PROS: Staff at check in and check out were helpful and very accommodating. Breakfast was superb - chef and serving staff very friendly.. Location was fairly convenient. Staff helpful in the evening when just looking for a cup of coffee since there wasn't a coffee maker in the room. Hotel and rooms clean. CONs: "family" room was nothing like in the hotel […] photos. Very small, beds up against the side window and only a 3foot walking space between the end of the beds and the wall. Beds also not very comfortable. Read more

On a hill with AWESOME views of the port. Wonderful and helpful staff, close to shopping, food and entertainment. Would absolutely reccomend this to any staying in CORK. Did I mention Staff was engaging, pleasant and helpful. Made for a wonderful visit to Cork.

Not quite in the city centre but only a short walk away. Close to local pubs for traditional Irish music. Very helpful staff helped us with recommendations on where to go next. Great stay!

Sincerely, looked pretty run down from outside. The area does not seem safe, but when got the the hotel it was surprisingly ok. Free parking. Rooms not very new but good enough. Was on top floor which provided beautiful views of the city. Breakfast nice, but you have to pay a bit extra for hot one. Even continental breakfast was enough. Overall, the service was outstanding. The owner invited my girls to pick out their own eggs from the chickens in the morning. Its been a while since my girls were so excited to wake up! The location is walking distance to many of the sites in Cork. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone visiting!

The staff was great...very informative and helpful! The B&B was clean, hospitable and comfortable. Nice having a "warmer" for our towels in the bath and nice walk in shower. The breakfast was very good and the staff at breakfast was very accomodating! I would defintely stay here again!

By the time we got to Cork we had traveled all across Ireland. This B&B was just what we needed. Favorite of all the places we stayed. Just had to walk down the hill to be in the main city centre. Super friendly staff and great breakfast available. Free wifi was awesome and all together a great experience.

The "house" was huge. The location was a little off the beaten path, but it was a nice place that wasn't a terrible walk from the city center. On top of that all there was great Wifi in the room(only place we stay in Ireland that I didn't have to leave the room to work)!

Only there for one night but it was a very nice place to stay. Very close to center of town and easy to find. Room was a little cramped but it was very comfortable with a great view of Cork city. Wi-Fi advertised but the room we were in had extremely poor reception so don't count on getting the internet or e-mails. it was hard to find Gabriel House and the parking lot was a sharp slope down from street to house. Room was small but clean and had new bath. breakfast was good and staff was very nice, but it was away from points of interest in Cork. It was just OK.

Staff was very friendly and eager to help. Breakfast room was WAY too small and many people left because there was no where to sit and eat. Seems to me if you are paying for a meal, you should provide enough room to take advantage of what you paid for. Room was nice and had a good shower.

We stayed at Gabriel's Guest House for 6 nights. When we got there we were informed that our Expedia purchase did not include breakfast so we would have to pay 10 euros per person per meal...needless to say we had not planned on this and 2 of us ended up not eating breakfast due to the added cost. The rooms were decent but small. If you are looking […] for comfort or amenities this is not the place. There is no blow dryer, no iron, no microwave, no refridgerator, no phone, no alarm clock. We were not able to plan smaller meals at the hotel due to this, and had to worry about being up on time. The hotel does not offer wake up calls as they do not provide in room phones, but did give us one wake up knock after much asking. There was a 10 euro holding fee to borrow the adapters so that was helpful. Our bed sheets were never changed in the week we stayed there and the floor was never vacuumed. We had to ask several times for clean towels as they took ours away and didn't bring new ones. The hotel is on the top of a VERY steep hill, so if you have asthma, difficulty walking or fatigue, this is not very convenient as a cab from downtown to the hotel is between 6 and 8 euros each time. The hotel doesn't provide transport to and from the airport so that's at least another 20 euros each time. There is no elevator so you must haul your luggage up at least 2 flights of stairs. There was no heat or AC for us so it wasn't always comfortable. Overall not awful, but not what I was expecting. Read more

No lift so had to walk up to the 4th floor - didn't bother me as am fit, but may bother many. Great service at front desk. Driveway steep with sharp corner that some may find difficult to navigate. A decent walk up hill from the city center. Cork itself is not that easy to navigate around.

The location of the Gabriel House was great...except for the very large hill it was on. As four our room, we were on the 3rd floor and had fairly small windows which you could only see out of if you were standing on your bed. The room had a twin and a 'king' (which was actually 2 twins pushed together). Stains were observed on the bedding which was […] quite disgusting. Very helpful staff. Room was clean with new bathroom fixtures. Water was hot and pressure was good. Shower was clean. WIFI worked well in the room (2nd floor). Room had 4 large windows, which helped warm the room during the day. Room got colder at night/early morning. Tea/Coffee provided. 10 min downhill walk to bus station/city center. Steep hill on […] the way back, but inexpensive bus service (#7 and #8) takes you to and from hotel (bus stops are both to the right and left of the hotel's location. Close by to main attractions. Bed was large and comfortable. Pillows were comfortable. Small, flat screen tv worked well. Nice outdoor sitting area in the back. House overlooks the city. The builidng is charming and the location of the hotel looked very central on the map, but the quality of service at this hotel is very sketchy. First, the person at reception gave us entirely inaccurate directions about public buses to the Cork City Gaol, one of the main historic attractions in Cork. We double-checked her directions with a bus driver, […] because I thought they contradicted what I could see on the map, and he confirmed that her directions would have taken us miles out of our way. Second, the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night, the guests all evacuated, and no one -- neither hotel staff nor the fire department -- came for more than 45 minutes. Eventually the manager arrived and turned off the alarm and told everyone it was "safe" to return to their rooms. The fire department never came, despite a loud, constant alarm, and several guests were still anxious that their safety was at risk. I'd stay someplace else if I were to go back to Cork. Read more

Gabriel House was one of the best places I stayed during a month-long trip to Europe. It was very comfortable and had a laid-back ambience, a smart, courteous staff, and a great location. Breadfast was exceptionally good. Even the local rooster was considerate and did not crow before 9:00. Would be hard to imagine anyone not liking this place.

The guest house itself is lovely and most of the rooms reflect its old world charm. Unfortunately the first family room we had was just OK. Located in the attic the ceiling was very low and the room was poky especially the bathroom . Th view was great but we did no sleep at all s there was some kind of engine noise to be heard all night. We complained […] the next day and were moved to a much nicer room which was located above the washing machines. Fortunately they were not in use at night but while working they were audible as well. This B&B was absolutely lovely, the staff were all very friendly, and the breakfast was spectacular! Just to note that it is located at the top of a steep hill, so be warned if you're going to try and lug a suitcase up from the bus/train station.

Our group of six were welcomed and provided with useful information about the town, the area and places to eat. Breakfast was fantastic-lots to eat with good service, good coffee, eggs, etc. as ordered. Staff accommodated special requests with no hesitations.
