We had a lovely stay. The pluses include a beautiful room with a terrific hot tub, and a nicely furnished guest common area. Pretty grounds and a warm hostess welcome were pluses as well.Meals were superb. Things to watch. Be prepared to invest driving time to see Chincoteague since there is really nothing to see within walking distance.. Also, the […] attic room is not suitable for most adult couples. We were lucky to be able to upgrade after arrivals since otherwise the low ceilings would have made the room unpleasant. Probably just right for kids. Overall a good value and we will likely go back. "very nice B&B. Great owner, staff and food."
Place had been upgraded since last time we were there and they were going to do even more. Owner was very nice as was the staff. Food was great. Had some new dishes and nice twists on old favorites. This will be my choice of place to stay when we return to the area. PS Great value!Genuine Expedia guest review
We had a very plesant stay. It was between the Virginia side and Maryland side of Chincoteague. Perfect location for us. Michelle, one of the staff members was more then helpful and very pleasant. Also a wealth of information about the area. The room was clean, had an old fashioned bathtub, small fridge. A separate building had snacks for guests (homemade […] cookies, yum) amung other selections, a small stove, dinner ware and a fridge. They also had a BBQ and a built in pool, a zen garden. The breakfasts were plentiful and delicious. We stayed four nights and had a different breakfast each day. The only down side was that it is not within walking distance to a town center for shops or resturants. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Garden and the Sea B&B was amazing! Dorothee and Thomas made us feel at home immediately. The grounds are beautiful, peaceful and relaxing, there is a great pool Our room was perfect, we stayed in the attic room, it was clean, cozy and comfortable. The bathroom was across the hall, it was clean, had a huge claw foot tub and everything else you need. […] The homemade breakfast was scrumptious. Dorothee was able to give us many great recommendations for food and activities. The B&B is located very conveniently to great sites, and convenient shopping. I highly recommend Garden and the Sea B&B, and we can't wait to go back! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A great place for a vacation."
Doro was out working in the yard when I arrived, Thomas came out to meet me in the gravel parking lot. Friendly folks. I asked for breakfast a bit earlier than they're used to. I asked for a vegan breakfast. They accommodated me in both cases -- deliciously in the second case. The room is very B&B which hurts my head a bit, but if Victorian chairs, […] flowery wallpaper, and doilies are you thing, then this place is your dream. Nice common area with games, books, DVDs, sodas, & snacks, but I stayed in my room. No desk (though a small cafe table did the job), not many power outlets, and generally not a good place for business. The WiFi wasn't bad, but the 19" CRT TV didn't suit my needs. Of course, if you're there on vacation with family, you probably wont mind it. However the room was nice, with a cozy gas fireplace, and a comfortable wicker sleigh bed. In nice weather you could sit in the many comfortable chairs on the porches, under the trees, or by the pool. It was cold and rainy when I stayed. Next time I'm in town, hopefully I'll get to experience the B&B's charm a bit more. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed in the Chantilly Room for two nights. The room was very nice. Definitely not the room for you if you can't climb into a deep tub (also the shower). It does state that on the website. The Inn is about 20 minutes from Chincoteague, so be aware that there is nothing nearby. They are dog friendly, too! Loved the port and the snacks provided in […] the Garden House. We did not use the pool, but it looked very nice. We will visit here again because we love Chincoteague. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Lovely B&B with great hosts, wonderful breakfast!"
The owners and employees are wonderful - friendly and helpful without being overbearing, and they have gone out of their way to everything to help their guests enjoy their stays. Breakfast was great. It was also very nice to be able to make tea and coffee and then enjoy it with the cookies and other snacks provided when we wished. In general, there […] were so many thoughtful conveniences provided, including towels for the pool and beach (and pets if relevant), cold bottled water any time, and helpful tips re: restaurant and entertainment options. For us, the only negatives related to the bathroom water and shower facility. The water, particularly from the sink, had a pronounced 'old metal' smell strong enough that it lingered briefly on your skin, and the rather small claw footed tub fitted with an add-on shower fixture and clingy plastic all-around shower curtain made for a less than ideal shower experience. Just mentioning this in case it would also be a concern for other travelers, but it might not be troubling at all to some guests and also may not be true for all rooms. We stayed in the Nelson room. "A classy place."
The new owners are very hospitable and friendly. Breakfasts were quite good. We greatly enjoyed our stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
My husband and I took a quick long weekend trip to Chincoteague and stayed at this B&B. It was my first time staying at a bed and breakfast and I loved it! The owners were very attentive, and cooked absolutely delicious meals! Information was easy to get regarding beaches, restaurants, and things to do. While they allow dogs to stay, you would have […] never guessed as there was no "dog smells" and only occasionally did you hear a dog bark. The rooms were large and had plenty of space to spread out. Each room had its own bathroom, and while they were definitely older, they were in working condition and very clean. Beaches were about 20 minutes away, but it's an easy drive and definitely worth saving a few hundred dollars to not stay "beach front." There isn't much around the B&B so plan on driving about 20 minutes to get to anything (restaurants, things to do, etc.), which was the only disadvantage to staying here! We loved it! "Excellent B&B experience!"
Simply put, this is an excellent B&B and I strongly recommend it. The price is reasonable and the quality is high. The hosts are very warm, welcoming and helpful. The rooms are very charming, clean and comfortable. Each room is unique, with its own name and "personality", and the breakfast delicious - and different every morning! "Charming, Friendly Atmosphere, Fantastic Food"
We stayed for 3 nights to celebrate our anniversary in late June 2011 and brought our medium-sized dog. What a wonderful place!! Doro and Thomas recommended the perfect spot for our anniversary dinner, and were gracious hosts. Most destinations were 20 - 40 min drives away, and there is not much to do in the immediate vicinity, but we were grateful […] to be away from the touristy din of more popular towns on the eastern shore. Simply hanging out in the garden/by the pool was a lovely way to spend the afternoon one day. Breakfast each day was a delight---influenced by their German heritage and the local produce. They are serious about accommodating pets--waterbowls, dog treats, doody bags, everything easily accessible. The one caveat is that the entire area is known for mosquitoes this time of year, and I returned home covered in bites--most likely from our trips to Chincoteague, as well as walks in the garden, and probably a stray mosquito in the room. Overall, this is a real gem, and a definite value. We'll return--soon, I hope, and are recommending it to our friends as well. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great B&B - would stay there again"
We stayed 3 nights. The presentation was very good and the owners are very friendly and helpful. It is in a good location - close to the highway and visitors centre for Virginia and Maryland but not right on the main road. Beautiful large garden with pool to relax in. The fully cooked breakfasts were very good indeeed. My only problem was the shower […] over the bath in our room (room called Nelson). I would not recommend that room for elderly people as the bath is a high, narrow claw bath and so getting out is a bit difficult. Other rooms probably had a different shower set up. Highly recommended. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Man spricht Deutsch. Wir würden gerne jederzeit wiederkommen.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

