The hotel is entirely refurbished, and the work is well-done: rooms are nice and confortable. Beds are really fine and breakfast is very good, the best one I have ever had in Paris. The hotel is close to Place de la République, close to restaurants and bar, and not far from Les Marais and two big railway statios: les Gares de l'Est et du Nord.

Just spent two night at this lovely hotel. I've stayed at far more expensive hotels in Paris and indeed elsewhere but for the money this is a superbly comfortable place to stay at. Stayed in the cheapest double (rm 206). Like stated earlier many times...tiny! Couldn't make it to the other side of the bed with the desk open. Wi-fi signal was very weak in the room and was disconnected often. Breakfast selection is small and seating can be a problem since the eating area is also small. There are no washcloths so bring your own. There […] is also no coffee maker, no iron, no dresser drawers and very little storage. We had to get a second luggage rack and used our suitcases in lieu of drawers. The good: staff very friendly and helpful. Room made up/cleaned daily, linen changed on Saturday. Coin operated laundry 1 block away easy to figure out even without knowing how to read french. 2 subway stations about 2 blocks away. Ethnically diverse neighborhood with lots of cuisine choices. The hotel more than exceeded our expectations. The front desk staff was exceptional. We visited in August and knew that many restaurants would be closed for vacation. The staff went above and beyond in calling restaurants on our list and arranged for a series of wonderful meals. The breakfasts were ample, European style with fresh squeezed juices. This hotel is amazing, it is very comfortable and design is very good. Also location is very good. There is one bad point, which is internet. I would rate wireless as 0/10 rank, disconnects every 1-2 minutes and you have to connect it again for next 1-2minutes. I hope they will fix it someday.

Overall I liked the hotel but questioned the location as being Marais. This is just east of the Place de la République (currently under construction and should be complete by 2013). While there was much going on […] in the area, the real action was south near the Rue de Rivoli. To get there you will need to walk a few blocks and jump the Metro south a couple of stops. There were no brochures or available Time Outs about what was happening in Paris.There is no lounge to relax in and that is not comfortable. We loved the hotel, which is far enough from the bustle of the touristy center of Paris and yet close enough to get to most attractions by foot (Republic metro station is just a few blocks away, though). The hotel is truly chic and […] nice. The room was comfortable, even big (to European standards).The bed was sooooo comfortable I had to make a big effort every morning to get out of it! Had to always remind myself that Paris was out there for me to enjoy! Never slept better in my life, not even in my own bed! And the alarm clock was so soothing and nice... I really miss waking up in that room. We loved the bathroom, big and lit, although it could use more hooks (no place to hang clothes). The bathtub was spectacular, but maybe a little too high, had to be careful when going in and out of it. The staff was very nice, although some of the front desk employees speak very little English, (or any other language, we tried Spanish also with no luck) but they were truly nice. Some of them really look like models, so we wonder if maybe they need to concentrate more on language skills and knowledge of the city than appearance. This charming hotel is a very good example of design-driven lodging, and the decor and amenities will truly satisfy young and middle-aged couples. We were first time visitors to Paris and were worried about getting along without knowing French. This was a good hotel choice because staff were friendly and the front desk people spoke decent English. They were helpful in identifying on the maps things to see and how to get there. This hotel is located very conveniently to metro station "Republique". […] We bought a metro pass and we found getting to all the attractions from this hotel was easy. Republique station is about 5 minutes from the hotel. From there we could go to any place in Paris close to a metro. There are a lot of cafes around the hotel and also McDonalds, Subway and KFC within 10 minutes. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel so I do not know the quality of the breakfast. The main irritant with this hotel was the size of the room. Compared to the hotels we are used to in USA, it is tiny. If you have a lot of luggage, there is not much room to move. I do not know if this is the general situation with the hotels in Paris but after researching about the hotels, we found this to be the best value for the money given location, quality of the hotel and the staff. The staff sets this boutique hotel apart from others! After a botched booking the staff of the Hotel Gabriel made sure that the rest of our stay was perfect. Rooms feature very smart design, with more room and comfort than typical rooms in Paris. The first 2 nights were spent in a double with a bath tub, very nice feature and well executed to create […] a relaxing escape from the city. The remaining nights were in a standard single (which is really a double) and still with plenty of room. Beds are very comfortable, bathrooms are nice and feature a rain shower. As some of the other reviews state the water does splash out on the floor, but for anyone who has spent time traveling in Europe you know this is the norm. Rooms feature ipod docking stations, enough storage for a weekend get-a-way or week long trip, nice flat screen TV's, free wi-fi, stocked minibar and even some extras. Lighting is cool and unique for each room. The neighborhood is well situated. It was my first time staying outside the city center (proper), and it was a 30-40 minute walk to the Louvre or the metro provides fast and convenient travel to where ever you want to go. I stayed at the Hotel Gabriel for a week this February, and thought it was a fabulous little hotel. My room was very clean, the bed was comfortable and warm, the thermostat worked and was easy to use. I enjoyed the french TV channels while trying to fall asleep at night with jet lag. The most remarkable feature is the original, modern design. It is a small hotel, quiet, clean, well located and the service is friendly and efficient. The rooms are fairly small, but comfortable. The staff qt the Hotel Gabriel in Paris could not have been nicer. They were very knowledgeable and helpful . While the decor of the hotel is the same As it appears on the website, it is tired and the hotel needs a refresh. CArpet is worn, peeling paint and plaster in my room. The beds were very comfortable but the maid service was poor. Often tows […] were removed but not replaced. The neighborhood was safe but the streets were littered with garbage. Most perplexing, on the street just a few doors from the hotel, a very large old box tv lay in the gutter- appeared to have been tossed out a window. While safety barriers were put around it, no one bothered to remove it. Similar sights throughout the neighborhood. Read more

We had a great stay at the hotel. It's not actually located in the heart of the Marais but a) it's priced accordingly. b) has great access to public transit and c) is a 15 minute walk from the heart of the Marais. Oh, and the hotel staff was extremely nice/helpful and the bed couldn't have been comfier.
