Short notice business trip during a week when there was a major youth basketball tournament in town. ALL affordable hotel options were gone, with even 2-3 star hotels in the ridiculous silly money range. Refusing to pay per- night what would basically equal a one-way plane ticket to London, I had resigned myself to staying on the outskirts, until we […] found the Eldon. It's a bit odd - really an apartment converted to a hotel. No amenities such as a gym, doormen, etc...but the apartment was huge, the bed was comfortable, the a/c was good. It worked. The service was very friendly. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice hotel near Convention center of Wa DC"
We enjoyed the vintage feel of the building and it's modern renovations. However the front steps were difficult to manage with luggage. Needs a ramp or graded entry. Our room was wonderful but what good is the fancy shower head if the water isn't hot. Hope the central heater can be enlarged. Also, our all essential microwave and bedside clock did not […] work. I'm sure well check with you next time in that city and you will hv completed these kind of updates and repairs. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This was my first trip to the nation's captial and I was very impressed by the suite and location of the hotel. I traveled to DC to attend a conference in the Washington Convention Center, so the location of this hotel was perfect -- just one block north. Being that my suite was designed like a one bedroom apartment, I felt very much at home. I plan […] to come to DC again and I will definitely stay at the Eldon again. "Nice rooms and well stocked"
Everything was good except for the staff going in to clean the room without me being present. The guy had thrown away some of my personal belongings and used way to much of a cleaning agent. I could not breath inside the room.Genuine Expedia guest review
"An apartment for a hotel!"
I couldn't believe it when we stepped into our room! First, this place is CLEAN. I know, because I inspect beds when I first enter any hotel. This one was spotless and comfortable and big. The floors and remodeled bathrooms and kitchen were absolutely beautiful! Second, each night it really felt like we were going into our apartment because each "room" […] comes with a full sized kitchen with plates, utensils, cookware, and a full living space with couch, a desk, a hallway, a full bathroom and bedroom. Needless to say, as a mom on a budget, we were very spoiled here. I can only hope we catch a great deal for our future trips to D.C. We'd stay here again and again. "Not as good as it used to be"
We had stayed here before and our last stay was much better than this one, I'm not sure if there was a change in management or what happened but it seems to have lost a lot of its charm, for example they used to have a valet park your car since they charge $30 a day for small cars and $50 for larger vehicles, but now you have to park your own and the […] charge is now called a parking fee rather than a valet parking fee. When we entered the lobby the person at the front desk was rather rude by ignoring me while she continued to use her phone while waited. We ignored it and went to our but our room wasn't clean and the television in the room didn't work. That evening the room was very hot even with the air conditioner set to the coldest it would go. Needless to say the next morning we were ready to leave and don't plan on going back. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice rooms but customer service lacks"
Awesome shower and the room was amazing, but for the cost I expected it to be. Disappointed that a $200 didn't included parking an extra fee of $30, or breakfast $8 extra per a person!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our room (actually one bedroom, one living room and a kitchen for the price of one room) was very clean. The bathroom is newly renovated, so very stylish. Lots of closet space too. The suite was cleaned everyday. Good price if you are a family and need a kitchen. We stayed 3 nights and were not disturbed by noise at all. Would stay again on our next […] trip. Nice hotel, friendly staff but located a bit out of the way, at least for us. The internet provided was also impossible to use . Otherwise a nice hotel to stay. Btw, it has huge rooms and can easily accommodate a standard family.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good hotel for the price"
The hotel itself was nice. The roll out couch/bed isn't that comfortable, and when there is only one bed per room, it's a disappointment that it's a queen bed, because I am 6'1" and felt as if it was very short as my feet hanged out the end. Besides that, it had very pleasing and lovely facilities.Genuine Expedia guest review

My girl and I stayed here for a business conference going on at the hotel across the street. The hotel was very beautiful inside and the room was great. The room has full kitchen with everything you need, so if your gonna stay here bring your own food. Bring slippers also because the floors are all tile so your feet gets cold. The room was very big […] and clean you can easily have 3-4 people staying there cuz it has a couch and tv and stuff. Oh Also there is a parking charge at the hotel each night i cant tell you the rate cuz it says not to but call the hotel to find out. But you can park on the street for free saturday after 830pm and all day sunday. The room is the cleanest room we have seen at a hotel in a while. The Bed is very comfortable, and the shower is even better. The location for us was really convenient for us cause it was literally right behind the Marriott marquis which is where the conference was being held. The only things that i didn't entirely appreciate is how the hotel service was treating me/neighborhood and the price. The guy at the front acted like he hated his job, which reflected on us and other guests. The neighborhood is not a pretty sight at night especially at the parks. And the price was kinda fair for a nice room like ours but if your just staying for a day or two fnd the cheapest room possible. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was very nice, clean and the staff were friendly. The suite was well stocked with everything, the kitchen was awesome! Our only complaint is , we wish they would have been more informative as far as restaurants ect. We did ask for info for restaurants,[ we were not familiar with the area] and they didnt seem to be very familiar with the area […] either. Be sure to call for taxis, if you have any health issues, because you would have to walk alot to find any good restaurants. It is only 2 miles from the White house, but if you dont know your way around like us, you end up walking a lot more then 2. This is a busy time of the year, and we had a VERY hard time finding an available taxi . We were looking for a place to have dinner and ended up 1 or 2 blocks away, in a bad part of the city. We got sandwiches , and took them back to our room! Next time we will plan a lot better. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great value for the location"
