We had a pleasant stay at the Distinction Luxmore. The hotel is a convenient location near restaurants, cafes, the supermarkets, and souvenir shops near the center of Te Anau. I had even made an error in my booking date due to some last minute rescheduling of our travel itinerary and the hotel was happy to just alter my reservation since they had availability […] even though I had booked through hotels.com. The room was generally clean , though the bathroom had a musty smell to it and the shower curtain did have what appeared to be mildew stains. We were too tired to ask to be moved to another room after a full day of driving but if anyone runs into this problem it might be worth it to ask the front desk to switch them to a different room. The greatest aspect of this hotel room was the vanity. After traveling many days and hotel hopping, I loved that I could sit at my own vanity, away from the bathroom, to do my hair and makeup. Very nice, clean hotel in a great location. We really enjoyed our stay. The only issue we had was that we used one of their dryers that charges $3/load and when we collected our clothes they were not dry at all. Reception had closed and the dryers were no longer available. It was really frustrating. But the hotel otherwise was fantastic.

Having read a range of opinions about this hotel, I was completely satisfied with everything about it: good location, spacious and pleasant room; convenient laundry; helpful staff, and good price. The only complaint was 30 minutes of very slow free internet from the lobby, and a slightly sticky door. Overall, I would stay there again very happily.

This hotel was really nice. It was right next to the RealJourneys building, for convenient access to the tours, and was within a 10 minute walk to the big grocery store in town. The staff was super-nice, and the room was pretty reasonably priced. Very clean, too! Overall, a great experience.

Everything was great. Wished they had balconies though. Best food in New Zealand at the restaurant associated with the hotel. The lamb was fantastic as was the mushroom chicken. Te Anu is a beautiful little town.

We got confused and booked the wrong distinction hotel. This one is like staying at a motel 6, in respect to the rooms. The staff was not very helpful, the person we interacted with a couple of times and asked for advice had no clue about what there was to do or where to grab a bite to eat... his response came across as just go out to the street and […] figure it out. There is another Distinction hotel that is completely updated...but this is not that one! The rooms looked like they hadn't been updated since the 70's. The room and hotel common areas were clean. A little overpriced for what you get.

We stayed in a superior room but the only thing superior was the size. The decor is 70s style yellow-lacquered furniture, not at all what you'd expect for its rating. The worst part though was the noise we'd get when our neighbors turned on their shower or bathroom faucet. Room was a homage to yellow Formica otherwise comfortable and clean. Good location but very large and popular for large groups. Wifi in reception did not work when we needed it but was working earlier.

Old fashioned and in need of an update. Our family had shared bathroom which was OK but lacked space and exhaust fans so was always fogged up and moist. No wi-fi in rooms which is important these days and espacially when rained in TV channels also light on.

Travelled with family (kids aged 2 & 5). room was more than fine for the price of the room. Next to play park, shopping area & Redcliff cafe (which had raving reviews, i was expecting best meals in NZ, i wouldn't put it in that area, but it was fresh & above average + great area for the kids). Would be happy to stay there again.

There was a bit of a smell in the hotel but otherwise the staff were helpful and there was a carpark to park your car. I stayed in a standard room. It was nothing too fancy but it was alright considering the amount paid for it.
