on the island and they are remarkable. I will have to download some to this website!! This was my first trip traveling alone and as a single woman in my mid 50's, it was very important to be and feel safe. I completely felt that! Both in the security of the hotel and my room. I stayed for 15 days and was treated wonderfully by the staff every day. Always with a smile and expediency to any question I might have. I worked with customers for 31 years and cust svc is very important to me. This team was the best! My room was very quaint, old world spanish. Refrig worked excellently. Air conditioner was a little noisy but I got used to that my first nite! It worked great the whole time so I can't complain. My maid staff was lovely and did a excellent job every day! Jose the bartender was sweet and great at his job!! He mixes an excellent Bloody Mary..his own recipe and a wonderful fresh Margarita. I took advantage of their Massage service and had one done down by the beach. 700 pesos/90 minutes You can't get anything near that price in Minnesota. I suggest you have it done if you go to this Hotel. I have never had a massage of this quality in my life and I have had them done by many professionals Medical companies in my life due to injury. I now know what a great massage should be. I wish I could fly down there every other week to have it done!! I can't say en Read more
Despite the not so good reviews, my experience at the hotel was amazing. The room was clean, AC was not that noisy, people were friendly and the beautiful beach was just steps away. I enjoyed the light breakfast as well. I would love to come back again.
"Cabanas Maria del Mar"
For the price this is an excellent option. It borders North Beach, so that is great and is a few blocks from the heart of town. The pool and grounds are in excellent shape. Wifi works great in lobby areas. Fridge in room, and water coolers throughout the property. The staff is helpful and friendly. Two cautions: You have to rent beach chairs, and that […] is a rip off. Breakfast is toast, juice and coffee, so dont count on that as a meal. Rooms could use some updating but are clean. Bottom line, for the money, I thought it worked out well. Overall a nice and quiet selection, without having to be in one of the high rise places, which are good if you like Cancun or Playa Del Carmen Read more

"Cabanas Maria del Mar in Isla Meujures"
This is a quiet, adobe style hotel located in the middle of the beautiful north beach area. It is quiet, traditional, very reasonable for the area. It has an outdoor restuarant and bar (beach sand floors, thatched roof, great bartender). This is a "shorts & tee shirts" type of place with ocean/beach views, incredible sunsets, and very laid back island […] living. Read more

"Cosy hotel on the beach!"
The beach is just 15m outside of the room door and it was pretty with the garden. The breakfast was only a toast with juice. Cosy little place next to a really nice beach. This could be a top resort if staff/management Put some effort in it. The breakfast included is a joke, Toilets not working and aircon from the 60's.
"Cabanas Maria del Mar"
The hotel was very nice, loved the garden with hammox and the beach was nice. The location was good: quiet and by the beach and only a short walk from the centre. The only thing I was dissappointed in was the poor breakfast (two slices of toast with marmalade, that's it).

"what a view!"
right on one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen, this little hotel was a great find... the locals were very eager to tell me that the owner has many hotels on the island but chooses to live in this one. I don't blame him. It's really cute & it's right on Playa Norte which looks like a deserted island beach... just gorgeous. "Beautiful and cheap"
I liked this place very much...it is quiet, in a beautiful place (even though Isla Mujeres wasn't as beatufiful as I expected) . I really appreaciated it.
"Nice hotel!"
Nice hotel and very good location facing the beach. Close to restaurants and small shops. The only negative was that the breakfast was very simple. 2 toasts, butter + marmelade, coffee and juice. Nice pool area in a green garden. I would recommend this hotel.
very unpolite receptionist
"Great spot by the North beach"
My two girlfriends and I got a room in one of the cabanas and were happy with the room. The two double beds were comfortable and the room was clean. We hardly spent time in the room and only used it for showers and to sleep in. The reason is because there's a beautiful white sandy beach located in front of the hotel and that's where we spent a lot of […] time in addition to exploring around the island. Another benefit to the location is that it is just a 3-minute walk to the "downtown" or central area where all the restaurants/shops are located at. We liked the convenience of having the beach by our door or the restaurants just a few blocks away. Breakfast is included in your room rate and you're served a simple meal of coffee/tea, juice, and two slices of toast. Internet is only available at the restaurant where breakfast is served so it is quite an inconvenience having to bring your laptop to the restaurant instead of accessing the wifi in your room. Overall, the hotel staff are really friendly and helpful. If you're on a budget and looking for a comfortable and clean place to stay, I'd strongly recommend this hotel. I know I will be back again for sure ;) Read more