I stayed here for two weeks on business. The location was excellent, especially considering that the very expensive new Marquis hotel is across the street. I could leave my room and go across the street to the Marquis' Starbucks and be back in my room with coffee in minutes. There were just little maintainance details that could have been improved. […] Burnt out lightbulbs in my room. Broken glass on the floor from the previous guest that never got cleaned. A slight smell in my room (like old liquor or something). But for the price, this is a fantastic find. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Competitive prices, very large rooms, full kitchen"
Was attending a conference less than two blocks away and saved a lot of money by staying at the Eldon. Nice little hotel, very convenient if you want to be within walking distance of the conference center. The rooms are HUGE - comes with full kitchen and a separate bathroom and bedroom area, along with a sitting area and TV. Would have liked to have […] had a TV in bedroom area as well, but could live without it! Everything was clean and stay was uneventful, which was good. Staff were very nice - helped arrange car service back to the airport, which was affordable and pleasant. In the morning they offer a $6 breakfast which provides great coffee (from a machine that can make many different kinds of coffees at different strengths), juice, hard boiled eggs, assorted cereals, and pastries/bagels, etc. They offer parking at an outside lot right next to the hotel, which is great. Well worth the money. Only recommendations would be having the safes all working in the rooms, providing a ramp up the stairs to the elevator for disabled persons (or those of us who have trouble lugging our heavy luggage up 4 stairs), and better wifi service - sometimes there were times when the wifi went out and would take a while to come back on. However, the wifi was free, which was also a bonus. Great stay overall, would stay again! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

disappointed that the coffee and creamer were not replenished in the room when I arrived. "Hidden Gem DC Boutique Hotel"
What a great deal! You get way more than you would expect for their nightly rates. Every room is a "suite" that includes a fully-stocked kitchen, living space w/ pull-out couch & flat screen, bathroom, and bedroom. It felt more like a condo than a hotel room. The block was quiet, the halls were quiet, and the view on the higher floors is a nice plus! […] Overall, the staff was kind and responsive. The location is ideal for walking around and taking advantage of shops and restaurants in Gallery Place/Chinatown and neighboring Mt. Vernon/Shaw. You can easily get to the metro a block away! I would recommend this to any out-of-towner looking for quality and luxury for a good price! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Unique set-up but perfect experience!"
Colleagues and I stayed at the Eldon Luxury Suites for a conference being held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. The hotel is 1/2 block away, which was wonderful in the steamy DC weather. The rest of the neighborhood is average: there is a CVS, a liquor store and a great cafe within 1 block, and taxis were very easy to come by. However, […] the neighborhood seemed very quiet (no real restaurants or bars). The hotel was very clean, easy to check-in and great, quick service. The only thing that was a bit odd is that it's an "aparthotel," meaning the rooms are set up like apartments. The floors are all tile, with a full living room and kitchen, complete with appliances and tableware. At first, it was a little odd to go into a separate room to sleep, but I quickly got used to it and it really didn't change anything! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great suite one block from Convention Center"
This boutique hotel can't be beat for the proximity to the Convention Center. The suite was roomy, clean, and nicely appointed. The staff was friendly and helpful. The Marriott across the street is finished, so earlier reviews mentioning construction noise are no longer applicable. On the down side, the pull out bed was not all that comfortable. "A Cute Place To Stay"

The staff were very helpful, friendly & professional. Suggestion: Perhaps the breakfast menu could be expanded, otherwise it was fine.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was pleasantly surprised at the hotel room during my stay. It was actually set up to me to be a one bedroom apartment. The living area and bedroom were in separate areas not all in one room. "Great hotel and great location"
Just like its name.. All the have to offer are suites... We got a very nice one which was not only big but brand new. The hotel is less than a block to the Mt Vernon Metro Station and the area has few good choices for breakfast and of course very close to DC center and U street.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very nice hotel near Convention Center"
I had a very nice suite. Everything seemed new and very well done. One glitch was some problems with WiFi. It is a block from the convention center. Only drawback is that there is a lot of construction in the neighborhood. I got noisy after about 8 in the AM. Otherwise, this was a very good stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great, but some flaws"
The stay was overall great. Close to many things, very spacious and clean. But some small flaws: when you request something from the front desk it takes an hour or more for them to deliver, TV remote partially not working, breakfast looked very cheap and too simple yet they charge you $6 for it wifi is a bit slow .. Etc. But like I said it was overall […] great. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"It's like staying at a Timeshare!"
