Ameristar Casino Hotel Council Bluffs

Hotel was VERY clean, our room, right across from the elevator, was quiet. The furniture and fixtures were new, the drapes and carpets were very clean. A bit of a cigarette smell in the air carried upstairs from the casino, but very light. Loved it!

Place to close 2 cig. smoke. BAD for allergies! View kinda ok It is close to steak +Lube rest. kids luv this rest. close to imax, + Kids Quest WONDERFUL! !Lots of OLDER Folks ,not to many children. Mostly adequate. Nice hotels in the area for much less $, which provide shuttle service, but okay if you want to be right in the casino. The Buffet was pricey, but surprisingly worth it. Disappointed we had 2 queens instead of king we were sold & wanted. Room view was okay - ask for Omaha/river side view if you have an option. Connected to the Holiday […] Inn & shares pool with them. Not much difference, less $. Also Hampton is in the parking lot of this hotel w/ free breakfast, less $. We walked through both, just as clean and good condition. Read more

The room was clean, bed was comfy and cool, and the staff was helpful and bright. Being onsite at the casino is a huge plus. We were there on July 4th, and had a fabulous view of the fireworks from the Ameristar parking garage. The only downside was, our room was a little noisy. We found a large bug in one of the beds in the room. The hotel sent up a staff to change the sheets, but it took awhile and it was very late at night, which was not ideal.

Went to Omaha for week-long family vacation. Not much for gambling, and traveled with two young children (8 & 10).Chose this property because of price and online reviews. Just wanted basic but nice hotel. Ameristar was great facility. Clean, mostly quiet, Kids Quest - onsite child care was highlight for our kids - they didn't want to leave and you can't […] get a better recommendation than that! Had a couple of odd things happen - TV stopped working, room safe wouldn't open, but staff was very responsive and pleasantly worked to quickly resolve issues. Left a kid's t-shirt in the room and received a call from housekeeping the next day and received t-shirt in mail in three days - never had service like that before! Food okay, nothing spectacular but good value for the money. Great location for exploring Omaha - easy access to I-80, zoo, Stormchasers, downtown, SAC museum, restaurants and shopping, etc. Concerns others voiced about smoking very overstated - a little smoky at elevator bank, but to be expected at a casino. Great value for the deep discounted price we paid. Did not eat or gamble so can't speak to that at the Hotel. Lobby and room deserved the 4 star rating. Parked in outside lot away from other cars because the parking ramp seemed cramped and I had a newer car. We read other reviews about the smoke issue, so we knew about that going in. Yes, it was very smoky in the casino itself, but we didn't have any issues in our room or other parts of the hotel. I guess smoking and gambling are too tightly coupled. Overall we enjoyed our stay. We were in the area for a graduation and not to gamble, so I wouldn't call […] it a vacation destination. We ate at Bella's quite often. The food was good, the portions were generous, the people were friendly and the prices were reasonable. Definitely check them out! The smell of smoke in the lobby was, well, unexpected. I didn't know smoking was allowed. We are not gamblers so we didn't go in the casino. We didn't use the restaurants because of the smell of smoke that permeated the public areas. The room was great and there was no smell. The staff was friendly. Front desk personnel not happy. No tissue or towels in the room. Asked for towels, got them the next morning. Asked front desk at checkin for wake up call - never happened. We reserved a king non smoking room, however, when we got there the person checking us in said they only had a handicap room with two queen beds available. It worked out fine but I didn't like the idea of taking up a handicap room when there could have been someone who needed it. The casino boat itself is dark, and dirty appearing. The room was very smokey even for a non smoking. Had to turn the TV up to 90 to hear it. Room book didn't list hours, foods and prices of restaurants at establishment. Plus the room book binder was broken. The pillows and bed were good.

Personally i feel you can't go wrong with this hotel. Dispite being across the river from omaha they have a 24 hour courtesy shuttle that will take you anywhere downtown at any time and come get you when you want them too. Plus they had plenty of eating options right on the property. Room was okay, nothing special. A few maintenance issues, but so minor […] didn't even bother the front desk with them. We did not get the room that we reserved, the check in process was very complicated. Had wanted an early check in, that did not happen. Awake at 4am by noisy next door guests. Front Desk staff needs more training. You should make every quest feel like they are the only guests, not just special groups. We were given a handicap room,, which you should always save for the very last room to rent, in case you have a guest with special needs. The rooms at this hotel were great except the beds were really hard. I was looking forward to a really good night's sleep as this was the first time away from our new baby. I haven't slept for eight hours straight in six months and I still haven't. And the hotel reeked of cigarette smoke but thank goodness the rooms didn't.

Our room was very nice, looked like it had been updated, was clean, quiet, had a view of the river and the city skyline (Omaha). About the only down side of the hotel is the smell of stale cigarette smoke. apparently Iowa allows smoking in the casinos, but you'd think a better ventilation system would reduce the odor. We had a short wait for rooms to be ready before we could check in. But it was the weekend for Nebraska state wrestling tournament so we understood the hold up on rooms. The entire hotel reeks of smoke. My non-smoking room was nice enough, and the staff was pleasant if not exceptional, but just walking into the lobby made me gag. The workout facilities were small and cramped, and the pool was overrun with unsupervised adolescents. I will not stay there again. A very unpleasant week for me.
