I wish I was still here!! This hotel has everything you could ever need!! The food was excellent!! And there are SO many choices! The only thing I wish is that we were able to stay longer so that we could have tried them all!! The simmon mansion restaurant is a MUST! Yes you have to pay for this but it is worth every penny!! "My follow-up experience."
I was here January 2014. I liked it so it so much and it's safer than Mexico. I came back. I think the hotel probable looks at these comments. The food is a bit better. The staff works hard to please you. The weather this time was more cloudy and overcast but the same temperature. I got a cheaper room this time although I was the same concierge level. […] The spa is worth doing even with 20% tax. The tax added is probable what the experience is worth. For example the couples massage was listed at 1300$ us. The tax put the real cost of out of pocket expense at 300$ which it was worth. The casino is ok. We lost this time but the slots let you play a long time time before you eventually lose. The food is bland but at least you don't get sick . My only major complaint was the wine in rooms. They stock the rooms with liquor but no mixer. Not sure if anyone does straight tequila, vodka, rum? The beer is kept full. No wine . I had wine in the room when I got there but when I asked for more they said it's not included. The wine is 2$ chuck so wine drinkers be wary. The beer drinkers and hard drinkers get it better. Just do you know the previous time the Brazilian steak place gave us a bottle of wine to take with us but we never drank it. The bottom line if you are willing to spend the money and are not too picky then go there. My conversations with Canadian guests is they pay less than Americans . "Expectations were met"
I must say, I was definitely pleased with the Hard Rock. For the most part, the staff spoke both English and Spanish. This was a plus for me because my boyfriend and I spoke very little Spanish. The staff were all very pleasant and accommodating. Our suite was well kept, modern, clean, and comfortable. Cleanliness and comfort are big deals for me because […] my own home is clean and comfortable. Albeit I had no plans on staying in my suite for the majority of my vacation, I still want a comfortable and clean place to lay my head when I do decide to take a catch some zzz. I truly appreciated the fact that "all inclusive" literally meant all inclusive! We did not pay for a single meal! The facility had 8 or 9 restaurants for guests to choose from. Our favorite was Torro and our least favorite was Ciao. The only complaint I have is regarding the food. There was an array of food available for breakfast but some of the food was cold, such as the french toast. I also did not care for the way they seasoned and cooked some of the food. My least favorites were the lobster, shrimp, burgers, eggs, nachos, fajitas, quesadillas, and cheesecake (just to name a few). But there were some tasty treats that we kinda stuck with such as the pizza, cinnamon rolls, ice cream, stewed beans, bacon, steak, grilled chicken, fried chicken, ham, and cereal (again, just to name a few). "Great price; near the beach; all inclusive"
This is our second time to the Dominican and this trip by far was our best. The Hard Rock Resort really lived up to their motto - "where everyone is a Rock Star". "Great all inclusive with some issues"
We had a great vacation despite some minor things: 1. If you purchase the shared transportation through expedia, please make sure you don't use Blue Travel Services as the transportation company. They seem to try to con you into purchasing their excursions and use the name of"Expedia". So basically, in order for us to get our return confirmation for […] a pick up on our way back, they tried to state that it was "mandatory" to meet with their rep to "review" excursions. This issue is not with the Hard Rock but expedia must resolve these issues and not use this company. Great fully, we didn't fall this bait and switch and simply stated that we would contact expedia directly . 2. When we first arrived at the Hard rock we were greeted with cold drinks. At first, our room was not ready and we were put on the first floor. We had to meet with the manager, "Julie" in which we had to fight our way for a better room that was not on the first floor. Don't settle for the room if you are not happy. Make sure you get what you paid for. 3. AVOID at all costs, the vultures that stand in the lobby stating that they will help you with a tour around the hotel and the excursions. These are the"legendary" time share sales people that want you to sit in a 90 min presentation just to sell you a timeshare. Time share people were annoying as they try to get you to go on a 1.5 hour tour constantly, everytime you walk near the lobby. Food was good for an all inclusive. Drinks were good too. Our stay at the hotel was a very short one, but enough to enjoy some of the nice restaurants, pools and bars. The room was awesome with a whirlpool for 2 and refreshments included. "Something for everyone"