We are timeshare owners & there are none in the area, so we like this place because it had a full kitchen, living room along with bed & bath! The place is beautiful ... It's done in a Chinese like decor. There's a Safeway not to far a way & a CVS pharmacy around the corner. We did not get a car & wouldn't recommend it! We walked to almost everything. […] Most people do! It costs to keep a car there! 10th street is right next to the place & we walked done there every day. The Metro is near by as well as tour buses at the city center on 10th near the Ford's museum. The street ends at the Smithsonian's! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Getting a little tired"
The spaciousness of the Eldon suites is wonderful. The location has improved dramatically over the last couple of years. There is now an enormous, stunning Marriott Marquis directly across the street, and the neighborhood has moved from sketchy to luxe. However, the furnishings of the Eldon are getting tired. The couch sagged. The sheets were torn. […] The elevator needed vacuuming both days we were there. The weekend desk staff seemed bored and slow....perhaps they were on the phone with friends or family? It's time for management to step in and upgrade! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Unwanted wake up call"
I have to say everything was good at the Eldon. Except at around 6 AM in the morning the cleaning crew and maintenance workers seemed to be having a "Union" meeting at various times outside of our room (#001) until about 830 - 900 AM. Other than this everything was ok with hotel. We didn't eat there so I can't comment on that.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It is a very comfortable hotel, and is actually a one bedroom apartment. There was some construction going on next door, but I did not hear any noise from it. One of the issues I had was about the wifi. There was a modem in my room, and I had to reset it constantly for it to work. More of a nuisance than a disadvantage. It is a good 30-40 minute away […] from the Smithsonian museums. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice hotel, but it is currently located next to major construction. Workers voices echoed up the walls in the mornings at 7:00am. Staff and owners were very nice and accommodating.Genuine Expedia guest review
We had a very comfortable bed and it was close enough to walk to the Smithsonian(about 10 blocks) or to public transportation if needed. "Very convenient to Convention Center"
If you are looking for a close hotel to the DC Convention Center, this is it! The main thing this hotel has going for it, IMO, is its proximity to the Convention Center. The trappings of the hotel are nice, updated and clean. Staff was reasonably friendly and helpful. Room itself was very spacious, tons of room, very comfortable bed, full kitchen (except […] stove), and nice bathroom. Previous reviews mentioned terrible Wi-Fi, but mine was great (there was a router right in the kitchen table area). There are some downsides to this hotel. First, no room service/on site restaurant or even a darn snack machine or gift shop. There is a CVS around the corner where I stocked up. The hotel seems to give "CVS" as the answer to all problems. Secondly, it is loud, with every sound amplified. Plus there were sirens going by ALL NIGHT. Trust me when I tell you to bring a white noise machine/app or some ear plugs. Next, the elevator is insanely slow and I have no idea why because there were never tons of people around. Also, the smell from the room cleaning supplies is so powerful, it is like being in a perfume store. I only had them clean my room once during my 4 day stay. Finally, this hotel is NOT friendly for anyone w/ mobility issues. Bottom line: if you want close, and the other nearby hotels (Marriott Marquis; Henley) are booked, this is a fine choice IF you just need a place to crash and are ok fending for yourself (e.g., grocery shopping) for your visit. "Decent for what I needed"
I would only return if it were just for me and I had no intention of having guests in my room. This is an old apartment complex converted into "luxury hotel". I wasn't too happy about being in the basement, but it was a large room (essentially a 1-bedroom apartment. Staff was nice enough, good amenities, but the room looked older (walls were a weird […] wood laminate). Bathroom was great, nice shower. I'm a single guy, wanted a room to stay in as I walked around DC, and it was the cheapest available in a central area. When I asked for a late checkout, they only offered me 1 extra hour.