We have stayed at the Garden and Sea Inn many times. Each time it is a delight. Food is awesome, suites are beautiful and hospitality could not be better. Our visit in February was a real treat since we stayed in the Caberet Suite.

My husband and I travel to this oasis during the off-season and absolutely adore the peaceful escape! We recently stayed in the Shiraz Suite with our 2 dogs and we booked again for next year before leaving. The owners are a true delight and make every accommodation to ensure that guests have a relaxing stay. The breakfast can't be beat and should be followed by a leisurely walk around the grounds to enjoy the scenery. The Garden & Sea Inn is divine!
"A Perfectly Wonderful Time"
12/27/13 le_meridional Tucson, Arizona
B&Bs come in all shapes and sizes, and the quality and style ranges from the ridiculous to the regal. To borrow a phrase, they are like a box of chocolates. This B&B is an absolute GEM. We had a wonderful time. Breakfast in the dining room was just perfect - albeit served a bit late in the morning, beginning at 8 as I recall. The proprietor was very sweet, helpful and available but not imposing. The rooms are charming and cozy. Our hostess puts out all manner of goodies - cookies, candies, drink and the like -- for her guests each night. We highly recommend this over staying right in nearby Chincoteague.

We just got home after staying two nights at the pet friendly Garden and the Sea B&B in New Church, Va. What a great place! We stayed in the Shiraz Suite with our dog. It was clean and spacious, and beautifully decorated! Felt like home! It even had a little fenced in yard for our dog to play in! The location is great for visiting Chincoteague and Assateague Islands, which is what we wanted to do. We had never been to the Eastern Shore before and definitely wanted to include our dog on our trip. So glad we found this spot! Breakfast was awesome both mornings! Sunday morning's Eggs Benedict was the best we've ever had. Truly a flavor explosion with the first bite! Innkeepers Thomas and Dorothee were excellent hosts, friendly, talkative, and informative. They are obviously dedicated to making their home a top of the line bed and breakfast. We have stayed in a number of B&Bs in the past few years, and we would have to put this one right at the top of our list! Definitely give this B&B four thumbs up!
"A cool place to stay!"

My wife and I stayed at this Bed and Breakfast in the Fall. We had an awesome time. The food, service, and rooms were great. Everything exceeded our expectations. The parlor in the Garden House was a cool hang out spot. Do take advantage!

Lovely accommodations, a great breakfast and wonderful service made for a great first time Bed and Breakfast stay! The innkeeper was very kind and helpful to us, even providing us with personalized directions to the nearest dog friendly beaches for us and our pooch. The room was spacious, well decorated and very clean. The bath room was beautiful, boasting a cozy Jacuzzi and complimentary herbal bath salts. I absolutely loved my stay at the Garden and Sea Inn, the only thing that could be improved is the smell of the water. I attributed the odd smell to the inn's proximity to the beach, as I've stayed at coastal locations before which had a similar quirk. Perhaps water softeners could help though. Overall it was great and I would love to come back!
"Cleanest Bed and Breakfast!"
10/31/13 Konar4522 Gaithersburg
I have stayed in 4 star hotels have and have never been satisfied with the cleanliness of the a room. This bed and breakfast was spotless! We stayed in the Cabernet Suite with our two dogs and had a very relaxing time. If you are traveling with pets, this bed and breakfast should be at the top of your list! They provide treats, towels, blankets, bowls, etc for your pets and there are a lot of pet friendly activities in the area so your dogs can vacation too! Our favorite was the sunset boat tour that our dog was able to join us on. The owner and staff are extremely helpful and friendly and the food was great!
"Must go back"
This place has moved to the top of my list. What a find! We were here off season and were treated like royalty. This is the cleanest best kept B&B we have ever been to. Food is outstanding. Staff and owners friendly and accommodating. Gorgeous well furnished inn. Please take me back!
"3 night stay"
10/21/13 Krista B Elkton, Maryland
overall our stay was wonderful, breakfast was amazing and staff were very friendly. Chablis room was nice, it did rain while we were there and a larger tv would have been nice, but that was the only suggestion we would have. we would like to come back and try another room too.
"Super pet friendly"

We stayed a night and it was great. Super pet friendly - towels, food bowls and treats for your pet are all provided. Also, breakfast was delicious, especially the smoked salmon. Quiet but convenient location. I would highly recommend.
