"Awesome one-night stay!"

All the positive reviews of Glendeven are well deserved. The grounds were immaculate, the staff was extremely attentive, positive and pleasant, and the breakfast was fantastic. We stayed in the Eastlin suite which has the hidden door that breakfast is served through and it was spotless and charming. We also chose the meal served across the road at Bistro 150 with wine pairing which was very reasonably priced and delicious. All the food prepared has to be sourced from within 150 miles of the restaurant, hence the name. we were seated farmhouse style with 10 other people and had a wonderful couple of hours chatting and eating a wonderful meal. The area around the inn has lots of different trails that you can explore and there are plenty of other activities to keep you busy as you want to be. We are already thinking of when we can return to the Glendeven but the next time will be for more than one night. Fantastic!

We had a great time staying at the Glendeven. We stayed in the Carriage House, and enjoyed the spaciousness and privacy. Dinner at Bistro 150 was delicious, although we would have preferred a private table.
"Perfect romantic weekend stay"

My wife and I had the most perfect weekend here. We stayed in the Bayview suite which was extraordinary. Staff is friendly, breakfast is delicious, and the grounds are awesome. The location could not be better as there are amazing state parks and the beautiful little town of Mendocino all minutes away. There are wonderful hikes, short or long, all nearby. We live in faraway New Jersey so we are not around the corner but can't wait to return someday!

Stayed at the Carriage House Years Ago and Had a Beautiful Anniversary . This Year We Returned For Our 15th Anniversary & Stayed In The Beach House for the Weekend. And again We Were Very Happy With Glendeven . The only regret was there were no screens on any windows . So we were unable to Open the windows due to the pesky Mosquitos .

I have never been to Mendocino and so first of all, if you're reading this thinking of going- GO RIGHT THIS INSTANT . So gorgeous. And Glendeven is heaven. (I've been dying to write that) Great location, tranquil, clean, and the food is the epitome of farm to table. I mean, the breakfast alone is like non other. They do not serve farm fresh eggs- they serve GLENDEVEN Fresh Eggs! (with the funkiest looking chickens I've ever seen- not that I've seen that many... but a few had mohawks!) And they made this poached pear with home-made oatmeal granola and warm berry compote that just made the whole trip worth it. And the staff was helpful and sweet. They gave us precise information about which hike was best for us due to our time constraints and the time of day, they booked a kayak trip for us, gave us advise on where to dine and where shop for local plants and even called ahead to a local spa to make sure they had appointments avail. And the Inn is so lovely. We spent a ton of time seeing the flower and vegetable gardens, chickens and freakin' Llamas too! The grounds are beautiful and the rooms have a personal touch without being cloying like some B&Bs. I can't wait to go back. It, honestly, made me want to move there! PS- did I mention I spent a fortune in the gift shop buying a cool light fixture, awesome cook books, local wines AND the best... a set of their super comfy bed linens. Yeah, 5 stars, fo sho.
"Relaxing, peaceful farm on the coast"

Upon pulling into the parking lot, we're greeted with a parking spot with our name on it, nice touch. At check-in, we were given chicken feed, another neat little feature. Checking in was a breeze and we stayed in the farmhouse, in the Bayview room. We had an awesome view of the ocean and one of the two llama pastures from our balcony. In the farmhouse common room there are two different kinds of cookies, rice crispy treats and unlimited coffee and tea; all for free. There is a computer if you want to use it, as well as board games, a refrigerator and microwave. Some of the chickens are free to walk around the grounds, while others are in pens. What is really cool is that you're free to walk into the chicken pens and llama pastures. Chickens will mob you for that chicken feed, while llamas just casually walk away from you. The grounds and features were all awesome! Breakfast is served to you in your room every morning at 9:00am. One day was awesome and the other day consisted of amazing quiche, lemon cake and apple crumble. I was a little disappointed that two desserts were served for breakfast one day. The fireplace has a ready to start firewood & kindling in it and they remake it for you everyday. The shampoos and bar soap both smelled really good. They have happy hour with a free glass of wine and a free small appetizer. The appetizer is very small, but they give you a full glass of wine! One day the server came around and asked us if we wanted a second glass for free. Overall I have great things to say about this place! It is a little expensive, but everything was so great it made it worth it.
"Nice place but watch out they don't overcharge you..."

I recently stayed at Glendeven Inn. The accommodations were nice, as was the breakfast, but the staff overcharged me for the room. I had a gift certificate for $165 off the cost of the room. When I reserved I was charged the $277 for the night's stay. When I got there the staff initially told me that the gift certificate was only good for $130. Then they charged me an additional $94 for the room. So, I was charged over $370 for the room for the night. To top it off, I was told that I would receive $165 credit, but my card account had no information regarding that. When I asked about the charges and the lack of refund, the response was that they forgot to charge me for a glass of wine, so an additional $9 would be charged to my account. This is a nice place, but there are a number of nice places to stay on the coast that don't screw up like this...

The Inn and its accommodations were a pure delight-scenic, serene, highly functional. We stayed in a beautifully appointed room complete with the softest bed linens and matelasse covers and shams which we sank into each night. Some detailed highlights: a working gas fireplace-which I actually prefer since you don't have to fuss and there are no burn emissions; view of the llamas and the Pacific and a glory of bird watching all day; walks down to the beach and into the woods via marked paths; wine and appetizer hour for guests; excellent recommendations from staff for nearby dinner options; impeccably cared for and manicured gardens and grounds. I booked a massage one day and the proprietor walked me over to the cabin and made sure the space was prepared for my comfort and arrival. That is the epitome of attention to detail and I was not only pleased but impressed. The masseuse who was called in was top notch and delivered one of the best massages I've had in years. We enjoyed our stay and wish we had a few more days there.

Beautiful grounds, beautiful views, scrumptious breakfast. When I walked into the room in which I Stayed, Ettas Suite, I almost cried, it was so incredible. My view included a bird feeder replete with stellars jays, acorn woodpeckers and blue jays. All around the base were doves, quail and assorted tweets birds on clean up duty. Beyond that were six llamas and assorted chickens. Dimention the view of the ocean beyond all of that... simply incredible. Breakfast was delivered every morning promptly at 9. It was a a special treat I had saved for all year, and it was worth every penny. A relaxing respite away from it all. I highly recommend.

This inn is the epitome of barnyard chic. You've got chickens and llamas in a farmhouse setting (and the grounds are immaculate, with a lot of beautiful flora and fauna), but with all sorts of chic little perks: terrific robes in the rooms, sherry available, organic beauty products, delicious home-baked snacks, and your own fireplace already stocked with wood and paper, waiting to be lit (!). The breakfast is lovely: we were given biscuits, an egg and veggie bake/scramble, and a yogurt parfait and fresh juice and coffee, all delivered to the room in a charming basket. This private element is a really nice touch, particularly if (like us), you don't enjoy the large group setting for breakfast. Having a nearby path that led to the water was an enormous perk -- we enjoyed a nice, long walk on the ocean cliffs. Gorgeous. Also, the inn is very close to Mendocino, so don't let that deter you from staying here. The only critique I have is that the young man who checked us in seemed somewhat frosty at first, as though he was surprised to see us, and we had to wait for a few minutes for the check-in area to open even though we were there on time. He warmed up after a minute or so and it was no matter to us, ultimately, but this might rub some people the wrong way.
