Staff was great. Room was small but comfortable. Bathroom was one of the better ones I have experienced. Only problem was some outside maintenance started at 645am! Overall everything was fine.Except that my room on the ground floor was next to the train station and every time the train passed you thought that there was an earthquake.Other than the noise of the train ,everything else was nice.The employees were friendly and helpful,the buffet breakfast was nice .Also the size of the room was nice.

We liked the Alexander II. Our downside was that we were in room 15 and just outside the window was a constant engine noise from what we think is probably the air conditioning unit for the building. However, it was completely consistent and we didn't notice it much after awhile. We were also on the train track side, and there must be 20 trains through […] each night. Once again, we didn't hear them after a couple of days, but it's just something to think about. The hotel is about a pleasant 10 minute walk to the Market Square. There is a 7/11 style store on the corner where you can also buy tram tickets. The breakfast was varied and quite good. Excellent location, very close to all must see/go sights. Room was cleaned with free wi-fi and breakfast was good. Suggestion: A sign to be put up on the hotel hallway for inconsiderate guest who likes to slam the door or party in the hallway back to their room from midnight to early morning.

Overall the hotel was pretty good. One negative aspect of the stay was that it was little too close to the Train Station, at night you could hear noise from passing trains. The breakfast was good and the customer service very good.

The hotel was excellent, old building but like brand new inside. The room was very clean and comfortable. The included buffet breakfast provided a large variety of choices - eggs, meat, cheese, fruit, cereal, pastry as well as coffee, tea and juice. Also the staff kept the buffet tidy and well stocked. The only possible negatives, though they were not negatives for me, was that the location did not have a lot of foot traffic and so could seem some what intimidating at night. Pluses: Location of the hotel--just steps away from the train station and a big shopping mall. Decent breakfast. Some staff was friendly, others not so much. There is a large 5-gallon (i think) water bottle on every floor so on hot days it was quite nice to get fresh water as you come back to your room as I would probably not drink tap water here. Rooms definitely could use an update but was generally clean; just bring slippers. Definitely nothing to write home about. Also you could hear the noises from the train. No A/C so could be really rough here on hot summer stays. If you are looking for a cheap stay that's relatively centrally located, then this is an OK option. As reported by others, one may end up in a windowless, tiny attic room. These are firetraps at the end of a blind corridor with no way to escape. There is no window, only a tiny slot, like a firing slot in a pill box which one could not climb through. My room was right above the rail line and the sound of trains - which I didn't mind. Hadde leiebil og fikk beskjed om at vi kunne parkere utenfor hotellet. Neste dag var det parkeringsbot på bilen, og da vi tok dette opp med resepsjonen, fikk vi først beskjed om å glemme det og da vi fortalte at det var en leiebil i Polen, ble vi kritisert for at vi ikke opplyse om det dagen før.
