My wife and I had a wonderful time staying at the Inn. The rooms are very spacious and well decorated. Our view of the coast from the Gerret Room was spectacular.
Breakfast in our room was an added bonus with farm fresh eggs and ingredients. Afternoon wine tasting and a nosh is very relaxing and we met and talked with some wonderful guests.
Be sure to say hello to the Llamas when you are there.
This is the second time we have stayed at Gleneven Inn. The first time we had a farm to table dinner with 5 other couples we didn't know and had a wonderful evening. Our stay this time was shorter, only one night but to get a "welcome back" note in your room says a lot about client focus of this wonderful B&B. We don't stay anywhere else because it is quite and a short twenty minute walk to a totally secluded beach. We will be back. Also if you are crazy about exotic chickens, well you will be in heaven. They are on the property with the five llamas.
By the time we booked the room, only the Garden and Pinewood rooms were available, so we chose the Pinewood and were not disappointed.
Breakfast: We liked that it was delivered right to the room in a cute basket. There was plenty of food, as it was a 3-course delight with a fruit course, egg course, and bread course. The fresh squeezed orange juice was also delicious.
Room: Pinewood was quite spacious at over 500 sq ft. It has a very cozy feel, with a wood burning fireplace, daybed, and woodsy decorations throughout. Across the entryway of the room is a shared room with a large fridge and microwave. The main negative with this room is that you can hear your neighbors upstairs walking around and talking. I'm a light sleeper so I brought earplugs, which helped a lot, and my partner who can sleep through anything didn't mind. Also, with the fog, it was hard to see the ocean in the distance, but we did have a nice view of the llamas in the pastures. In any case, we would definitely choose this room again.
Wine Hour: From 5:30-6:30pm, we were treated to a generous wine pouring and a gourmet snack in the main building (we especially like the butternut squash soup).
Big thanks to the innkeepers who drew us a map to see baby seals along the coast. If in season (we went in May), you just have to cross the street and follow a trail to reach a cliff overlooking the seals. We saw a total of 8 seals lounging on a large rock, and 2 more seals playing in the water. The innkeeper also drew us a map to get to various restaurants in Mendocino, which was very helpful, considering the lack of cell phone reception in the area.
Even though it was about a 4-hour drive from the SF bay area, it was well worth it. The trip was very relaxing, and the innkeepers were fabulous at making everything go smoothly.
What an amazing little gem of a bed and breakfast establishment! With only 10 rooms at this quaint get-a-way, you can be assured that no small detail is over looked. This is definitely the place you wish you didn't have to check out of. The Briar Rose suite was spectacular with its amazing views and fire place.
I stumbled upon this amazing oceanside farm. The innkeepers are gracious and meticulous. The rooms are beautifully decorated and immaculate. I was traveling alone and felt comfortable and secure roaming the beautifully landscaped grounds. The farm to table breakfast was delicious and delivered right to my room! I have already told many friends about this little gem and I most certainly will be back.
There was nothing I would have changed about our time at Glendeven Inn, apart from wishing we could have stayed longer. With a beautiful location and nearby walks to the beach and headland, friendly welcome and service, well-appointed rooms with great views, it’s an ideal place for a get-away. This was our second visit and I hope we’ll be back again.
Attention to detail abounds at the Glendeven Inn. An assigned parking spot sporting a "Welcome" sign w/ our last name, a welcome & enjoy your stay note with two freshly made brownies on the breakfast table in our room, EO organic bath products, French press coffee along with delicious cookies available in the farm house living room, wine hour in the afternoon...it goes on & on! The grounds are beautiful. We stayed in East Farmington and it was our own little private oasis...our deck looked out onto the edibles garden, one of the Lama pastures, and a clear view to the ocean off in the distance, we watched hummingbirds waltz around the magnificent dahlia's landing on the fence wire for a moments rest, after walking the property I believe our room was the most private! A most delicious breakfast was delivered to our room in a large basket: fresh squeezed OJ, spinach quiche, apple crisp, coffee and fresh croissants "to die for " we spent 10 days in Paris at the beginning of the month and these croissants were better than any we had there!!!!!!! The list is long on why you should stay at the Glendeven Inn should you find yourself in the Mendocino area!!
We stayed a week over mother's day in the lovely Beach Trail Cottage. From our arrival to departure we felt gently pampered and fully relaxed. The Beach trail cottage is perfect for a couple or even two couples or a family. It is situated with a view of the bay and a natural forest. We loved the fireplace and hearing the ocean at night. The hosts were attentive and welcoming. Each night commenced with a complementary aperitif at the WineBar(n) after which we proceeded to finalize our dinner plans. We highly recommend the afternoon tea service, served on bone china with delectable teas and locally baked macaroons. The B&B is within a quick drive to Mendocino city and to some fantastic beaches and hiking trails. We were thoroughly relaxed and refreshed at the end of our stay.
Our first stay at Glendeven Inn and loved it! Best first impression - a parking spot with our name on it for the entire stay! The grounds are filled with blooming flowers! The Bayview room was so quaint and we loved sitting out on the balcony with the Pacific Ocean in full view! The staff was outstanding! The delivered-to-the-room breakfast was beautifully served and tasty! The Wine Bar(n) wine-and-appetizer happy hour was generously served by welcoming staff in a room filled with lovely artwork! At any time you can help yourself to cookies, warm beverages, and sherry, too! The chickens and llamas --- where can you see those every morning?? We took a lovely walk out to get a closer view of the ocean. It was as described - 20 minutes and easy! The view was the best we saw along the Mendocino coast. This is a very quiet place, great for a romantic getaway and no TV - and that's a positive comment! Highly, highly recommend!
A delightful inn situated on a small farm just down the road from historic Mendocino. Great attention is paid to every detail to make sure guests are made to fell welcome and comfortable. We will be back!
