My husband and I loved the Old Mazatlan Inn! It is located on a hill in the old section of the city, and is close to everything. It's a very short walk to the beach, the market, plaza Machado, and the cathedral. The rates for the Old Mazatlan Inn are very reasonable, and the place was amazing! It was always clean, and the staff was always friendly. The cleaning staff folded our towels into a variety of different animals each day when they straightened up our room - very creative! O'Neil, the manager, was particularly helpful. He recommended several great spots for us to check out during our stay, and we were never disappointed. One morning we had a tour scheduled, but my husband wasn't feeling well - when I went downstairs to try to call and reschedule the tour, I found that the tour office wasn't open yet. O'Neil kept calling for me and rescheduled the tour for us, so I wouldn't have to continue calling personally. We also really enjoyed meeting O'Neil's dogs! We definitely had a better experience at the Old Mazatlan Inn than we would have had at one of the giant chain hotels in the golden zone. We really love staying at smaller, independent hotels when we travel, because of the personal touches and relaxed atmosphere - and the Old Mazatlan Inn doesn't disappoint. I have stayed at hotels in other cities before where the photos I saw online beforehand weren't quite representative of the actual place. The Old Mazatlan Inn, however, looked exactly like the photos I saw online, and with the spectacular views of the city and the ocean, it surpassed my expectations! I would definitely stay here again if I visit Mazatlan again in the future, and I would highly recommend it to anyone I know traveling to the area! Read more

Hotel was clean, well-maintained and staff provided excellent service. Check-in for Expedia bookings was as simple as showing up at the gate and receiving the keys - no paperwork, no hassle. Friendly staff and a great location. Good efforts at keeping the rooms clean, however, brick floors always left my bare feet a bit grungy. Plan on wearing your hiking shoes since the hotel rests on a hill (offering great city views from the terrace) and three floors without an elevator. A charming place to stay.

We loved the pictures and the feedback from the reviews so we thought we would give it a try. The room was great - we came in July (which makes us a bit crazy) but a fan in the living room and one in the bedroom and remote controlled air conditioning make it super comfortable. Great location as we were within blocks of a bunch of restaurants and bars, markets (don't miss the historic town square on the weekend) and the ocean. We loved the architecture of this place with the brick work, tile and plants. Tons of character compared to the other places we looked at and later walked by that we could of stayed at for the same or higher price. Having a kitchenette was an extra bonus and we really liked that. We'd definitely recommend it for someone looking to explore Mazatlan and not be stuck in the Golden (Hotel) Zone. Read more
