Our stay was brief, only two nights. The room was stuffy and the AC didn't work properly, just barely,The temperature both days were 26 to 28 degrees Celsius so we were overheated.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Front desk staff was very pleasant and helpful. AC in our room was not working so they graciously moved us to another room. Continental breakfast was great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Northwest Inn Slave Lake"
I was not pleased to know there was no elevator in the hotel. I had a lot of heavy things I needed to take out of the car, and had to do some lugging. The room was clean, but older. There was cracking around the tub and bathroom fixtures. The front desk worker had no sympathy for my check-in situation, and could have probably bumped me to a ground […] floor room, but wouldn't check. The restaurant was very though - staff was wonderful. Although - it closes at 2 PM. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Quiet & Relaxing"
The hotel was very quiet and convenient for our purpose. The room was somewhat small but very clean. Think the beds need to be updated, very uncomfortable after a nights sleep. Kudos to the hotel for eliminating the odor of previous smokers, our request for a smoking room was appreciated, great job of the hotel. One note is that maybe the ceilings need […] to be looked at as our room looked like there were blood stains spattered over the entire room...makes you wonder what happened in prior to our stay. Food lacked some taste and timing. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The Travelodge Hotel in Slave Lake was a good night sleep. The hotel does not have an elevator so it was a bit tricky to get all of our bags into our room on the second floor. But the staff was friendly and helpful. All of out lights were out in our room, but after a call to the front desk we had someone there right away to fix the problem. Overall, […] it was good quality for the money spent. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Average hotel close to the hockey arena"
I booked with Expedia which was excellent BUT... When I got to the hotel, I quickly checked in & noticed my room was smoking, I complained & all the lady said was that's all we have left, I tried telling her I have an email with my itinerary & this isn't what I requested? She basically passed me off & sent me on my way. So I was off to the arena, (my […] reason for the stay) & when I returned late that night, my room was a smoking one, with 1 queen bed & a pull out sofa bed. My itinerary called for a no smoking room with 2 queen beds. I complained & the staff moved me to another room that was no smoking but had 2 double beds. Inconvenient for us as my husband is a large man & we barely fit on 1 bed. They had no more rooms to accommodate us. Although the lady staff was trying to be helpful. I was perturbed that what I booked on Expedia wasn't what I got... And I wasn't comped in any way by the hotel Manager either... Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Showing its age, carpets stained and worn, some unknown odours. Room was clean, beds comfortable. Checkout was painful, they tried to charge us for the room which was prepaid thru Expedia.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Good hotel, very good food"
An older hotel but still in good condition. The staff was friendly and the room spacious and comfortable. I ate supper in the lounge (10% off for hotel guests) and enjoyed a very good complimentary hot breakfast the next morning.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"There are better . . ."
Although nothing was really terrible about this place, there are much better nearby for the price point or slightly higher.Genuine Expedia guest review
Plain room and low price. Hotel was fine for a one night stop over but would not have wanted to have a long stay there.Genuine Expedia guest review
Just needed a place to stay overnight. Was good for our needs.Genuine Expedia guest review
Almost everything was good or great . Breakfast was fabulous. Shower was good. The Front Desk staff were great. The Parking lot was dirty, needs to be swept and the paper and garbage needed to be picked up outside as well as the grass needed to be cut. Staff were really friendly and knowledgeable about Town amenities. The beds were way to hard, we got […] almost no sleep except for the sleeping pills we had to take. This is not acceptable!! The latch on the outside door to the parking lot was broken, allowing access to anyone at anytime, negating the need for a combination lock. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Northwest Inn, Slave Lake, Alberta"
Enjoyable surroundings and comfortable room.Room did exhibit some long term wear and tear, however. Friendly staff. Excellent complimentary hot breakfast provided. Easily walkable, a few minutes, to downtown or to new shopping center on Highway 2. Quiet.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Place to stay if stuck."
The carpet was very dirty, beds very uncomforable and the place smells like tobacco smoke. This is more like a working camp for construction workers not a hotel to visit on a holiday.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel is older, but the room was clean. The front desk staff were hopeless though. They did not know how to bill the room since it was booked and paid for through Hotels.com and the breakfast was nothing to write home about. This is a good hotel if you are just looking for someplace to sleep, but don't expect much else.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Big room, friendly service"
I was there 3 nights and was impressed with my stay. Brought my dog ($10 extra per night - not bad!) and he was barking the first day while I was at work so the front desk lady actually volunteered to watch him for me the next day!! She took him out for the day with her dog and he loved it. That's definitely going above and beyond for great service!! […] The room was big and clean but not fancy. Restaurant has a nice patio and food is good. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Bathroom was disgusting, refused to use. No one at front counter for over 10 mins when trying to check in. Air conditioning was broken. Would not recommend.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Some wear on the exterior, but the rooms are decent. Front desk staff was very helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
This hotel is only fit for work crew personnel where amenities and cleanliness are not considered as a condition of importance. The room was dirty, the walls were in bad condition and the bathroom ceiling was non-existent. Leave your shoes on and sleep in your clothes, discard them in the morning. Anyone expecting anything more should avoid this hotel […] like the plague! Hotels .com should not list this hotel as an option. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Rooms have no AC!!!"
If you go to this hotel in the summer months you will die of heat! No air conditioner like they say, No climate control. Not all rooms have a fridge. The internet connection is very slow also. The staff at the front desk are not friendly, or very helpful. I wouldn't recommend this hotel unless you love sleeping in the heat.Genuine Expedia guest review

