Very nice hotel- good service, huge rooms at the excellent price we got We happened to be there on the night of a large party with loud music and I was worried about sleeping, but even though the room looked out into the courtyard, I could barely hear the music, even with open windows.

Stayed at the hotel the night before a wedding. The room was huge! It was clean and functional. Not luxury but was fine for what I needed and the price I paid. The hotel manager was very friendly and helpful. There was free wifi included but couldn't connect to the network. Overall I'd say its a functional hotel and was perfect for what I needed.

got to the hotel around 3pm, on check in I was given my key card and room number, I had to ask for details on everything else, i.e. is there a bar? if so where? where is the breakfast room? what time is breakfast from?is there a gym? where? do you have wifi in the rooms, is there a password/cost? etc etc etc! poor service!!! then to top it off, I came […] down at 3:30 to have a drink at the bar, only to find out there is no one to serve you till 6pm!!! and no food in restaurant till 7pm! and was told there are other places to eat / drink 6miles down the road if I didn't want to wait till 6pm. I only stayed here one night whilst attending an event in Langho. Location was easy to find, service was quick, staff very helpful. I didn't dine in the restaurant , but buffet breakfast next morning was more than adequate and plenty of attentive staff on hand to assist. My Junior Suite was huge with the added bonus of french windows leading to a pleasant […] grassy area from which the distant hills could be seen. To be hyper-critical, there were just a few little details that had got missed - a rogue cobweb, 2 broken wall sockets, a broken pencil on the kindly provided notepad, and a few more sugar sachets would have been nice. we booked 5 rooms in total 3 double and 2 twins as we were attending a family wedding in Waddington 8 miles away. all of the rooms were very very clean and comfortable with a seating area, changing/dressing room area and good size bathroom. It was unfortunate that I was checked into a room in which the key card wouldn't work. Walked back to reception to get it changed and then found the card worked but my allocated room wasn't ready - it looked someone had just left - even the bathroom light was still on. The hotel had good facilites with gym,pool and sauna. I didn't use the restaurant as it was expensive. My suite was excellent with plenty of space and views of the private garden with calming fountain. The staff were very attentive and professional. We have just returned from spending two nights at this hotel. Firstly, I have to say that we got what we felt like was a good deal, so we don't feel too unhappy about our experience. The staff were superb thorughout our stay, very friendly, helpful and attentive. Our room was a really decent size, with a seperate area for dressing and getting ready. […] The bed was the most comfortable bed that we have ever slept in, when away from home. Having said all that, the cleanliness of the room left much to be desired. As a rule we are not over fussy and can overlook minor issues, but the bathroom was very dusty and the bins in the bathroom and changing area hadn't been emptied from previous occupants and the bathroom didn't appear to have been cleaned at all.... All that said it was still ok. However, the most disappointing part of our break was that we had booked here specificly for the pool and sauna, for some much need relaxation and rest, but were unable to use the facilities because we felt that it was really dirty and unhygienic and tired looking and we could not bring ourselves to get in the pool or use the changing facilities and like I said i dont consider myself to be too fussy, so it must have been poor for us not use it at all, which is a shame. The staff are THE major asset in this hotel, which made what could have been an awful stay to a pleasant stay. Read more

Sadly we had a terrible experience in this hotel. The manager was away, so the staff were treating the hotel as a social club, in which we felt intruders. The room was superficially clean (bathroom was clean and shower good), but furniture was grubby, and the bed tired. Sheets were clean, and TV a good-sized flat screen. Our main concern was that […] electrical equipment was last tested over 3 years previously, and some sockets were only partially working. This may have accounted for the fire alarm being tripped. None of the staff were aware of the fire drill, and no head count was taken. The staff openly admitted that only the manager knew the fire drill and he was absent. As a result we left after the first night of our stay. On a positive note, the Leisure Club manager was polite and as helpful as she could be, and Hotels.com Customer Services achieved what we could not in terms of prompting a partial refund and asking the hotel to review safety procedures. Hopefully the planned upgrade/refurbishment will address these issues, but in the meantime I would suggest you look elsewhere in the Ribble Valley. Read more

I stayed with a friend at the Mercure Blackburn Ribble Valley as a stop off point on route from Scotland to Devon. The hotel isn’t far from the motorway so it seemed a nice place to stop. The room was large if a little dated and run down but it was very comfortable. My issue with the hotel was when we came to check out, we were charged 95 pence for […] a phone call we never made. In today’s world when we all have mobile phones, why would I choose to use a hotel phone? We explained this to the manager but were told there was nothing she could do, the system had recorded it so we had to pay it. While we are only talking about 95 pence, it is more the principal than the money. No one likes the feeling of being charged for something they didn’t use. Due to this I wouldn’t stay in this hotel and wouldn’t recommend it. Read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the size and comfort of my room, which had very comfortable seating and large bathroom and dressing areas.
