Stunning, historic property, now under the expert management of seasoned hotelier Michael Ryan, so watch this space for service and product improvements all round at The Villa by Barton G. Superb, friendly service. Breathtaking swimming pool.
"What a wonderful experience"

What a wonderful experience. We are not fans of a big evening meal and had called earlier in the day to ask about the possibility of joining them for drinks and appetizers and they made us a reservation. Which we found out was a must upon the arrival. Do not arrive without a reservation the security at the gate IS NOT going to let you in without your name being on THE LIST let alone crack a smile. A little overbearing but understandable given the history and the number of lookers they must get. Once our name was found on the list we were ushered into the magnificent surroundings of the entry hall and then into the bar. The bar, like the rest of the mansion is a sight to behold but not really set up to serve appetizers so we inquired about a table for dinner. Unfortunately or as we believe “fortunately” there were no tables available, for the large size of the mansion there are actually not many tables so they set up a table for us in the main entry courtyard. It was the best table in the house. Hard to believe that only steps away from the noise and bustle of Ocean Drive and South Beach that you are in this sanctuary of opulence. We ordered the grilled octopus and Lobster, beets and burrata appetizer, the poached lobster and snapper entrees. The meal, the surroundings, the service was spectacular. My wife and I are early 50’s, we’ve dined at our share of fine restaurants but it is hard to imagine a more memorable experience. We visited June 15th
"MEMORY FILLED WEEKEND"
04/28/14 FLA-JOE-DI FLA.
We have stayed at the Villa several times before, but this was the first time since it is under new ownership. We have always enjoyed our stays there - but this time was really memorable. The new staff starting with Brad, the general manager. We were guests of the hotel but Brad went out of his way for us and treated us like royalty. The things that he did made us feel very, very special He made this weekend for us a true memory. And then there was Kat, the hostess who attended to our every need. There was nothing we asked for she didn't deliver in spades on., We dined at the restaurant and Shane, our serve was incredible. He was not only incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and wines but had that perfect balance not being intrusive on a romantic dinner and yet every need was perfectly met. The food at the restaurant was fabulous --taste wise and also in their presentation of the meal. Truly five star dining. We also want to mention two other staff members - Freddy at the front gate and Tad who waited on us out by the pool. They also deserve special recognition - they were wonderful. So we want to say kudos to the new management and staff - well done! We will be back. Joe and Di

I had dinner for my birthday here on 4/13/14. The guy at the gate was a jerk he told me to step off the step as I walk up the steps before I told him I had reservations but still turned me away due to dress code. I knew there was a dress code and felt my attire was fine but got turned away because I didnt have on a dress, ( had on a Jean Paul sheer shirt, dress shorts and heels) since it was my on my list to do for my bday, I went and changed. But once I got inside they let me people in with jeans on! and yucky looking stripper dresses. The food was not great at all, I had the BEST food my whole trip at Prime on the beach. I was so shocked at how bad the food was, the steak was dry and had no taste, the potatos dry with taste and my fish was dry with not taste and they gave some veggie which I think was cream Kale or something ugh.

I was very excited to visit this restaurant and I have been a Versace fan since I was a little girl and to go inside the infamous villa was a experience of note for me. The only uneasiness I felt was the going through and coming out of the initial gate, its a little to "public" for me but thats my own feelings. We were seated in a small outside dining room with a almost Moroccan feel to it, very dim lighting, rich in colour and decor - didn't really match the rest of the villa but was still beautiful in its own right. The food was fabulous as was the service, this was to be expected..Scallops almost melted in mouth..We were lucky enough to explore the villa post dinner which was such a treat, this place is the definition of opulence, definitely one of my all time favourite restaurants and dining experience, I cannot wait to visit again..
"Nice but more ok"

The scenery was nice, the security at the gate was a bit to much. The prices weren't so bad, the food was just ok. small portions the staff is a little pretentious, and need to get over themselves. Its not like the ghost of Gianni Versace is taking your dinner order.

Unlike many other of the reviews on here, I not only dined at The Villa, but also stayed two nights so had a rather different experience, and couldn't have been more looked after. Our first night was in Allegra's room which was beautiful, no doubt. All blue and white aviary themed. However, our second stay we were upgraded to the Madonna suite (apparently Gianni had this room built especially for Madonna, complete with bathtub and all). This was simply divine. Huge bedroom, mosaic floor, only the best furniture and fittings. And the personal butler service was a nice touch. Then there is the pool. If you stay here, you must swim in this magnificent pool! Gold plated mosaic with Medusa head fountains. We had a midnight dip and again the next day. Service at poolside is of course exceptional, and for breakfast they don't have a menu as such - you just tell them what you want and they make it for you. Not surprisingly, this one-of-a-kind hotel doesn't come cheap though. But if you can afford it, you won't be disappointed.
"Nice dinning experience in a beautiful Italian villa in Miami"

The restaurant is all about the place. It's amazing the mansion and every detail about Versace decor. The glasses, plates, silverware, rugs, all in the mansion has Versace's logo . If you like beautiful decor, must go there. The food is good but nothing special. Very nice wine list. Good service but I think it's a one time visit.
