We actually booked a room that the building had been closed for the winter for renovation and they provided us an upgrade to a cabin.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The unit serves the purpose it is/was designed for but with my wife and I it is overpriced for our needs. Would be perfect for a family needing the many available services.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Rustic lake getaway."
Wonderful hotel with lots of activities for the kids. Plus it is so close to Branson. Spent the morning on the lake canoeing, kayaking and then take in a show!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to everything"
Big Cedar is just great! Has so much to offer, great food, multiple things to do and enjoy, great service, clean, comfortable, and the grounds are beautiful! We have stayed in the lodge before, but this time we got a cabin, was so cozy and nice. You go beyound great service, the basket of "goodies" in the room and drinks provided were so nice, and the […] cookies at night -- ummm. We are already talking about when we can come back. Thank you so very much for a great stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I really liked Big Cedar. We got our own one bedroom cabin for our honeymoon. Although it was very nice to be there it was not what the website made it out to be. Our cabin was not on the water, The term "private" is loosely used as I could reach out of our bathroom window and pretty much touch the neighboring cabins. The deck also was not private because […] I could see into the neighbors cabin and everyone around us could see our deck. Also the last thing that was a little disappointing was that our wireless internet didn't work and the people on the phone didn't do anything to help. Just a few inconveniences and a couple things that weren't as expecting but overall it was a good experience and quiet. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Big Cedar - First class all the way!"
We really needed a getaway, and it was nice to only drive 45 minutes but feel like you are a world away. Due to our late booking, it seemed we wouldn't be able to get a cabin with a wood fireplace. But we asked - never hurts, right? - and they graciously upgraded us to a lakeside cabin, wood fireplace, jacuzzi, the works - for only a small additional […] cost per night. The place was amazing! Comfy, quiet, and the friendly staff available whenever you might need them. It was all so easy - one of the best, most relaxing mini-vacations we ever had. One caveat - they are NOT kidding about no pets. We didn't know and brought our little dog. The only sour note of the whole trip was the rather large Pet Service Fee that was added to our bill. We will definitely come back, but we will definitely NOT bring the doggie. ( I don't see that as their fault, I didn't even read up to see what their policy was). Overall, I highly recommend a stay at Big Cedar the next time you need some relief from stress. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The resort was very nice, with many activities. The room was way too dark, had to open the door to let in some light. Not a lamp or overhead light in sight! The coffee at the Truman Cafe was good, however at the other two nearby restaurants it was no more than brown water. I asked if they had a different blend, and was told the same was used on the […] entire property. Sounds like someone is being stingy on the amount of coffee used. "Big Cedar Lodge"
I had heard heard that Big Cedar Lodge was a nice place to stay but it really exceeded all of my expectations. We stayed 2 nights and I wish we could have stayed longer. We will definately go back another time. I live in Kansas City and had no idea such a wonderful place was only a 3 hour drive. It is rustic yet casual. Everything was wonderful. Our […] main objective was to visit Branson. We ended up just driving through Branson and spending all our time at Big Cedar. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Thumbs up to Big Cedar"

Big Cedar has a lot character, activities and great scenery. The resort was larger than expected. My crew put in quite a bit of walking but the resort provides complementary shuttles. The accommodations were charming although somewhat dated. Next time we will probably book earlier for more options. There is one main restaurant on the property with a family friendly bar below. There is a cafe located near registration for coffee, sandwiches and snacks but the wait could be quite long at peak times. The marina offers kayaks, canoes, paddle boats for free and boats and wave runners for rent. There is a family friendly beach area near the marina. There is also a lazy river near the Wilderness Club. The newly opened Top of the Rock is a gem. 9 hole, par 3 golf course. An old barn transported from PA and enhanced into the restaurant above the pro shop overlooking the driving range. The range is lit at night for hitting balls after dark. The middle part will house the history museum. The other end is the Osage Restaurant - upscale dining in the evening and a casual Sunday brunch. The cave and canyon tours on golf carts provided some good pictures and is only a 45 min to 1 hour time commitment. Overall, it's a really nice resort. Service is extremely friendly but often slow.

What a great place for family or couples get-a-way. Tim, the bartender for the Buzzard bar, is one-of-kind friendly professional and knows his way behind the bar. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely send others to Big Cedar Lodge.
"Top of the Rock"

We just visited the new addition to Big Cedar, the Top of the Rock area. Again Mr. Morris and his team of great visual and comfort staff have created a grand new site. Golf course, 3 restaurants, and beautiful chapel and grounds. I think there is a cave for wine dinners coming in the Fall.
It's so pretty and the kids loved it. The views are beautiful. It is pricey but a good experience. The pools aren't that great and be prepared to trek around a bit. I can say I can see where it would be relaxing. I would like to maybe rent a cabin next time.

My family loved Big Cedar! From putt putt golf to paddle boats this resort has it all. Our kids were never bored. Our condo was beautiful with an amazing view! We will now make this a yearly family vacation.
"Great family resort"
07/21/14 Chunkylover5480 St Louis, MO
Big Cedar is close to Branson but still feels remote and secluded. It's a first class resort with top notch facilities and staff. My family stayed in the Falls Lodge and it was a great room - large and clean and decorated in an upscale rustic style. The view off the balcony was spectacular. I didn't do too much on the property during my stay, but it seemed like most activities were included. There's a shuttle service to take you around the property, mini golf, several pools, boat rentals, several restaurants. I think a large spa is under construction. The staff were typically very friendly and helpful, although I thought the service in the two restaurants we visited was just average. The property isn't that big but the layout is confusing at first. It's very hilly so walking around the low area is do-able, but walking up to the lodges up the hill is a workout.
"No Detail Overlooked"

Well worth the drive is Big Cedar Lodge in the beautiful Ozark Mountains. From the main lodge suites to the small fishing cabins, Big Cedar does it right. Like a smaller version of Disneyland, the landscaping is manicured like live art. Layers upon layers of flowers and vibrant plants in the forefront of the heavily detailed architecture. Each building positioned to maximize and preserve the view of the lake. The resort covers many acres so there's a lot of area to explore. The main lodge rooms are very large and fabulously decorated; each with a balcony. Luxury mountain themed décor in abundance and no expense was spared. John Morris, owner / founder, of Big Bass Pro Shops also owns this lodge so the taxidermy and water craft available are first rate. Truly an experience. Grocery shopping isn't very close by so plan accordingly. On site restaurants are readily available and selection and service are wonderful.
Three couples decided to leave New England and discover Missouri. We has the best vacation in spite of some bad weather. The resort offers everything. Great dining, a new golf course, boating, fishing, water activities, you name , they have it. Our cabin was perfect. Everything we needed. The service was top notch. Hope to return with our grandchildren.
