Kingston Hotel - Dun Laoghaire

I enjoyed my stay at the Kingston Hotel! I much liked the old restaurant as compared to the new one.

Hotel is old and needs some updating but overall is comfortable and staff is very nice and helpful. The location is right in front of the pier and you can see the pier/water from most of the rooms. The area is safe and family oriented but outside of the Dublin tourist area. Plenty of eating spots, stores, shops, park, museum and other things to do in […] a short walk. Tours will pick you up near by (walking distance) or at the hotel so do not feel as if you can not take advantage of them by staying in this area/hotel. For comfort of the room, the issue was heat, the radiator wouldn't shut off properly and even with the window open it was very warm, other than this no complaints the staff were lovely would happily stay there again

The breakfast was the weakest part of the hotel package. OK if you wanted a cooked breakfast but no fresh fruit croissants plain yougurt or honey. Just toast wheaten bread and tea made in an urn. I thought urns were for canteens. Why not hot water and tea bags for a good fresh cup of tea.

the kingston was ideal for what my wife and i needed. we did some of our courting there 18/19 years ago ie. drinking and dining in the big bay window over looking the harbour, brought back some great memories. thanks.

Our room was better than expected though we had no seaview.The bedside lights are ridiculously weak. Excellent shower. The breakfast was really good and generous (though the 'fresh' fruit was a bit fizzy!). Overall a good experience.

The condition of the hotel itself leaves alot to be desired. The bath room tiles were cracked, if you left the bathroom light on for more than a minute it made a strange rumbling noise, same when you turned on a tap. The Hotel has very good views of the harbour, the Dart (train) is only approximately 6 minutes from the hotel giving you the choice of Dublin (15 mins approx and Howeth further around the Dublin Bay) or going the other way to Bray, I found the room and hotel very clean, staff always greated us with a smile were very helpful and friendly. The hotel is old looking in decor and cheap. No fridge in the room, and a basic enough room. It's definetly the cheap option so not for a romantic getaway but absolutely fine. Pros: Reasonably Priced, near the sea, comfortable and clean room.Limited Parking, Wi-fi connection available but very poor. Overall I'd recommend it though, this review is based on three stays with them over the past few months.

The hotel is picturesque with a wonderful view of the harbour. The pub staff in the evening were very nice. If I had been staying only one or two nights I might have been more pleased. The breakfast was fine. But the quality of the houskeeping was attrocious. The floor in the room was never vacummed and contained lumps that should have been cleaned […] up before ever putting a person in a room. While I noiced a vaccum in the hall when the houskeeping cart was out, I doubt that they ever used it. Likewise, they never changed the sheets in the 8 days I was there. And worst of all, one evening I came back to my room with the door proped open by the wet towel that I had used in the moning after my shower. It was like the housekeeping staff just quit working. When I brought it to the attention of the evening desk attendant, I was just told that it should never of happened. I was told that it is a safe place and asked if anything was missing. When I said that I did not notice anything missing I was just told that they would have a word with the housekeeping staff. There was no attempt to compensate me for the problem. I never even received an appology from the management and don't know whether they heard of it or not. Likewise, the quality of the bed left a lot to be desired. Each morning I woke up with a back ache, which I did not have before or after my stay there. It could be a lot better if management took an active role in seeing to the cmfort of those who stay in its loggings. Read more

Very dated, room was cold, there was an electric heater in the room but even with it on the room was very cold. Bathroom was poor, tile grout was moldy and the shower head looked very dirty. Breakfast was ok but nothing great.

Wouldnt stay there again. The whole hotel is too old now and needs updating, fast. The water and showers do not work. Everything in the hotel is about 30yrs old and looks very worn. The tv's in the rooms are ridiculously small and old. The whole hotel doesn't look nice as its so old and worn. They do try to keep it clean but it's just too old now.

an old faded kind of hotel. quiet and car parking brilliant. the rubber-sheet on the (old) mattress wasn't so comfortable and rather noisy every time you turned over. the reception desk staff were a bit 'unapproachable' in manner. bit scary. great location though and inexpensive.

I was not expecting five star accommodation for the price I paid for my room but I would expect a few things as standard. The hotel room stank of smoke (non-smoking room) and was very musty, to the point where the rest of the clothes I had brought with me had become infused with the smell, and even though I hadn't worn them they had to be washed when […] I got home.
