Hotel Vasari - Florence

Our stay at Hotel Vasari in Florence was very disappointing. It is nothing like it's website pictures, nor does it deserve a 3 or 4 star-rating. The desk clerk when we checked in did not even look up from his personal phone call for 5 minutes. He never welcomed us in any way. Our room smelled badly and the bedding, especially the extra blankets in the […] closet, were dirty. The beds were very uncomfortable and we were thankful we only needed to stay there for one night. On a busy corner, there was loud traffic noise and people yelling until the early morning hours. Do not pay for the "included" breakfast. It was dry cake and rolls with juice, yogurt and coffee. On a positive note, it was only two blocks from the train station and the center Duomo Cathedral. Read more

Very close to the railway station, only 5 mins walk. The room was clean, but the bathroom smells. Their breakfast was really good, with a lot of choices. The decoration is old and outdated. If you prefer a modern style hotel, it might not be a good choice.

Family of six -- parents and four teenage daughters. Rented three double rooms. Very satisfied with our stay. First, the hotel is not some bland, run-of-the mill, global hotel chain. It actually has some character in history, construction and decor. We very much liked the down-to-earth reception, sitting rooms and breakfast room. Second, you can hardly […] get closer to the train station. This was important for us since we were on foot and all pulling wheeled suitcases, which we didnt want to haul all over Florence. Third, the breakfast was good, the rooms were clean and the overall price was right. The only downside was that the rooms were rather small and, if I can recall correctly, the tiny television set didn't offer anything other than Italian news and soaps plus dubbed English shows. Nothing special about this place. Location was convenient but otherwise nothing truly special. The breakfast they had was nice but it was basically the same as we had elsewhere in Italy. Seemed a bit overpriced compared to other places we had stayed. Recommendation for where to go to dinner also didn't impress us.

this hotel is in a perfect location about 100 m to the congress centre if you are traveling to Florence for a conference. It is also about 300 m from the train station and walking distance to all the sites... We had such a wonderful stay at Hotel Vasari. It was clean, the beds were comfortable and the breakfast was a great start to the day! Only approx 5 mins from bus/train station, which is a great start to the holiday. Restaurants and bars (and lots of them) all nearby. Duomo, Uffizi Gallery and loads more attractions all nearby. Sheer bliss!

I very much enjoyed my stay at Hotel Vasari. I found the staff to be very helpful and accommodating. The location was quite convenient as well; a 2 minute walk to the train station and less than 15 minute walk to the Piazza del Duomo. Mine faced the parking garage and was quite quiet. The room, for a European hotel, was large. The bathroom was smaller than what I'm used to, but it wasn't the end of the world. The room was also very unique (compared to hotels I've stayed in before) as was the hotel. Breakfast was good and, as I normally don't eat breakfast, a great start to the morning. However, there was three things I was disappointed with which were the light in the room, the broken plug, and the air conditioner. Maybe not the best of neighbourhoods in Florence but within easy walking distance of Santa Maria Novella Station and a very clean and comfortable hotel. We were very happy with our room and bathroom and we had a small balcony overlooking the hotel's private parking area which was small and more like a garden area than a parking area. One concern was […] that neither our balcony door nor balcony shutter could lock properly which prompted a security concern but we did have a large safe for valuables like laptops etc. The reception staff were always courteous and willing to help when asked to assist with any query. The cleaning staff and restaurant staff were also friendly and always greeted us. We were very satisfied with the breakfast which had a large selection of all the usual breakfast offerings. We were told that wi-fi was only available from the lounge or dining area and wasn't available from our room as the signal wasn't strong enough but it was fine from the lounge area on our floor which was all we needed.
