This hotel is alright if you are only staying one night and are on a tight budget, but don't expect anything special. The room is very small and there was no show curtain in the bathroom. The hotel is also in a bad neighborhood.

Our first night in Singapore, we stayed in a brand new hotel in China town for $160.00 US. It was no larger than a closet, the bed touched 3 walls, with one wall being a sheet of glass, which was the bathroom! No place to sit, no privacy, NO WINDOW!!! Talk about claustrophobic!! SO we moved to the area where hotels are much cheaper...Geylang area. This […] is a red light area, and after checking several hotels of this same chain, we decided this one was probably the best, and least used for red light activities. It was much larger than our more expensive hotel, and pretty clean. Desk staff was very kind and helpful, kept us supplied with bottled water, coached us which bus to use, etc. Metro (MRT) is easy 15 min walk, bus closer; cheap ways to get around. Cab to cruise port was $10.50, to airport $13.50. It was cheaper to book thru Expedia than walk- in rate, which is $70-80 US, but they do not have free internet access. Nobody is going to mistake this place for the Ritz, but the bed was fairly comfortable, with nice clean sheets, and we did not see any bugs. Towels were on the thin side, but they will give you more. You have to flip a switch by the light switch to get the hot water turned on. They were kind to store our bags (no charge) on the last day while we spent the day on Sentosa island, as we needed to be at the airport at 3:30 am. There are many high end hotels in Singapore, but if you want to save some bucks, and don't mind using public transportation, fine. Read more

In the centre of China town. A very vibrant area and easy to get to the MRT. May feel a little intimidated by the area if you're not used to it but its fantastic and very safe. You will not be hassled or bothered. It's Singapore not some getto. Enjoy

Staffs are willing to help, relatively clean. Poor maintenance - bathroom door won't close, no shower curtain provided. Rate is reasonably cheap. 7 minutes walk to laundry shop which will be a plus for travelers. Taxis available everywhere but 18 minutes walk to nearest subway station - a bit far, especially when you are tired.

The hotel is conveniently located for boarding the bus and metro. All the persons sitting at the hotel reception, at different shifts, are nice and always ready to help the guests. This hotel is a good deal for the price. The location is near the red light district but it was safe and pleasant even at night. The staff was very helpful and informative. The bed was firm and the room was small but for the price, I believe it was a good value.

Stayed here for 5 days, found the hotel to be basic but good value for money. I was given a one hour free "late check-out" because my plane did not leave until 21:00 pm, this was appreciated. The bed was comfortable and I had no problems with the mattress as mentioned elsewhere. Wireless internet access was free but frustratingly slow Aljuniet MRT is […] 15 minutes walk away, however, I noticed that most of the buses that stop just outside the MRT station run along Geylang Road. To avoid a hot walk just take a bus and get out two stops later, press the stop button as soon as the bus turns right into Geylang Road. From that bus stop there it is only a short tree minutes stroll to the hotel. 81 Princess is situated in a part of Singapore that has not yet been spoilt by rampant development, it made me feel like I was in Asia which was nice! The bed mattress was very hard. It was difficult to fall alseep and remain asleep due to the hardness of the bed. I woke up very tired in the morning because I did not get a good quality sleep. I asked for a laundry and no one in the hotel knew where one was and the hotel did not have one. They sent me to the wrong street to look for a laundry. We were in transit and had one night in Singapore. We booked into Hotel 81 Princess, as we needed a rest due to a 16 hour flight ahead the following morning and what a waste of money. We couldn't sleep as the beds were half the size of a single and the sheets didn't stay on as the mattresses were covered in PVC, the rooms were not clean and the hotel […] was seedy to say the least. The hotel is located between three MRTs (subway stations) so you have to walk a bit to reach any of them. There are a busstations closer but we never went by bus. They dont have wifi but you can plug in your computer with lan-cable in the room if you ask for login details at the reception. I will do the Bad first because there are too many of them and very few good points: 1) BAD LOCATION: The location makes it the single most important reason for people to not stay there. Its right in the heart of the Red Light area of Singapore, so you will see "people" hanging all over the locality. 2) FOOD: Most places around the hotel are extremely […] dirty, the food sits out pre-cooked for hours and no care is taken to ensure that one item doesn't mix with the other. Vegetarians like me will have to really search hard for a good place to eat. 3) Bed is extremely uncomfortable. They have some sort of leather cover and the bed sheet doesn't even cover the entire bed so your feet wander off on the leather cover which isn't a very good feeling. 4) Toiletries: They provide bare minimum. Not even soaps. So carry your own. 5) Cleanliness: Avg to low at best. Sometimes you could see the sheets were torn at places and I had to ask for replacement. The cleaning boy would use the towels to wipe off the floor in toilet and the room. The towels looked like as if they are a decade old. Carry your own and leave it for drying in the Bathroom. 6) Smell: There is weird bleachy smell in the elevator and the hallway that just never goes away. 7) Price: Its quite reasonable but if you throw in where it is located, you are better off paying even double and staying some place else. 8) Room: walls are quite thin. You can heal people going in and out of the room or talking in the other room or when you are outside. Luckily, I had a corner unit with no one else in the rooms next to me. Good: Staff: Courteous. This hotel is ideal for a short stay like mine in Singapore (3 days). Centrally situated to go almost anywhere. Lots of opportunities for shopping and eating near by in a still quiet neighbourhood. No breakfast at the hotel, but the nearest restaurant is less than 100 m away. Free internet.

Wir haben dieses Hotel für 5 Nächte gebucht und waren durchwegs zufrieden. Die Zimmer waren sauber und wurden täglich gereinigt (auch wenn wir das Zimmer erst gegen 14 Uhr verlassen haben, war es bereits eine Stunde später gereinigt.) Das Personal an der Rezeption war sehr freundlich und hat unser Gepäck am Tag der Abreise bis zum späten Nachmittag […] kostenfrei aufbewahrt. Auch konnten wir Dokumente kostenlos ausdrucken. In der Gegend sind sehr viele günstige Essmöglichkeiten und obwohl es das "Rotlichtviertel" ist, wurden wir nie belästigt. Wenn man nicht im touristischen Teil der Stadt wohnen möchte, ist diese Gegend hier empfehlenswert, um das "echte" Singapur zu erleben. Read more

Gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis, Superlage - sehr gute Verkehrsanbindung, nicht weit entfernt vom Flughafen - das Personal ist sehr zuvorkommend und aufmerksam. Wenn man das Hotelzimmer nur zum Schlafen nutzt, ist es wirklich zu empfehlen.

立地はゲイランのど真ん中のため、シンガポールのきれいな部分が好きな人にとっては最悪かもしれません。ただ、私もそうでしたが、もっとコアな部分が見たいという人にとっては、いい雰囲気と言えますね。駅から徒歩15分は難点ですが、現地の人に混じった気分になれました。 ホテルマンの対応はとても良かったです。しかし、ホテルが悪いのではないかもしれませんが、禁煙の部屋なのにタバコ臭かったのと、清掃が行き届いてないところなど、難点はあります。日本の安いビジネスホテルと比較すると、高いと感じでしまいました。
