Riverdale Inn - Jacksonville

The Riverdale was amazing. Excellent service, comfortable bed, hot shower, and delicious breakfast. I loved the book shelves on the second floor to give more of a homely feel to the place. My ONLY complaint; and to some it might be a positive, was that the wooden floors creaked a lot.

Riverdale is charming and wonderful! Eric and Lola greeted us and made us feel welcome immediately! The amenities were great, and had the feel of staying with family. Carolyn cooked us a delicious breakfast. No complaints about anything!!

This was a perfect stay for me. In the middle of a stress-filled business trip, I walked through the door and was immediately transported to my childhood - staying at my grandmother's house. Our stay at the Riverdale Inn was excellent. We were in town for the Gator Bowl, and were very pleased with this charming alternative to the main hotels downtown. The Riverdale Inn was less expensive than the hotels recommended by our school, but probably nicer and still very convenient. During the day, we could easily walk to the Landing for the Gator […] Bowl pep rally and other alumni festivities. At night, it was a short cab ride. There were also some decent restaurants about 2 blocks from the Inn as well. The stadium was also a short cab ride away. I would have given the Inn 5 stars in all categories, but the first night we did get a little chilly in our room and could not find an extra blanket or way to turn on the heat. Otherwise, it was perfectly lovely. I would also say that it would have been nice to have shuttle access like the chain hotels, but of course you sacrifice things like that when you opt for a B&B. The owners/ staff were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was excellent. We had a great time, and will definitely stay here again if we visit Jacksonville. Read more

Riverdale was in a quiet, artsy neighborhood. the Inn is charming and has historical cache. The dual neighborhoods of Riverdale/Avondale offer a lot of choices for meals (We ate at The Brick in Avondale and liked it so much we went back the next night!) and activities. The room was very comfortable, the staff very helpful. Breakfast is made to order from about 5 choices, and the dining room is a quiet comfortable restaurant setting so we ate at our private table, not with other people we did not know. If you are anywhere in the Jacksonville area I hope you will try Riverdale Inn.

We went to Jacksonville to see the Gator Bowl and take in the nearby sights, like the Cummer Museum. The Riverdale Inn is a beautiful Victorian house with a carriage house. The owner, Bob, was very friendly & helpful, as was all the staff. We would definitely stay at Riverdale Inn next time we travel to Jax.

We loved the decor, small dining spot, and comfortable seating in the the room. The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens was a few -blocks away. It was a delight. The kids section was great. We needed our grandkids with us so we would not look so silly as we enjoyed it. We happened on the Art Market under the bridge Saturday event. This is a charming small hotel buily in the early 1900s. It is about 20 minutes walk from the city (along a very pleasant riverside path) or a 5 minute taxi ride so very convenient. The house has been beautifully restored with period furniture which give it a lovely atmoshere. We booked in anticipation of a boutique, friendly environment but found the owners attitude to off hand. There was no feeling of being welcome at their place as would be our expectation at a hotel of this type. Upon arrival there was reluctance to have luggage brought in, the suggestion was to only bring essentials for the night. The requirement to […] vacate the room by 11.00 am was stressed for the convenience of staff. There was only one other guest staying but my wife was not granted an extension of only one hour which would have been appreciated whilst she waited on the verandah for my return from a meeting.. This hotel had a 4.5 star rating. This is a gross misrepresentation, based on our experience we would rate it as 3 star. Service close to non existent and hospitality skills totally lacking.
