"Did not come together"

The Villa was recommended to us and when I looked at the reviews I thought that this would be an excellent intimate restaurant with just over 30 seated. First impression is less than stellar, the doorman was chasing off people while we stood and waited for the "rope" to be removed, in the end we walked around it. The initial entrance has to be better. Once inside this magnificent house one could only marvel that it exists in Miami. However, once more I feel the Villa let itself down, despite being on time for our booking there was no question of a pre drink in the very small and intimate bar, we were whisked to an outside table, I did not know there was an outside when I made my booking, one of the features that brought me here was the very opulent dining room. Our table did have a nice view of the courtyard and pool, we were OK. We were OK that is until the people next to us started spraying the house mosquito repellent, and then the table next to them! The food was excellent, I had a lobster beet salad, both of which perfect and my wife had the jumbo prawns. For our main course I had the Artichoke ravioli, which is something I would never usually order, but this was divine. My wife had the sea bass which she loved. The wine list was good, we had a crisp white. After dinner we decided to go for a liquid desert in the bar. We were left standing for about 5 minutes, I suggest that the Villa put more effort into making people comfortable and seating them. I had a look at the downstairs restaurant that was not full, but is very tight and smaller than photo's would suggest. We hung out with our drinks and admired the house. I have a mixed view on the Villa, this could have been great, it just missed an element of great service and seemed geared for the once off diner.
"The Worst Experience"

My wife and I enjoy fine dinning and have been to some of the finest restaurants in the world. We were celebrating our 22nd wedding anniversary. We made reservations on Wednesday prior for Saturday, August 16th, 2014. When we arrived on the schedulled time with proper attire, they did not have record of our reservation. We sat at the bar for a while. Later we were seated at a table in a third floor room. We ordered a bottle of malbec wine. After a while, the waiter showed up with a bottle of carmenere wine. He assured us that it was the same quality. When he poured the wine, we realized that it came in a screw on top bottle. Since we were celebrating our anniverdary, we decided to let it go.and enjoy the evening. We when ahead and ordered appetizers and dinner. Soon afterwards, Freddy the manager shows up at table with an aggresive demenor and demmanded that we show him the text message confirming the reservation. I explained to him that we did not get one. That in my 64 years, I have never heard of of needing a text confirmation for reservation a reservation in a restaurant. That I have had restaurants call me to confirm a reservation. Freddy continued to say that we " could leave if we wanted". We stunned. He asked me if he could have a word with me outside. When I stepped out to the third floor balcony, Freddy was not outside. Minutes later, the manager shows up with a approximately 6 foot 6 inch bouncer. Fearing bodily harm to my wife and myself, we decided to leave. We were followed by the bouncer very close behind arching his chest toward my wife and I. As we were leaving, I asked Freddy for his last name. He never gave it and started to use faul language. As I mentioned before, my wife and I enjoy fine dinning and have been to some of the finest restaurants in the globe. Also, in my business I entertain a lot of clients in many fine restaurants. We have never encountered a situation as embarrassing as the one we experienced in Villa Barton G. It ruined our anniversary celebration Mr. Barton G, congratulations on your success over the past years. However, it evident that your empire is crumbuling now. My advise to you is hire professionals and not bullies from bars on the beach. Jorge F. Miami

Whilst on honeymoon in Miami my new wife and I decided that no trip would be complete without an evening meal at the Villa. We arrived and were greeted by the doormen and immediately the 5* treatment began. We were escorted through the opulent and elegant entrance, through the jaw dropping court yard to the patio area to our table. The manager came and pointed out that as we had the best seat in the house we should perhaps consider our placing at the table, and he was right, we moved seats to overlook the beautiful pool area. Words cannot begin to describe how amazing this place is, just metres from the hustle and bustle of SoBe you have and extravagant yet peaceful world within the Villa. The staff, across all departments have given us the best service we encountered across the whole of Miami and put our hotel, which shall remain nameless to shame. I wished we had stayed here instead and when we visit next year we fully intend on booking the Villa. The meal was prepared perfectly and the atmosphere was electric. I cannot recommend the Villa enough. Thank you for giving us such a wonderful experience on our honeymoon Katherine and Shadia
"Opulence and attention"

The former Versace Mansion is buzzing again. The manager Michael Ryan and his team mix over-the-top glitz with understated elegance of the property. Sipping mojitos by the gold-encrusted mosaic pool is the highlight of Miami Beach. The bar is intimate and luxurious, and Carmine mixes fabulous cocktails. This is the place to go for those who crave calm and respite a stone's throw away from the buzz of SoBe. We are definitely returning!

"What a wonderful experience"

What a wonderful experience. We are not fans of a big evening meal and had called earlier in the day to ask about the possibility of joining them for drinks and appetizers and they made us a reservation. Which we found out was a must upon the arrival. Do not arrive without a reservation the security at the gate IS NOT going to let you in without your name being on THE LIST let alone crack a smile. A little overbearing but understandable given the history and the number of lookers they must get. Once our name was found on the list we were ushered into the magnificent surroundings of the entry hall and then into the bar. The bar, like the rest of the mansion is a sight to behold but not really set up to serve appetizers so we inquired about a table for dinner. Unfortunately or as we believe “fortunately” there were no tables available, for the large size of the mansion there are actually not many tables so they set up a table for us in the main entry courtyard. It was the best table in the house. Hard to believe that only steps away from the noise and bustle of Ocean Drive and South Beach that you are in this sanctuary of opulence. We ordered the grilled octopus and Lobster, beets and burrata appetizer, the poached lobster and snapper entrees. The meal, the surroundings, the service was spectacular. My wife and I are early 50’s, we’ve dined at our share of fine restaurants but it is hard to imagine a more memorable experience. We visited June 15th
"MEMORY FILLED WEEKEND"
04/28/14 FLA-JOE-DI FLA.
We have stayed at the Villa several times before, but this was the first time since it is under new ownership. We have always enjoyed our stays there - but this time was really memorable. The new staff starting with Brad, the general manager. We were guests of the hotel but Brad went out of his way for us and treated us like royalty. The things that he did made us feel very, very special He made this weekend for us a true memory. And then there was Kat, the hostess who attended to our every need. There was nothing we asked for she didn't deliver in spades on., We dined at the restaurant and Shane, our serve was incredible. He was not only incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and wines but had that perfect balance not being intrusive on a romantic dinner and yet every need was perfectly met. The food at the restaurant was fabulous --taste wise and also in their presentation of the meal. Truly five star dining. We also want to mention two other staff members - Freddy at the front gate and Tad who waited on us out by the pool. They also deserve special recognition - they were wonderful. So we want to say kudos to the new management and staff - well done! We will be back. Joe and Di

I had dinner for my birthday here on 4/13/14. The guy at the gate was a jerk he told me to step off the step as I walk up the steps before I told him I had reservations but still turned me away due to dress code. I knew there was a dress code and felt my attire was fine but got turned away because I didnt have on a dress, ( had on a Jean Paul sheer shirt, dress shorts and heels) since it was my on my list to do for my bday, I went and changed. But once I got inside they let me people in with jeans on! and yucky looking stripper dresses. The food was not great at all, I had the BEST food my whole trip at Prime on the beach. I was so shocked at how bad the food was, the steak was dry and had no taste, the potatos dry with taste and my fish was dry with not taste and they gave some veggie which I think was cream Kale or something ugh.
