"Very conveniently located near airport"
My family and I were in NY from Louisiana for a funeral and chose this hotel because it would convenient for us to travel on buses, train or cab from airport using the hotel's shuttle, since we weren't familiar with the area enough to drive ourselves around. Unfortunately the hotel shuttle itself was more than inconvenient. It never ran on the schedule […] the hotel said it had. This room was about big enough for the 2 beds, and no more! The air conditioner was the worst in any hotel room I've ever stayed at in my entire life. The "auto" function only meant "random"! "Great hotel except for breakfast"
I was happy with nearly everything about this hotel. The rooms were modern, large and comfortable, nicely decorated and clean. The staff was friendly and polite. The rate was very good, considering we were there during Christmas week. I didn't even mind having to pay for parking because the total charge was still a good deal. Because it's located right […] by LaGuardia Airport it was packed all week with lots of families and travelers checking in and out. The one thing I really didn't like was breakfast. I've stayed at a number of other Hampton Inns and they usually have a decent breakfast spread with cooked eggs and sausage or bacon most days. The breakfast room was a zoo--packed every day no matter what time I got down there, and they were constantly running out of hot food an hour before breakfast was over. The few times I was able to grab some eggs they were so awful I couldn't eat them. The bagels and the oatmeal were good but they ran out of bagels on the last day I was there. How the kitchen staff made it through those breakfast hours and still managed to smile and patiently re-stock the food and clean up all the messes left by guests and kids I will never know. They deserve a medal! Well, any hotel in New York is a mob scene during the holidays, so I think I will go back to Hampton Inn La Guardia again when it's not the busiest week of the year.
