This was a good hotel except for the beach arrangement. The pool is quite small, and there is a walk to the beach (I thought it was on beach) but its at an intersection. The beach arrangement is dreadful. The hotel "rents" the equipment (chairs, towels, umbrella) for guests at the beach, which is handled by rude workers seemingly without any supervision. […] the "beach guys" who set up your chair, etc will virtually not help you unless they get a tip up front. The first day we arrived at the beach at 4pm they told us there were no towels available and then ended up literally dumping a few towels they said they found. Patrons are charged $22 a day for this! When I complained, someone came over to apologize but the fee was not taken off my bill, which I was shocked about since I made it clear this was unacceptable. This kinda ruined it for me, and I cant believe more people dont complain and change this system. That was my only complaint, but its a substantial one that makes me think I wont go back there. What a great surprise, after so many years of staying at the overpriced Hilton Bentley I have discovered the best bang for your buck! Amazing rooftop terrace room with Jacuzzi, wonderful bathroom, ability to cook your own meals. Location is divine. Staff was outstanding, Jennifer, Vanessa, and Mickey were so helpful!!

This hotel is like a shady motel. DO NOT STAY HERE. There is absolutely no ocean view - we paid for one and all we got was a building view right in front of our room. I'll never stay here in my life again. Room service was also terrible!

Our stay was after a 4 day cruise. The large room space and deck was very pleasant. Having 2 1/2 baths in this space was fantastic for my wife's comfort. The room amenities were nice, while having a few maintainence requests, the problems were fixed quickly. Ocean Z's whole staff was very personal and professional. When we arrived at the hotel, we were told by the front desk staff that the room we booked wasn't going to be available that night due to an issue with the fire sprinklers. They put us up in a nice room on the ground level just next to the pool. You literally opened your sliding glass door and were beside the pool with your own lounge chairs etc. We […] were not unsatisfied even though we had to wait for the next day to get into our Penthouse room (all rooms have same decor and size) that had an upstairs "private" deck with 2-person chaise and hot tub. The upstairs deck is a nice added bonus and allows for entertaining if you have friends with you, and has a partial ocean view. I recommend this room type. The staff was very nice and helpful. Everything in South Beach is expensive, so you won't find a lot bargains or cheap things (eats, drinks, trinkets, etc) but you can stay at Lowe's or another higher end hotel and spend quite a bit more for possibly a little better service and hotel amenities, but you get less in the way of space and privacy. The Z Ocean Hotel is a great price for a lot of comfy space, amenities and its right in a really nice section of South Beach Miami with lots of shopping and restaurants right there. I recommend it for singles and couples -- the rooms aren't huge and it's not exactly a family place. Not a wild singles scene or anything -- just that most rooms have a king size bed and a sleeper sofa. Read more

My wife and I both enjoyed our stay at the Z Ocean. The location is perfect -walking distance to the beach and shopping on both Lincoln Road and further downtown. The room was very comfortable (and quiet) and we loved the private balcony. Staff was friendly and helpful. If we travel to SoBe again, we would definitely stay at the Z Ocean.

Our stay was pleasant at the Z Ocean. We are a family of 3 that was staying here over Christmas. The hotel is very modern. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only downside was that some more attention to maintenance should be provided. The hotel and the rooms have a lot of "bells and whistles", but we found that several of the bulbs were burned […] out in our room, some of the switches didn't work, there was some minor damage here and there that hadn't been addressed. Nothing major, but it detracted from the quality of the room overall. The beach service was great. Our bartender at the pool, Ana, was outstanding. She was very friendly and made our daughter very happy. We stayed in a regular room on the second floor. The penthouse (fourth floor) have individual roof top terraces. You have to be staying on the fourth floor to access the roof top terraces. The beach service was very good, and is included in your resort fee ($21/day). Definitely take advantage of this service, you are paying for it either way. You get two chairs, with an unbrella and towels. The beach is steps from the hotel and is beautiful. Read more

This is the second time my husband and I have stayed at this hotel. We absolutely love it! You really can't go wrong with the Z Ocean Hotel. Everything from the staff to the comfort of the rooms is 5 star quality. The rooms are spacious, very clean and the beds comfortable. Location is also ideal with the hotel being at the end of Ocean drive and just […] 2 blocks from Lincoln Rd. The beach is right across from the hotel and you do get chairs, an umbrella and towels at the beach as part of the resort fee. The swimming pool is also nice. Be sure to go to the hotel's bar for HH and try their shrimp tacos; trust me you will not regret it! HH drinks are 50% and the food ranges from $3 to $6. I Would recommend this hotel to anyone. The cleaning staff just changed the beds and put fresh towels and no washing floor no washing bathrooms. Most of saff spoke Spanish so you couldn't ask them for more. The communication fee to the front desk is a rediculous charge. The bill at the end came with extra charges and of you did not see it you would get stuck. very clean, incredibly comfortable, great location by clubs restaurants and right off the beach! the bar in the hotel wonderful, offered free welcome mojito which was amazing. only thing negative would be they seem to nickel and dime EVERYthiNG costs money, about 30 ish bucks per night for parking, extra 15 to use internet, no free breakfast, they are […] pretty expensive and dont give you any of the free things you may get at cheaper place. The one thing that was bothersome - although absolutely not a deal breaker - is the $14/day charge for wireless access. This, compared with other hotels, is an excellent example of penny smart, pound foolish. Free wireless should be a no brainer.

This hotel really surprised me in level of comfort and style. I got a complementary upgrade to one of the city view balcony rooms and I will most likely try and stay in a similar room. The view was great and the jacuzzi in the personal balcony was a great feature. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Location is good, not far from Lincon road mall […] area and other good spots. Spent 4 nights at a conference. Very helpful staff, room was very nice with large patio. Great shower and stocked room bar. Very slight indications of wear and tear, particularly banged up dark furniture and trim in halls - would be easy for the hotel to spend just a little to fix that up.
