We were there for my niece's graduation, from MSU, so it was a little off the beaten path, which was great, because there was lots of construction and traffic going on. Very clean, looked like brand new rooms!! Also, had firm and soft pillows, and the free breakfast in the morning was great!! I would recommend to everyone!!!

Staff were pleasant and accommodating. Near by workshop that we were there to attend was canceled at last minute. Reservations were made through & paid to hotels dot com at a rate lower rate if I agreed to terms of NO REFUND, NO RESCHEDULE, NO TRASNSFER.. Very average hotel room. Room was clean and the beds were nice, but not very astheticly pleasing. TV was small and channel selection was limited. We did use the pool which was nice and clean but also a little small. It was also a little on the cold side. I was somewhat annoyed at the breakfest. Many of the items were gone before the serving time was […] supposed to be over. Also right at the end (9:30am) everything was quickly wisked away despite some late comers trying to get a quick bite. If customer service was the priority they could have given people a little more time, or at least left some cold items out. Lumpy, bad quality sheets on bed. Had to ask for a "Do not Disturb" sign after the maids wanted to clean our room and we were still sleeping. Problem with key card, so had them remagnitze the card each time we returned to the hotel.

It doesn't have a restaurant which means you can't order room service. That would honestly be my only negative. The great location and proximity to restaurants, shopping, the highway, and MSU definitely makes up for it!

My only complaint is that I like to keep my air conditioner / fan on all the time. It helps me sleep. This air conditioner shuts off and on all night, which is fairly common but the constant fans are better

We stayed overnight for a soccer tournament that was held at the E. Lansing Soccer Complex (less than 5 minutes away). All of the staff were great. Got an early check-in to rest in between games (called in the morning). Free hot breakfast and the staff member was kind enough to check ingredients for my daughter's nut allergy. I am extremely disappointed in holiday inn express. They were not helpful or friendly at all when I checked in. They did not tell me any information for my duration there. I was not informed that I needed a username and password to access the internet nor was I informed of when breakfast is served. I travel for my job and stay at various hotels. I do […] not keep track of which hotel serves breakfast at which times or if I need an access code to get on the internet. This is not my job either to remember these things. That is the hotel staff's responsibility to inform their guests when they check in. When I did try to access the internet, I called the front desk and made a comment that they should inform their guests at check in. The gentleman that answered the phone said "Ok" and hung up on me. I find this kind of attitude unprofessional. I did make a complaint directly to Holiday Inn Express and found out later on that that gentleman was the manager on duty. I do not know what kind of people they hire for management, but that is not how a manager is to react to their guests. I will never stay at a holiday inn express ever again. I will not tolerate that kind of attitude from the hotel staff. Read more

Room was very clean with lots of space, beds were very comfortable and clean. We were on the second floor and the noise level was overwhelming from above. Had to call the front desk the first night because of the noise twice, which was taken care of promptly. The second night, we tolerated it because we were too tired to make a switch to another room […] (which was offered the first night). I recommend staying on the third floor if you don't want to feel like there are elephants walking across the ceiling. The pool was not open because of maintenance reasons until the second day we were there. We were not told until the second day that the pool had been shut down for the last three weeks because the heater was broken. The pool was opened the second day but was very very cold and tons of chlorine causing our kids eye irritation and respiratory issues, so they didn't use the pool long. Overall, the breakfast was free and reasonable, would have liked to have some fresh fruit like bananas or apples available, but it was palatable. There is no hot tub in the pool area as well. I was a little uncertain about how my stay was going to be here at this hotel after reading some negative comments on a travel site, so I am very eager to share my thoughts with other potential visitors. MSU was only minutes away, and Eastwood Towne Center is right down the street. The hotel was very clean, nicely decorated and the staff was very friendly. The room was very comfortable. If you are used to staying at five star hotels, you will undoubtedly be disappointed. However, if you are like me and looking for a clean, affordable place to lay your head at night, then this is definitely a winner. Another big plus for us, was the breakfast buffet the following morning. It was most definitely the best I have ever been to at a budget hotel. Fresh bacon, scrambled eggs, sausage patties, cereal, pancakes, orange juice, apple juice, etc. Something for everyone. It was amazing. You can definitely find cheaper rooms out there, but why would you want to? This was worth every penny. If you find the rates are running really high, you may want to check MSU's game schedules, because there is most definitely a game going on, and it will double the rate, maybe reschedule your visit for an off-game week, like I did.
