By no means is Hotel Stay Centre-ville a glamour hotel, but neither does it purport to be nor is priced as such. What you do get is a fantastic hotel for its level, well-maintained and clean rooms, and excellent service (perhaps the selling point of this hotel). I had actually made a reservation at the Hotel Stay Mont Royal but due to an overbooking […] was moved to the sister premises at Centre-ville - a minor inconvenience to start with but one which worked out in the end for all of the above reasons, plus the convenience of the location. Perhaps the only negative I would draw on is the small size of the rooms (and bathrooms), however as someone who used the hotel room as a base to sleep in and not really to relax in it was adequate. I would definitely consider returning and would definitely recommend for those who are budget conscious and wishing to stay in good quality basic accommodation in a convenient location. Read more

Well, the location of this hotel is very good. The people are very nice, it is a family owned business. But the rooms are very small, their conditions are bad, the mattresses are bad, the rooms don't have their own washroom. No bath available. I think that I can get better for the price I paid

This is a great alternative to the over-priced hotels in the city. It's more like a European hostel than a hotel, with a bathroom down the hall. But it was always open whenever I wanted to use the bathroom or shower. The neighborhood is fantastic, with lots of great places to eat. I stayed at the hotel because I didn't want to pay a lot of money and I was very pleased by the location, the friendly welcome, the cleanliness and the spacious room. Toilet & shower are outside of the room, but there is a sink in the room, so it's perfect! I highly recommend it! Hotel is located right next to subway station. Room was quiet except for a bit noisy A/C. Breakfast was not very diverse but on the other hand there is a cafe with excellent food right next to the hotel. Only minor disadvantage was shared bathroom/toilet but if you are okay with using those then this Hotel is your choice.

Very basic accommodations in French area. Convenient location on the Plateau, lots of restaurants, boutiques, book stores, etc. Near the mountain, McGill University, Parc Lafontaine. Hotel Stay Mont Royal is great for travelers on a budget. It is situated in a good area and extremely close to the Metro. Within walking distance is Rue Denis with great shopping and eating as well as Mont Royal. The room was clean but very basic. Exactly where we wanted to be in Montreal on the plateau, so perfect for us, and the price is right. It's not the Fairmont - but it's cute, clean and cheap and works for showering and sleeping.

My girlfriend and I had a very pleasant stay here. No private bathrooms but each room has a sink. The breakfast is good and the rooms are very modern and clean. For the price it is more than worth it. Because it is small, there is often no one at the desk. If you are with yourself it's an option to go and stay there but I do not suggest it for families. Rooms are small, bathrooms are shared. The location is good, it's in front of a metro station and has access to a lot of restaurants. Personals are friendly.

the hotel is difficult to gain access to - as per an earlier reviewer - entrance door is locked and despite ringing the bell numerous times, no one opened it - was just lucky that some happened to leave. Also you are required to pay a security/incidentals deposit and sign a contract written only in French - the man at the desk was very pleasant and […] helpful but only spoke a smattering of both French and English. Room was clean and pleasant - fairly quiet too and a good location. Breakfast was supposed to be at 8.30am but was all put out before 7.45 with a good selection of coffee, juice, pastries, fruit and yoghurt. My only problem was that there was not a staff member to be seen, nor a bell to get their attention when I had to leave at 8am and therefore was not able to get my deposit back (as I had a flight to catch) I await their response to my email. I've tried various budget hotels in Montreal, and this is by far the best overall. The location is great - metro next door, bus to airport two metro stops away, great night and day life all around you. Some other reviewers have suggested that the staff are not helpful, or have poor language skills. I found the staff really good - positive and helpful. […] Their English and French may be limited, but more than adequate for the sort of conversation you want! This is not the sort of hotel where there is continual and attentive service - but for me this was not a problem at all. My room was carefully serviced each day. The toilets and showers were cleaned regularly and efficiently. I didn't want any more service. The room was furnished throughout with IKEA units. These were in pretty good repair. Cable TV was available in the room. The washbasin had ample hot and cold water. There are no en-suite rooms - but seriously, what do you expect at this price? Wifi internet (fast and reliable) is available at no charge. You can also log on to the unsecured network from the café downstairs if you want. A free self-service breakfast is available each morning. In theory, this is only from 0800 to 1000. In practice, I found the food was put out by 0715 and the drinks machine switched to free dispense at the same time. Breakfast is basic - but if good quality coffee or hot chocolate, along with croissants and a couple of other types of pastry, as well as yoghurt and apples/bananas, is enough for you you can eat what you want. I had enough each morning to last me through to the early evening, and I tended to take the food and drink back to my room and eat there while catching up on email etc. I has a noisy neighbour one evening, and the street noise is inevitably present. As described on the package - basic, clean, comfortable. Bed was very good. Showers and shared washrooms clean. Owners very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting cheap and cheerful accommodation.

The double bed was quite small, and sort of a cheap. Friendly staff, but the problem they did not speak English nor french, which was kind of weird as Montreal is a french speaking area. Overall it's near the main road for cafe and resto.

The location was wonderful. Front desk was helpful. room was OK nothing special but it does have a fridge which is good. Only disadvantage was the shared washroom at hallway and no control on the heating system which becomes pretty warm at night making you sweat.

It is a good hotel but it is a bit annyiong that the staff doesnt speak any english at all, but spanish!! (they are still very friendly trying to help you!!). But it is just over a street from the subway and it is clean. Small showers that you have to share and the breakfast is'nt something you would pay for. It's not exactly downtown but Mont Royal also has its own shopping and sight seeing stuff. You could go to the mountain and have a good view of the whole city; or walk down Rue Mont Royal or Rue St Denis for some shopping. Across from the hotel is the metro station, so you could go anywhere you want to and still get back to the hotel conveniently. Hotel au confort faible, sur une rue bruyante jusqu'à 3h du matin. Ca ressemble plus à une auberge de jeunesse qu'un hôtel. Toilettes et douches sur le palier. Le quartier est très animé et central. Pour faire la fête c'est super! Pour le professionnel à éviter. Le personnel est très gentil.

Hôtel très bien situé, près d'une station métro. C'est idéal pour retrouver le centre-ville de Montréal. Le service est bien fait et les gérants accueillants. Service de bonne qualité. Très bonne situation mais notre chambre donnait sur la rue à l'angle d'une grande artère et d'une rue moins fréquentée donc du bruit le soir et le matin tôt. Le réseau wifi est correct, en revanche la salle de bain est sur le palier (mais on le savait) certaine chambre l'ont avec, sur 6 jours nous n'avons pas eu d'eau chaude ni matin ni soir sans aucune […] explication ni excuse de la part de la direction qui malheureusement ne parle pas un mot de Français (Anglais et Espagnol seulement). Le petit déjeuner est limité mais acceptable, à ce prix là on ne demande pas la lune. Muy cercano a los mejores restaurantes y vida nocturna no importa que diferentes estilos musicales te interesen. Perfecto Punto de la ciudad para comenzar tu recorrido por Montreal. El unico inconveniente son las duchas un poco pequenas.. Pero Muy limpio y suficiente bueno para tener tu estancia en Montreal y por supuesto Muy economico.