"A good to place to stay"
We were pleasantly surprised with the size of the room which included a sofa bed, table, chairs, microwave and coffee pot. The service was excellent, even delivering our complimentary breakfast to our room. The carpet could have been cleaner but everything else was spotless. We will stay there again when visiting in Slave Lake.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Good Addition in Slave Lake"
02/12/14 David J Edmonton, Canada
I am a Wyndham member and I am happy to see Travelodge in Slave Lake. I have stayed in this hotel when it was Northwest Inn. I have noticed lot of improvements after the conversion of this hotel to Travelodge. I like the most is the new bedding and my Wyndham points. Staff is polite and service is good. Me and my crew will keep staying in this hotel.
"Got worse after they switched to travelodge!"
I've been staying on and off at this hotel since November. The restaurant service is horrid, several times i've eaten there the waitress forgot that I even ordered. The servers seem to only cater to the drunks with tip money. Almost none of the plug ins outside work, so beware if you have work equipment. Its fairly run down and the free wifi is a joke at 200-500Kbps compared to the normal broadband speed of 10-15mbps. We've decided to not use travelodge anymore after this stay. I couldn't be happier to leave this hotel.
"Terrible - stay away !!!"
07/15/13 SusanM643 Edmonton, Canada
I booked this hotel for a weekend visit to Slave Lake. We arrived there late on Friday night and clearly the hotel was deserted with very few cars in the parking lot (first warning sign). Upon check-in, I asked for a non-smoking room, got the room key. As soon as we opened the hallway door to the wing, we were hit with overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke. Without even going back to our room, i went back to the front desk and confirmed that I had a non-smoking room. She said, yes no problem after checking the computer. We then went to our room and noticed right away an ashtray on the table. By this time it was 11pm and 2 kids that were half asleep so we decided to try to make the best of it. Woke up next day feeling terrible as if having slept in a smoke filled room. When we complained at the front desk, they wouldn't give us our $$ back but offered to upgrade us to a suite... we checked it out and it seemed fine (non smoking). It had a pull out couch in addition to the King bed. When we returned to the room later that evening and tried to set up the bed, we discovered it was broken. Calling the front desk, they informed us that they knew it was broken and offered to bring up 2 cots which they did rather promptly. *** if you are a non smoker, beware this hotel has an overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke. everything is old and run down, carpet is old and needs a good cleaning, wallpaper was peeling, bed was being held up by a block of wood, breakfast was horrible, very old TV had only 1 channel we could find; walls in bathroom need repair, STAY AWAY !!!

Stayed here for over a month, the food was actually pretty good, my room was a good size. Could have used an updated TV. Took a few rooms before I found one that didn't smell like smoke. Breakfast was alright, eggs were fake.
"Good for the price."

Booked two rooms for two nights through Expidia, for the Northern Lakes Nursing Grad. Check in was a breeze. Our rooms OK, an older weathered property, try as they might to mask the cigarette smoke, it's still there. Room satisfactory, bed old and achy on the back. Decent bathroom, lots of shower pressure. Fridge, microwave and ancient, blurry tube TV, ..... playoff special, very hard to make out the puck. No screens on the window, the heater / AC unit made a continual gurrgling noise. Quiet though. Tried the lounge for a drink and meal, very slow, terrible steak, all in all, bad bar food. So bad in fact, it scared us off their breakfast, with A&W and McDonalds being across the street, we opted for "tried and tested fare". in the mornings. I think should I return to Slave Lake, I would pay the extra for a newer establishment. Seemed Expidia offered way less than was there.
"Good budget hotel"

This hotel is showing some wear and tear but it is clean and comfortable and everything works. Good value stay. Free hot breakfast was okay but the eggs were cold both days. Ask for a room facing the green space behind the hotel for a more pleasant view than the parking lot.
"Diamond in the rough"

This is an older hotel with nicks in the sinks and carpet that is a little worn. HOWEVER, it has some pretty big advantages. The staff are great. Everyone was friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. The fitness room has very little in it right now but I saw tempting boxes which have yet to be unpacked which have new equipment. The television in the fitness room has not yet been set up but it looks like they were in the process of doing so. There is a dry sauna, washrooms and a good ambience in the fitness room. The buffet in the morning was great! There was bacon, hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns, pancakes, waffles, french toast, cereal and fresh fruit. And there was almost nobody in the hotel! I think because there are a number of newer and "fancier" hotels, people tend to go elsewhere. I had the quietest sleep I have ever had in a hotel. If you go, I think you will have a relaxing, pleasant stay that will surprise you!
