      We liked the place and the price was right. We liked the kitchenette and the guest laudry. The hotel is on a busy street, but the room itself was quiet.

      In our three-week stay in NZ, we only stayed here 2 nights but thought it was the best accomodations and value we had. It's an excellent location in Christ Church. Easy walk to city center and botanic gardens. Our room was extremely modern and clean with a great, well-equiped kitchen. Lots of free perks like laundry use, breakfast of cereal and milk, wifi and parking. The building is charming and well landscaped. We stayed in newer units that had been added to grounds of a historic mansion.

      We only stayed for one night and the hotel arranged to leave the door open for us, as our flight was arriving very late at night. The location is not bad and the stay was trouble-free throughout.

    The facility was great, our family of 4 had the 3 bedroom apartment which was extremely comfortable. It is also in the edge of a lovely park which we... enjoyed running in. The problem with the motel is its location. If you don't have a car don't stay there! There is nothing within walking distance to eat or even go buy food.     Response by Chardonnay Motor Lodge Our motel is rated 4 star plus by QUALMARK, an independent quality assurance body and is described by them as "Excellent - consistently achieves high quality levels". I am very sorry if the guests found the barbecue dirty - occasionally I miss cleaning up after other guests have used it. We have recently added a request to guests to clean the barbecue after each use. If the guest had only mentioned it to me, I would have been only too happy to clean it. Our motel is only 10 years old, and has recently been repainted inside, and new flat screen TVs added. We take great pride in our motel, and this is backed up by the large number of repeat guests we have to stay, and their positive comments about our facilities, grounds, service etc.

    Chardonnay is an above average drive in motel, but it is a long way from any facilities if you don't have a car. It offers a free airport shuttle, but you need to check the operating times. The Motel is in a pleasant leafy environment with nice walks and a park nearby.