The rooms are just as awesome as they look in the photos. No exaggeration! If you want a quiet getaway they have quiet serene pools. If you are looking to party the main pool always has a dj and a lot of entertainment. The food at the restaurants is very good, but I was tired of it by the fifth day. This was our first time at an all inclusive and we loved it! The place was very clean, people were friendly and there was a lot to do. I LOVED the spa and my husband really enjoyed golfing. The only thing I would have changed was trying to upgrade to a room on a higher floor. We were on the first floor and felt like we were underground when we sat on […] the patio. The food was so-so, nothing to rave about. Zen was our favorite and we ate there twice. The pools were great, but on the last day we had trouble finding a chair and there were no towels. Otherwise we did not have a problem. The resort credits are kind of a joke, but we did use them for the spa and golf - we golfed after 2pm so got the twilight rate. We were concerned it was going to be really hot, but it wasn't too bad! Also, if you golf, you cannot use the resort credits for the club rentals. We stayed for a weekend. Arrived at night, the check-in service was very bad. The attendant gave us few information and was clearly in a rush. We had to walk to hour room (about 20 minutes from the main lobby) since we get lost several times. The room was wrong, we asked for a king size room and we got a two queen size. The room was connected to another […] one with double door. We realized that by the smell of cigarettes coming from the other side. We had a short stay feb24-feb28, it was 80 and sunny everyday! Pools fantastic, staff mostly friendly, stay away from "resort sales" people they try to capture you to tell you how to spend resort credit which we cared nothing about we only had after travel a 2 day trip and I wasn't wasting anytime with them! The resort and staff was AMAZING. We did NOT have one bad experience. There was so much to do. The staff was great I felt like I was there priority the entire time!! With only 5 days to visit, had to make the most of our stay. The staff there were very friendly and accommodating. The room is large and clean. Food was decent with the best restaurant being Toro. "Nice but nothing special"

"Hard Rock Hotel by far has the best staff I have ever encountered. When I left here I knew that I wanted to come here every year! They became my family from the Dominican Republic! This was my 1st anniversary/honeymoon/birthday and they helped my husband and I celebrate better than we could have ever imagined it! We stayed here from the 5th of November […] to the 14th. We went to all the restaurants on the resort except for the Mexican and Pizza restaurants. The market restaurant was a buffet that we went to for breakfast and it was pretty good. I loved the mangu and all the other Dominican food they made for breakfast. My husband ate more of the american food for breakfast and he like that too. The staff here was great and always in a good mood. Isla was the restaurant that made our trip! The food is fantastic and the night entertainment was so much fun.They have a band that plays salsa and meringue music and you can dance to it till 11pm. They have different themes like Dominican night and serve real Dominican food. Its right by the isla pool which is a low key pool with good swim up sushi. The beautiful smiles that greet you when you first walk in from Ingrid and Issa make you feel right at home. If you go there enough (like we did) they make it a point to remember your name and even your room number. Felix is the restaurant manager and I don't think he ever gets a day off. "Too crowded at pools and beach"
We were there over New Year's week. Hotel at 98-100% capacity. Check in took 2-3 hrs- room not ready until after 5:30 pm, and not given rooms near our friends. There were absolutely NO chairs at any of the multiple pool areas or the beach, and we would spend 1- 1 1/2 hrs looking for seats. The food was mediocre- all breakfasts and lunches buffet-most […] restaurants had the same food. Dinners were mediocre as well. If you did not eat before 6:30, wait times were between 1 and 2 hours for dinner (they did not accept any advance reservations). Beach beautifiul, soft white sand, but water very rough- red flag most of the week. No water sports. College age daughter and friend bored, esp at night. Rooms/suites and grounds beautiful. Sometimes not given clean hand towels in our rooms for a couple of days. Plenty of bottled water, but mini bar not regularly refilled. Inconsistent service probably due to # of people at resort.
